PDZ Music Clip

What are the chances of that. Here i am listening to PD music (from the DKR appreciation thread), thinking how amazing these MIDI tunes are, and how it totally capture the PD feel.

Now this pops up. Thanks for the heads up

WTF is this shit?? does nothing for me, the spy bit was nice then it dissapears. They have the same guy from PD working on PDZ, i hoped it would be better. Go back to spy music FFS!

I highly doubt this is indicative of much, Prine. It's a really low key track, sort of NOLF-ish in flavour. But it's not special or stand-outish. I think they just aren't able to show the big guns, because we know so little about the meat of the PDZ single player experience. X05 should be fun :D

True i guess it suits the mood of that particular level. I just hope they do what Kojima/Harry Gregson Williams have done with keeping the existing main theme but changing it up a bit. Having the old theme tune echo in and out at times is such a nice touch.

Carrington Institute music is probably my favourite music from PDzero, would love that to be remixed in 5.1.

Sounds like casino music. In which case it'd be fine, but for something called Subway Retrieval...that was pretty rubbish. Of course, I haven't played the level, so I'll reserve judgement of whether it fits or not.

Just because I like pushing people that much closer to heart attacks, Prine should know Grant Kirkhope (the original game's main composer) isn't working on the sequel. Instead it's David Clynick, who did the cutscenes and Maian Tears/Alien Combat in the first game. I happen to really like those two tracks, but they're moody and slow. Now he has to handle the action bits too, and he may just not be very good at that.

We'll know soon enough.

I can see myself shooting people to this.

But I think that about a lot of things.

Neither Kameo nor PD seem to have the big composers working on them. Steve someone (I don't even know his surname, maybe he's new?) is doing Kameo, I only assume alone.

Robin Beanland, David Wise and Grant must be working on unannounced games. I'd guess Banjo is keeping Grant busy myself.

I was just going to say Grant still at Rare, its odd not including him when he was the guy behind Goldeneye and Perfect Dark

Must be a new Banjo game. Wonder what Dave Wise is up to :D

Too poppy and not enough horns for "spy" music. Sounds like something out of an anime, though the much of the similar music in something like Read or Die has it beat.

Kinda catchy (kinda, sorta, almost), but doesn't fit at all.

I think "porn music" is the most accurate description here.

Has an old school, Dolemite feel with a little jazz flair to it.
Very different for videogame music. I kinda like it. Nothing to go OMG about tho.

Although I thought the MP3 was quite good, this news really doesn't feel me with confidence. Perfect Dark had one of my favourite game soundtracks ever, this mp3 track is good but I really hope there's some stuff in there which just sounds like Perfect Dark.

When I had the game demoed to me at E3 the first thing I asked about was the music to be told "you can have your own customs soundtracks," which I and another guy were quite adament to voice that custom soundtracks are all well and good for a sports game, but they kill the atmosphere you're trying to setup in a game like this - Star Wars with Lincoln Park over the top would be shit. Just give me another chicago, or dark combat or datadyne escape and I'll be happy.

I just hope Microsoft aren't doing the obvious and changing PD into another generic FPS to easier fill Halo's gap in the launch line-up.

I dig the Waca-chi-waca music. Makes me want a true sequel to Interstate 76.

:/

But for Perfect Dark Zero I was expecting something more... Futuristic?

They should have gone to Marty O'Donnel (the Halo music composer) and asked him to do a great soundtrack for PDZ. I don't think this fits with game at all...

Tell me it isn't so? :(

This MP3 is far more PD than Halo is.

It's not as if Halo represents all of his work either...

I don't think he'd do it, though, so it wouldn't have mattered.

I would have enjoyed a nice Jesper Kyd soundtrack, actually. He's very good at creating music to fit certain moods.

Marty is busy.

Anyway, so even PDZ's music classifies as "bad art", eh? You guys are funny.

The track is fine. Just a small clip. Sounds very Shaft.

I wouldn't say its bad, you can hear the PD bits trying to break through in parts imo. Not quite there yet, but ill give it a chance. I loved the PD soundtrack (played the end credits during muliplayer games ;p) so it was always going to have quite uphill struggle to meet my needs.

I was thinking "porn music" as well..

That and a bit of 70's movies like Shaft or something.

That song was pretty bland. While PD's soundtrack was great, I didn't like all of the tracks. But I also don't remember any tracks that were this generic or campy. Maybe it's because I'm hearing it before playing the game, but I definitely hate the generic 70's flavor.
