PGR3 trailer in 720p

People with AMD 64 bitching.. it's not about your CPU, it's about your CLOCK.. if it's an athlon 1.8... i don't know...

Also, try changing Players.. Media Player Classic has a hard time showing that video here (even tho it only uses 40% cpu when doing it), while regular microsoft media player 10 plays them nicely. (and they also only use 40% of my cpu)

Also, at 51 seconds, the blue car gets past the red car and i don't see red car reflections on the blue car..
So it's still only environment reflections?

looks like. but give it time--stuff like that may not get implemented until the very end.

I'm not bitching at it... i'm just looking at it and noticing that we're not there yet..
To tell you the truth, i couldn't care less about this game.. :D
Unless it plays like burnout.

- it's often because mpc default renderer is VMR7/9, wmp10 use system default, sure the image quality sucks on nvidia card (because nvidia doesn't care about video rendering at all) but at least you can see it. Options > Playback > Output
- about your cpu ... hyperthreading ?

I think this video goes to show that the next gen has the possibility of being a huge leap (even though some of the 360 stuff we've seen hasn't been). Also, it shows that it's not just about the hardware being able to do more polys and terraflops. It's about the hardware enabling developers to use new techniques like photo-based textures to enhance the realism. That's what really makes the difference.

P4 2.6 GHZ 1GB

Stuttering like crazy on WMP, runs perfectly fine with other players, eg. Nero showtime

runs at 10 FPS on my computer lol!

dark how do you do that?

Hit the options and the performance tab. From there, check out the advanced button and look at the video acceleration area. I suppose that might work...

You should first check out the video card properties first, though. Try disabling hardware overlays through your video card control panel. I know you can do this on nVidia cards very easily.

9800 and 6800 without any problem here :D

man, who would have known that WMVHD would cause so many problems. It is a 8mbit feed though :O

Just watched it in 720p (1gig ram, Athlon 64 3500+, ati 9800) and wow, now that is truely beautiful graphics. Honestly this is the only x360 game that I consider next gen worthy. It is really fantastic. :)

just ran the video on my desktop computer, damn that looks fucking awesome. 720p trailers should be the standard from now on :P

Heh...i'm on a 0.5GHz PIII...I don't even dare watch that vid...forget frames per second, i'd have to count seconds per frame.

720 played completely smooth using WMP 10, 2.6ghz A64 (4100+), 6800GT. 100% CPU usage though. Temp shot way up.

Game looks gorgeous but the buildings still give me that cardboard vibe for some reason. Makes it look more like a set than an environment. Great texture and lighting but the polygonal detail seems lacking. I suppose thats understandable given the size of the maps though, and its less noticable in a racing game anyway.

Looking forward to seeing how this Gotham TV stuff plays out, hopefully it'll give online racing games a needed shot in the arm. If its successful I bet everyone else apes the hell out of it.

Actually, the new things added to Live is supposed to allow games that functions. PGR3 is just much more stylized. It's called spectator mode

Dissapointed.
I'm going home now to view it, but how the hell can anyone be disappointed with this? From the shitty vids yesterday, this game still looked hot. Honestly, it's gonna be hard for the PS3 to show a noticeable advantage in the racing genre. This has traditionally been a very competitive genre for visuals. Look at GT3/4 and Forza. A less powerful machine held the visual crown for a long time. With diminished returns this gen, I can see PGR3 standing toe-to-toe with the best. I mean, it'll come down to details really. That and the number of opponents. I can only imagine a TD:Le Mans game with realistic number of cars on track at once. But as far as car details, with the amount of polys these systems can chuck, it's down to the artists IMO. Fortunately for Sony, Polyphony Digital still has the best in the biz. If those guys were smart, they'd demand a raise or threaten to jump ship to the highest bidder. :lol Whoever gets them is gonna kick some ass IMO.

But yeah, you can't possibly be disappointed with this vid. You're gonna be powerful disappointed the rest of the gen IMO, if that's the case. PEACE.

It looks good, but the cars still look fake compared to the surroundings. Seems like a problem Bizarre will never get rid of. I prefer the photorealistic look of GT`s cars.

Bring on RSC3. Now THAT would look incredible if DICE got around to make another one. Which will propably never happen. Thanks a lot Xbox gamers and EA.

I really don't think it's just a memory bandwidth issue. Here how mine and my friend's rigs faired with the video:

1. 1.9Ghz Barton (2600+ Athlon XP, 333Mhz FSB), nForce 2 ultra mobo with 1GB of dual channel PC2700 (2x 512MB DIMMs), 7200RPM IDE Maxtor 2MB cache HDD, 32MB GF2MX = Choppy as hell. Unwatchable.

