Petition to make Ailynn a mod

I think it is...

Is that him on the right?

Crazy Buttocks On A Train. It was a dummy account used by several mods to spread rumours and FUD. People thought it was one user, but instead it was a shared account.
Oh him, I remember now. So, is that what they do on Reee now? Just create dummy accounts and pretend to be insiders? lmao

GAF has enough mods and the mods are good mods. We don't need more mods. Just because someone is likeable or posts good content. It does not mean he / she / xir / xhe etc. will be a good moderator. Women also do not make good mods. Women become too emotional when they are mods and other mods tend to cut female mods way too much slack. So no, we have enough mods and the mods we have are good and fair.
Virex, please don't get banned like this. I love you too much to see you go out on such a low note

What is there to be banned for? I didn't insult anyone or break any rules. If getting banned because someone is offended then it's not better than ERA. Nor did I say anything personal. We have enough mods on GAF. And the mods are fair as well. I get temp banned before, but deserving so. I don't see what I did wrong. Being offended(not talking about you) isn't a good reason to be banned.

Being a liked person or a friendly or popular member on a forum isn't reason to be a mod either. The road to hell is often paved with good intentions

I'm still here. I had a real bad night and overreacted. It's not one shitty post that will keep me away from here. I also don't report posts. Never have, never will. Life always finds a way.
I like this attitude.

I know I get reported many times/night.

Some people don't like it but it is what it is.

I don't report them in return, I figure the world will sort itself out, and I'll still be there in the end.

It takes a thin skin to report every post you don't like.

They're just trying to prevent world domination.

There's always tomorrow night.

That's all fine. It's the comments generalising female mod behaviour that makes you sound like an idiot (or sexist).

Some moderation is done with enforcement mechanics, some is done by conversational mediation. Not everyone good at the latter is meant for the former. This isn't just because of what it takes to make that call being different from what it takes to recognize when someone is being shitty or not, but because it is difficult to be that authority while also being warmly received and deeply engaged. If one's influence is most effectively mobilized into a positive force as a mediator, it is best not to give them authority to "betray trust" that would keep them a bit distanced. Better to give that to the stoic advisor than one whose vibe and sentiments you wish to be embraced and internalized by others.

Ah good old sexism. Seems like any comment someone doesn't agree with is either racist, homophobic, islamophobic, sexist, transphobic etc. it's tiresome

I think mods should not elected this way. It's kinda a difficult task imo. You may not be pleasing a lot of people when you are around. Or Some people who don't like some sort of authority being around may start taking pot shots at the mod just for the glee of stirring the pot and see what happens next either. Or even people may think you were too kind in regards of some action made in the past. Or you are too much of an ass. Or you are too much biased to certain subjects. Overall you can pretty do your job of mod just fine and still people may even dislike you in the end of the day. It's a difficult task, not to say a shitty job imo.

That pretty much applies to the rest of the staff.

Agreed. And none of this is about Ailynn as I'm not familiar with her postings yet.

Making popular/very active members mods leads to the celebrity mod problem this place had back in the day. Mods should be fairly anonymous, while transparent. Meaning we should know who they are and what decisions they make, but they shouldn't be well-known forum posters who people like/dislike and who like/dislike members before taking on the role.

They need to be level-headed people who are mostly lurkers and who definitely stay out of arguments, posting fanboy type stuff etc as biases are inevitably going to emerge (or be perceived to exist) if active members in debates become mods. It was an issue back in the day and is an issue that carried over to Era. EviLore has done a great job avoiding that pitfall here. Let's keep it that way.

You made a generalised statement concerning an entire gender. As a negative. Without anything to back it up.
Whuch is why i called you an idiot. Others might see it as sexist.

Idiot is your point of view. Fire is evil from a certain point of view.

An ideal mod should be someone who doesn't give a shit outside of keeping the peace and limits their interaction on the boards to the pursuit of such. Regular visitors/posters are a bad idea. Too much baggage. Plus I think Ailynn is too nice to sentence her to that fucking iron maiden.

I almost became a person who would report often but realized the same thing you did as well.
