Path of Exile 2 Early Access |OT| An Exile like ARPG.

This is why I never make my own builds in this. I just look at what a streamer or YTer is doing that's a trusted source, and then copy their build if I want to play it too.

I'm way too retarded for this; and far too smart for Diablo 4 lol. Feel like Titan quest 2 nailed the skill tree aspect for my tastes.
I embrace my retardedness. I just light up some weed and start assigning skill points, and believe me it's quite fun when you do a little change here and there and suddenly you are making double damage lol.

The passive tree is one of the best things about PoE.
The one in 2 was a letdown for me in comparison to 1, so I hope with these changes it will feel better and smoother.
The feeling that you're retarted when watching this tree is just this...a feeling.
You can just assign points as you level and look a few steps ahead in different directions. Every now and then, take a look at the big nodes and if one of them sounds like fun to complement your playstyle, go for it. You can respec (for a cost) and experiment a lot.
The feeling of being retarted will go away, eventually and make room for the absolute freedom that is the passive tree and the skill system of both PoE 1 and 2. There is no comparison.
But if you're the kind of player that thinks endgame is where the actual game starts and want to grind endlessly, then yeah, you might have to copy a build.
I like the leveling process and experimentation in these types of games, even if I hit a wall and have to start over.

Haven't found a class I really like yet in 2, the monk is okay, but I don't like quarterstaff. I'd like swords, daggers and claws (are claws being added in 2?), so I'll have to wait a bit longer. Leveled an Acolyte of Chayula up to 69 and tested the endgame mechanics, but like always, it's too monotonous for me, so I want to level up again, but the other classes and skills are not for me.
Guess I'm starting a new monk in 0.3 and go for hollow palm technique. Hope the new deflection mechanic make melee a bit more viable in the later stages of the game.

I'm liking the new trade system. This kind of system that's similar to the FF14 marketstall system is what I've been recommending Diablo 4 implement for a while.

Man, Warrior with no cool down on shield charge among other buffs and Monk unarmed with the bonuses to evasion are making it hard to pick my starter.

For trying the free week, do I need to follow a build guide or the patch shakes things up so much all earlier builds are changed ?

Poe 2 makes it so easy to respec, just enjoy Ur First time. If you prefer using a Build, sure Go on ahead. If you prefer just going in blind, its no Problem.

Wish this game ran better on PS5, its such a huge turn off.

some quotes from the Q&A (1:25:37-1:26:30)

thankfully loading times should be better
we're doing a bunch of engine changes
we've done a pretty big amount of rewrites to the engine
it should be quite a lot faster in terms of framerate
things should be better in this regard, especially for consoles
we've seen a pretty big performance uplift
that's definitely something that we're taking really seriously

Sweet, thought this only applied for PC. Will reinstall for sure.
We have to wait what the actual difference will be. I'm in luck since I don't really care about minor performance problems. I can feel and see them in games, but I decided a while ago that it shouldn't deter me from having fun. The only thing I'm not capable to overlook is tearing, but since switching from PC to consoles I've never had the problem anymore.

GGG are primarily a PC developer, so consoles will always be an afterthought, I guess. But their userbase grew over the years and I'd reckon there's a large percentage playing PoE2 on console, so it's in their best interest to adjust and improve performance. Early Access is the one thing, but by full release they should definitely sort out most of the issues.

I didn't read the patch notes yet, but it seems like Ranger/Deadeye is probably a safe bet since it didn't seem it got changed all too much, so build guides from last season should still somewhat apply.

If you're decent at RPGs, though, you can probably just wing it. It's not as hard as some people think it is. I will be playing from the start, so I'll be putting a bunch of leftover gear in the guild stash for others to use, keeping the fine tradition of everyone using Rentahamsters' hand-me-downs going hahaha.

Sadly i doubt it'll ever do, even on PS5 Pro, GGG has struggled a lot CPU wise for like a decade already, i changed my old CPU mainly because it ran PoE1-2 poorly, and it was a better one than this gen's consoles. Think adding framegen to the console version would help a lot even if it gives some extra latency, better than playing at 15-20 FPS during any delirium map.

