As someone that was frustrated with the direction P3 and P4 went, and the constant spinoffs of those games, this really gives me hope for this one. It looks like it might be more like P1 or P2.

Keep in mind though I say this as someone that prefers real SMT games, and P3 and P4 definitely were a far cry from that.

Honestly, Persona 5 looks like it's combining the best aspects of both P1/P2's and P3/P4's stylisations and that is far more interesting to me than a rehash of P1/P2's style.

Also glad to see a 5th potential party member, there were 5 chairs in the initial promo pics for the game so we may be looking at the full party at the moment.

Guessing the 5 chairs was just to represent Persona FIVE. It wouldn't make much sense to have a 4 active, 5 total party setup.

They'll probably be back in one form or another, there's a point called "Cooperation" in the main menu that hints at a similar function.

Social Links are called Community in Japan, and there is a section in the camp screen titled "Cooperation". That might be our new SLink system.

Yeah one thing I don't appreciate about P4 is that the dungeon design is quite bland and repetitive. P5 seems leaps and bounds better in this department, and goddamn I love the idea of the group jumping into the handcrafted painting on the wall that connects the dungeon around. So much swag.

Watching the trailer, again, it can cut a lot of fat and be a much better showing. The high-pitched grating and nonstop dialogue throughout is frustrating and there are far too many anime cutscenes and the sporadic gamplay sections have nothing unifying them. It's really weird after coming off the first 2 trailers which were tighter and more stylish.

I thought so too, but he's most likely NewJun. The collar and the hairdo's pretty similar.
