Perfect Dark Zero multiplayer is broken.

First tragedy, then farce.
DEAR RARE, I WANT TO PLAY A FIRST PERSON SHOOTER, NOT A FIRST PERSON RELOADER.

That is all.

Team games are decent to good, but deathmatch is such a broken mess.. you get into a gun fight, both people have to reload then someone waiting back jumps in and kills you both. Granted this happens in other games, but in other games it doesnt take a god damned hour to reload. I seriously think it takes longer to reload a clip then it takes to spend it.

Oh, and headshots are WAAAAY to easy.
 
the online game is decent enough. im still on the fence about trading it in or not. pdz really makes you realize how amazing halo2 online is. from the entire party system to maps, to weapon balance, and especially aiming. bungie am fps gods.

I'm surprised you say this. Halo 2 is like...everyone running for the best weapon.
 
You're complaining about reloading? Near every FPS I've ever played must have broken multiplayer then... If your clip empties and you are in a tight spot switch to your pistol.

Oh, and Deathmatch is boring anyway. It's all about Dark-Ops Eradication.
 
Yes I know every game HAS reloading in it. Not every game features clips that last 5 seconds and a reloading animation that lasts nearly as long. Its crazy stupid...

and while Halo 2 does have some issues, its not nearly as 'everyone runs for the best weapon" as say Quake 3.
 
I haven't played a lot because I'm not very good and generally people are bitches to me online because of it, but it always seems like people rush for the sword or the rocket launcher.
 
I will completely second th eopinion of the first poster. Multiplayer is horrendous in this. Groups of people standing five feet aprt desperately trying to get a head shot before anybody else.

Remember kids, better physics and controls means: Halo 1> Halo 2> PDZ
 
I think the main problem is that you just have too much health to make anything other than a headshot a good strategy. The problem isn't the time it takes to reload, it's the time it takes to reload relative to the number of clips it takes to bring someone down.

Having to reload in the middle of an intense firefight is one thing. When it takes 2-3 clips to bring someone down unless you get a headshot, that's something entirely different. The health system doesn't encourage smart play, it encourages running into the fray, shooting everything in sight, then running back out before you die. Wait 5 seconds to recharge, then do it again. Not ideal.

I still think the multiplayer is pretty fun, and the weapons, despite being horribly underpowered, all well balaned relative to each other.

You hit the nail on the head. This game looks funny as hell though when six peple are all in the same five foot radius all trying to kill each other.

I thought this as well, and then I decided "Hey, I should stop sucking" and so I did.

And now PDZ multiplayer is awesome.

You should try that sometime -- not sucking.

There isn't a single useless weapon in Q3, and given player movement and item respawning, there's no problem with either getting your hands on what you want (if you move for it) or getting your ass away from someone for three seconds until you have what you need to put up a fight.
 
You should play some Dark-Ops Infection. Thats the best mode I've discovered since Eradication. It's always fun hiding in a small room with mines set-up being the last man standing while everyone is coming after you. DIIIEE DIEEE AAGHAHG....
 
That's why you choose the sword, no reloading necessary. Or the Hawk.

Though I do agree that in pure deathmatch combat Halo 2 is still king among any FPS game available today. PDZ offers way better gameplay modes though and the weapons are much more interesting.

IceDragon that's what I've been saying for a week now! Infection is AMAZING online with anything over 16 players. The good guys set waypoints and group together and set camp in one room, taking out some zombies along the way. Then one by one they fall, and the survivors struggle harder and harder to stay alive when ti's just one last guy trying to last those remaining seconds. And on the Zombie side, trying to bust through 20 people's defences. Having wave after wave of your zombie buddies get blown up, and finally getting one defender join your side... then another... then 2 more, then the defense breaks and all hell breaks loose.

hahaha...that sounds like that weird zombie mod in CS:Source ...all the CTs crowding up on one little space while all these like zombie things ran around and tried to get up there to kill them :P

I sent you a Friend Request since you seem to love it as much as I do. I haven't tried 32 player Infection. I bet its insane though, I just hate the snow map since the humans can acctually stay on the top of mountains picking skeletons off from the top.

That sounds awesome. I hope Halo 3 has a variation of that with the Flood.