About the expansion, a win more or less for me, i don't care that much about new characters, tho i miss a real spell totem, brand or trap/mine ascendancy.

Balance shakeup touching most ascendancies a bit, skill and passive gems, a good amount of new passive points on the tree, and some new defensive layers to make armor/eva more viable is good enough for now.

Is framegen currently in the PC version? I don't think it was last time I played. Seems like the client needs the server to confirm actions anyway as command always seem kinda laggy even at a decent frame rate. I don't think adding framegen would be at all noticeable from a latency perspective.

120fps framegen up to 240 could be pretty good.

Last year i bought a 240hz Monitor and thought its Fine. Now with Frame gen i want 240 native and 480 with Frame gen …

No, but i used lossless scaling on it when i had a 3600x cpu which bottlenecked me and out of all the games i've tried with it, this was the one with the best results, helped a lot in the worst case scenarios like the harvests or maps with big enemy density.

Input lag was slightly noticeable but not a problem at all, definitely much better than without FG just like in any CPU bound game where you get 2x perf instead of 1,4-1,5 when you are GPU limited

The game already has a bit of input lag compared to other arpg games. Not sure why but poe1 was the same on console. Not sure why they can't make it more responsive.

I made a post to announce the free weekend. Let's see how many new people show up.

played this tonight for a few hours

It's.... okay. The leveling up is absolutely unfathomable, I certainly don't have time to get good at this so hope the actual story is good enough to keep me interested.

More updates:

Holy shit!

Witchhunter
  • The Weapon Master Notable Passive Skill now grants 100 Passive Skill Points become Weapon Set Skill Points (previously 20). The preceding small Passive now grants 6% increased Cooldown Recovery Rate instead of Weapon Set Skill Points.

Maybe I'll season start Witchhunter.... I was thinking Tactician but this sounds really interesting to take advantage of snapshotting.

I have a question for anyone who can answer it. If I delete a character, is the name of that character still considered "taken," or can I reuse that character name when making a new character?

I ask because I have a couple of characters at low levels that I'd like to start again. I like the names that I came up with for them, and I'd like to continue to use those names without having to add numbers or whatever at the end.

You can reuse them, I did that all the time with exp characters in POE1.

In my case I was creating the characters in different leagues.

Why would you start a playthrough so close to a new league? Wait till friday

Looking to get further than I did before (around level 40 and a little before the end of act 2).

I'll try Huntress and/or Ranger a shot.

Watching some of the PoE YouTubers' impressions, I got the sense from one of them that the game will become a lot easier, but I guess that's only for people who really know what they're doing.

I wish this league wasn't when so many games are coming out.

I would've rolled out a crossbow build but there's no way I can commit time with ;
Shinobi
MGS Delta
Silk Song
Cronos

All within just days or weeks of each other.

Plus silent hill f and ff tactics end of month. Then next month ninja gaiden 4.

I'll be curious if this league peaks like they expect. Shit I even want to make time for deadlock again with this new overhaul they did but can't find time.

I'm not interested in the games coming out this week and neither for Silk Song but i still have to play Oblivion Remastered and Clair Obscur 33 but i think i will prioritize Path of Exile 2 update.

New update but PSSR is still missing. It was the best option. I tested FSR and there's too much trailing, which is odd since Diablo IV uses it and it works well on both base and Pro.

no idea what that even means or entails but ok

I just wanted to play the campaign. It was a bit naff.

When each major update launches, the entire game's economy gets reset and everyone has the option to start fresh in a new "league" all at the same time. Most of the playerbase plays this way. The next new league refresh will start this Friday.

If you want an easier experience, I recommend you join our NeoGAF guild, that way you will have access to our shared guild stash and will have an easier time finding equipment upgrades.

So, I may have to go trade league. I was thinking about SSF again but I think GGG are going to end up balancing the game around being able to trade since it is so easy now which would suck for people trying to make it through without that help.
