PGR3 Car select(56k lol)

The problem is, despite all the extra polys here, the appearance of the cars is very similar to last generation. I will wait and see, however, as there is a lot of additional lighting during the game. Still, both PGR1 and 2 had shit lighting in comparison to the GT games (technically, they were superior...but the end results did not appear so)...

That's because GT baked the lighting onto the texture. Never had detailed lighting in game.

This 2006 Hulme F1 needs to be in the game:

...and guess what? That was a better method considering the hardware limitations. The "detailed lighting" of certain XBOX racers did not result in realistic visuals.

PGR2 had some of the ugliest lighting I've seen in a racer. Hated the way it looked. Yet, it was technically superior (in most ways) to GT4.

wow. weird ass lookin' cars. I imagine it'll look way better in the game, though, so I'll wait on my opinion til I see people talkin' about it.

I don't know if you've played much PGR2, but in many cases it looked extremely realistic. Especially on a HDTV in widescreen.

Basically if you're game is made up of photos...it will look photorealistic in certain conditions. PD did that and I agree it turned out great. I am doing the same for my own game. But next gen it'll be far more apparent when you resort to things like that. PD looks like they know what they are doing with the next gen stuff, if the "GT5" screens are any indication.

People saying this looks like shyte have right. I mean all it has to render is one friggin car on a bland background so they could make this model at least 500K polys with proper lighting and self-shadowing. That's all. It still looks killer in-race, though.

I guess people are struggling for complaints now eh?

Fuck yea, you go into a show room to pick out a sweet looking ride and you are presented with that crap? Kills the excitement.

PD was able to make 4000 polygons cars in GT4 that were good looking as 20,000 polygon XBox game cars because of one single advantage: No car deformation.

I think you would probably take it out for a test drive first?

Anyone have the PGR3 shot w/ the back of the Ferrari close up, where you can see the grill perforations and whatnot?

Yeah, I've played PGR2 in 480p and felt that it looked like shit. Ok, perhaps that's a bit harsh, but it's one of the least visually appealing racing games I've played in the last few years. They designed it for still shots, not for motion. I absolutely detest the way it looks in motion.

Hey kids, this game just got a 10 on 1up. So yeah, take your negative comment threads and well...you know what to do with them.

Exactly, and its the brightest room in the entire game what do you want? There's a reason for that you know.

A PC game played in 720p without any AA looks absolutely beautiful. EXTREMELY clean and crisp image quality that is more pleasing than what a PC monitor delivers. Even without any AA, these games will look awesome.
I heavily doubt many understand what you just said, cuz you worded it poorly.

He means that if he plays a PC game like Doom3 or sumpin on his Sony CRT HDTV at a resolution akin to 1280x720, with no AA, it looks better in motion, to him, than what he gets at 1280x1024 on his PC monitor.

Hence, even 720p with no AA should have very good IQ in motion. I think he's counting on some scanline help here; we do roll with Sony CRTs in these parts.