Huge oversite by the Rare team. They should have went with infinite ammo for every weapon in multiplayer.

Granted there are a significant number of maps in Halo 2 that afford extreme advantages to teams who can snag the lone sniper rife, or can rush to steal the other teams sniper with vehicles, etc. If you happen to be on the fortunate end of that stick, you almost begin to feel bad for the opposing team. If you find yourself looking down the long barrel, then you end up wanting to smash your controller into tiny little black bits.

you need to learn how to use pistol whip then.. either roll while realoding or walk up and pistol whip

But.. but.. that takes timing 'cause if you roll too early you'll start a whole new reloading animation when you get up from the roll. You don't expect me to actually play well/properly do you?

Still, rolling is only really effective from close distances. If you're far away it's easy for someone to adjust their aim mid your roll and shoot you. Since you lose more damage during a roll then....
 
For what it's worth,every ranked deathmatch game I've played,you start out with that shitty ass pistol that takes a million non head shots to kill someone,basically everyone starts running around unarmed boxing each other,it is quite possibly the worst deathmatch ever in the ranked mode.

if you roll at the right time you will reaload while rolling and skip the animation, but it is much more effect to walk up to your enemy and swipe his weapon, then bash him on the head with it

it doesnt make the game bad jsut makes it different\

That's far more fun than it should be. I often retreat behind a wall/corner in a one on one battle, toss my weapon on the ground and grab the guy following me's weapon out of his hand when he comes barreling around the corner and do the same... or shoot him in the face with it.

It's often met with a "The FUCK?!" especially since the game is relatively new and people don't know the ins and outs yet. :lol

Problem here is,no one knows how to make a good game,room hosts give the teams WAY too much money and thus it makes the whole point of the game stupid,because you have entire teams running around with Super Dragons and that one hit frisbee disk or whatever in the first round.This is where a good matchmaking system would have came in to save the day,but no,they can't even get that right :P

dude add up my gamertag i play with a crew who knows the deal and isnt shouting "niggers" and "faggots" into their microphone every 5 minutes like every other jackass on xbox live (its really bad on PDZ for some reason)

the hawk is only 4000, so you can buy a hawk and armor with the modest starting amount of 5000 credits...

but yeah, i agree that people givetoo much starting money....
hell, i was in a 6 on 6 and the starting sum was 15000...

first round i bought a superdragon, shotgun, armor and a revive kit...

then i ran out into the old town and killed their whole team before my team arrived...

this other guy i met that night was just laughing saying "dude, thats so unfair"

From what I've seen of it this far, Perfect Dark is broken, entirely. The open environments in the single player game would be fun if it didn't mean accidentally wandering in to the vision of someone 2 miles away and blowing one of your objectives.

Yeah... that doesn't happen.

The enemies are BLIND in this game. Unless one of them turns and looks directly at you from 15 feet or so away they don't react. And I'm playing on Perfect Agent. Hell, in the second mission (club) heading towards the second enforcer, you can walk (left near the wall) right passed the guards sitting on the boxes and they never see you.

They are psychic however. If they're alerted to your prescence and you scope aim at someone they automatically spin around and start shooting at you before you even do anything. :lol
 
You know what I thought would be cool: Rare should make some of the single player levels available online. I think the Bridge portion of mission 12 would be awesome in like...onslaught or capture of the flag.
 
Very. After they finish porting over some of the Goldeneye mp levels, I hear Facility should be the first...

I could see some interesting game types. How about "pacifist" game type where everybody has to horde weapons in their base and go around disarming other people. LOLZ.

Damn, this game must suck a lot, I keep hearing stuff like this.

But as for the reloading problem, doesn't this game have a one shot -> one kill option? I always thought that was the most fun and realistic way to play games like Goldeneye and PD (64). The aiming there was harder though due to the weird joystick aiming that took some getting used to.

I know what you said and I agree. I was just talking about what they're apparently working on at the moment.

"Pacifist" sounds cool, but it's screaming for a juggernaut-like setup with uneven teams. More on the pacifist side of course. Even teams on both sides doesn't sound like it'd be well rounded... especially if the armed side has a bunch of heavy weapons. :lol
