Dun dun dun...another one bites the dust.
Anyway, the car went to that tuner shop in the sky a couple weeks ago. I'm currently tooling around in my dad's Explorer like some soccer mom. This ain't no fun. After my Corolla gets out of the shop, I'm gonna be dicking around in that too. That damn sure ain't fun. I won't be able to get anything new until Summer, but it doesn't hurt to start shopping around from now. I'm looking for suggestions on what to get. Here's the short list for now:
1. 00-02 MR2 Spyder
- What can I say? I fell in love with this impractical little car. Not a dragster, but it's no nimble and so fun to drive, it makes driving nearly anything else feel like a limp, unsatisfying experience. Before the wreck, I fully intended on keeping my Spyder for life. I'd gladly get another. Only the 2000-2002 models though, since the 2003's are slightly heavier. Plus I already got spare parts for the 00-02.
2. Lancer Evolution
- I say I'd take it from any year, but the truth is I'd rather get the real Evo8, the one with the trick diffs and the electronic assists. This is god's gift to car fans. It can be a dragster, a autoxer, a track whore or a drifter. You can do anything you want with it, and it'll rock at it. The problem is I don't know if I can find any of these less than $20,000. I'd even get the MR version (or whatever version is the no-frills model) if it meant I could get it down in the price range I want. I can do without a/c and stereo if I can get the performance this car provides.
3. Scooby WRX
- Like the Evo, I'd take any year model for this, although the 2002+ models look nicer with the more refined headlights. No need for an STi, I'll be getting that extra power by my own mods. And weight won't matter much with this already obese car. I can definitely get this car at the price I want, so it's kinda my safety car.
4. Streetbike
- This is a wierd option that I recently started considering. I got a helmet for the autox I never made it to.
So the bottom line is a $20,000 absolute limit on spending for a car. I'd much prefer to get it down to $15,000 or less, as I can't imagine getting something more expensive than my last car. For a bike, I think $8,000 sounds reasonable as a max. I'd prefer to get something under $5,000 though. To cope with my loss, I've got to move on. I must find a new machine to love. PEACE.
