It looks like a thrift shop vomited on the P5 characters which I guess is fun for a dancing theme, but it feels a bit weird when you compare it to the minimalism is design change the P4 cast received.

Beat the game at just over 100 hours.
I think the social links in Persona 4 were a bit stronger, although I think

A shame they basically erased Akechi out of the story though, Out of all of the villains, he's the one that doesn't get to have a redemption or heart change and is instead killed off screen.

Getting killed off-screen is his change of heart and redemption.
It's funny because later on you get a book with game cheats. So you're cheating while playing a game in a game where you changed the heart of a cheater.
I guess cheating in a popular game is the difference as it breaks a balance. It hurts the other players and the company.

finished the 7th palace. fun dungeon, great length and good boss. all i wanted. but they
overused the mice gimmick. should have cut the last stretch and turn the same area into a proper maze instead or something else.
Yeah this was my biggest let down with this game. The baddies just all came up as straight cartoony megalomaniacs compared to
Adachi and I think it helps how his story is a lot more low key, no world ending affair, just a guy who is a scumbag using his powers for his own twisted enjoyment. Whilst Shindo doesn't really have a moment to shine or show off how bad he is. Though in general, I don't quite enjoy the grandiose gods and demons moment these games tend to have either 
Also liked the s links better in P4 for the main characters, though I enjoyed the side characters in P5 more than those in P4.

Playing in NG+, I definitely have to agree that adding more "group hangout" events would be great, if only to make up for (post palace 4)
Unfortunately I fear that it'll pull from the "friends (guys/girls) are dicks to each other" well for laughs like P4 in the inevitable rerelease. I expect at least one expanded "the guys try really hard to pick up girls and fail" scene because those are just hilarious in the main game

the beach and Hawaii. The beach should have been like beach volleyball or some shit, not the girls fucking off to do their own and then getting saved or something (?) buy the guys. Hawaii doesn't need to be explained really, but it's baffling everyone didn't get together to hang out on the last day. Like seriously what are Yusuke, Makoto, and Ann doing other than hanging out with the people they risk their life with constantly?

You know, as I get further (slowly) into the game, the thing that's sticking with me the most is probably how absolutely amazing everyone's awakening is.
I mean, I'm still a fan of the Evokers from 3 in terms of presentation (of summoning, I mean), but as I recall you don't even see anyone awaken besides yourself (and to be fair, P3 spoilers,
).
And I do like 4's whole "I am the shadow, the true self", but this, this, this is terrific.

The Sun social link is really neat, and I'm sad I missed out on it for my first run.
Sure but compared to the game I just came off (Yakuza 0) he/she is pretty much just that though. We aren't shown he/she showing off their ingenuity or for the most part the philosophy behind the decisions, how they arranged themselves to be on top of the food chain. Like I can't call her/him a very memoriable baddie, I've already forgotten their scenes... Other then wanting to take
over Japan.
I'll admit compared to Persona 4, Persona 5's endgame
villain does a lot more than whatever we got in P4 and feels like a threat, but I prefer human drama to supernatural elements taking the key story beats.

I played that part in English. I'm not there yet in my NG+ run. I enjoyed her English dub so I will probably like the Japanese one as well.

So why do people hate Dungeon 5 so much? I though it was quite good. Really awesome evironment, better variety than most of the early dungeons and didn't seem particularly long either. First one that I did in a single day. Combat was a nice balance where it was enough to keep my on toes but never frustrating. If I were to rank the dungeons to this point it would be 2>5=4>3>1

Dungeon 5 wasn't bad. The music wasn't great, but yeah, the environment was pretty neat. I think most people hate it because of the first part, which is a slog, especially if you're a nerd like me and choose to fight everything.
Dungeon 7 is the drizzling shits.

I just dropped $16 on DLC for this game. I feel dirty lol. I got all the special Personas and the protagonist avatars and theme.
I felt the same way but the protagonist's (and most of them really) is one of the nicest looking console themes I've ever seen, and Beneath The Mask instrumental is definitely a nice choice still.
They're pretty nice deals too, you get an awesome theme and three avatars.

Definitely agree that the first section was the worst. I expected it to repeat based on the various screams in this thread but the 2nd and 3rd sections changed things up nicely.

Grabbed the art book off of Amazon Japan, and it's pretty damn awesome. My favorites are the really really early sketches including:
punk rock Goemon, a much much better Prometheus than the one we got and one that has MC in the skull mask and Ryuji in a clown mask.

Prior to the game's release, I was afraid she would be a very pandering character aimed at Persona 5's core demographic, akin to Chiaki Nanami from Danganronpa 2. Thankfully, they did a good job with her characterization.

IS there a way to auto-advance dialouge manually. Sometimes i'd wish it would go without me pressing a button, but then other times i like to be in control. It's a really small complaint but pressing the d-pad should toggle auto-advance or something.

I got spoiled who the traitor was. The tag on a video was "Goro is the fucking traitor" haha. Admittedly I'm not even bummed about knowing this since it seems super obvious that it's going to be him, I'm in palace 6 and I already know from screenshots of stuff late game that he leaves the party. I'm guessing there are still other twists and moments ahead besides finding this out, right?
