I have a GF4 Ti 4200

Ok, lately when I try to run a 3D PC game the picture starts to tear slowly until the whole screen is filled with spikes 2-3 mins in and if I don't exit the game in time my whole PC crashes

Ive never had a problem with video cards, so I have no idea whats going on.

Clean the fan on that bad boy.

Sounds like it is overheating or way overclocked.

What's the temp like in your case? idle/load

Haha, I just cleaned the fan about 40 mins ago and then made this post. Played a bit of CS:S and things were fine for the small time I played

Yeah, the fan on the card was dusty as hell.

Then most likely your fan is dying. Not uncommon really. Thing about NVIDIA partners are that NVIDIA isn't strict on their designs thus they could put poo on it if it cooled the card enough to run.

I pretty much have to clean my BFG 6800GT every month or so...

the dual fan grill setup on it traps dust like a swiffer duster.

I would have already bought a better heatsink/fan for it, but BFG boasts a lifetime warranty of the product... so I don't think I'm going to risk it.