2. 3.0C P4 (3Ghz Northwood, HT, 800Mhz FSB), Intel 865PERL with 2GB of dual channel PC3200 (4x 512MB DIMMs), 7200RPM SATA WD 8MB cache HDD, 64MB GF3Ti200= Perfect playback

3. 1.6Ghz Dothan (Pentium M 725, 400Mhz FSB) Intel 855GME with 1.5 GB of single channel PC2700 (1x 512MB SODIMM + 1x 1024MB SODIMM), 4200RPM IDE 2MB cache HDD, Shared Intel Extreme graphics = 90% perfect playback

4. 2.4Ghz Northwood P4 (533Mhz FSB, no HT), Intel 875 with 3GB of dual channel PC2700 (2x 512MB + 2x 1024MB DIMMs), 7200RPM IDE Seagate 8MB cache HDD, 128MB Matrox Parhelia = Perfect playback

5. 2.4Ghz Northwood P4 (533Mhz FSB, no HT), Asus 875 with 1GB of dual channel PC2700 (2x 512MB DIMMs), 7200RPM IDE Seagate 8MB cache HDD, 64MB GF4Ti4200 = Perfect playback

6. 2.2Ghz Winchester 939 A64 (3500+), ASUS K8T800 Pro with 1GB of dual channel PC3200 (2x 512MB DIMMs), 7200RPM IDE Seagate 8MB cache HDD, 256MB ATI X800Pro = Perfect playback

7. 1.33Ghz Pentium 3 (133Mhz FSB), Ali CyberALADDiN-T with 1GB of PC133 (2x 512MB SODIMMs), 4200RPM IDE 2MB cache HDD, Shared Ali CyberALADDiN-T = Totally choppy. Unwatchable.

I think the processor horsepower has a lot to do with it (although, that means that the 2600+ Athlon XP in my ghettobox is a total wimp compared to the 725 Pentium M in my Tablet PC!).

Oh and BTW, anyone else notice the 60fps reflections on the cars? :D

There was nothing in that video that appeals *TO ME* in the slightest. Sure there were pretty scenes, a well rendered city... but look closer you'll see the side effects of a rush job - poor animation, the lighting still isn't right, the city, like another posted, is like a cardboard cut out. XB360 & PS3 is capable of much more than that video shows...

You're gonna be powerful disappointed the rest of the gen IMO, if that's the case.

I think you're right.

ack my 2.0g xenon is having problems with it. It could be my vid card pushing 2 monitors at 1600x1200 though...

from what I could see BGs look really good, still need some work on car lighting.

I know bizzare is a UK dev, but why keep showing that ugly ass TVR?

So it's still only environment reflections?

I think it's extremely processor intensive to implement reflection of cars on other cars... Correct me if I'm wrong though..

Thats what I'm saying. That goddamn TVR drags down every screenshot and video they show.

Thanks for the video, Blim :)

It worked fine on my laptop apart from some occasional pausing (one or two, a second each time) My machine is a 2.6Ghz Intel Pentium 4, 256mb RAM, 64mb ATI card

I got a 1.6GHz Pentium-M with ATI 9600Pro, and it plays choppy in media player classic. But luckily, I also have BSplayer, and it plays quite nicely there. Only a few stutters, but hardly noticeable...seriously. BSplayer is the way to go. PEACE.

any word whether we'll be able to save our xbox live matches/replays to the HDD? that's one thing i liked when i played FPS online pc games...recorded every match just in case some crazy insane shit happened during the game

ok, now that was mind blowing. So fucking crisp, HD gaming .... I believe!!

Agreed, Blim, dont ever think that we dont appreciate the shit you do for us. Thanks dude

not sure how people aren't impressed with it :(

Think about what forum you are on. It should be easy then. Yes, I agree Blim is the shit. Thank you for all your work. Especially vids. I encode a lot of yours and then take them to work on my PSP. No, the irony isn't lost on me either

I don't see how people could be disappointed. I think I'd be perfectly happy if PGR3 was the best looking game in the generation :P

I'm very impressed with it, but its not without its flaws.

-The lighting on the cars seems off
-The cars don't seem to move at all, just the wheels
-No sound effects or damage when the cars bump each other
-TVR is fucking ugly

These things are likely to change as development continues (Though the TVR will always be ugly) but they contribute to an "unnatural" impression when watching the trailer.

One thing I want to see in future racing games (if not this one) is dynamic reflections of cars. These are just environment-maps (which are great), but I too am curious to know if having cars reflect off each other incurs that much processing overhead. I mean, it only have to be one level of reflection. It's not like you need to see reflections of reflections or anything. But that's an inconsequential nitpick, and more of a wishlist kinda thing. Game looks sweet-ass. :) PEACE.

As great as this video is, I'd love to see direct capture video that reflects IQ of the game like this:

Not impressed myself. Looked better in that crappy low res video posted yesterday. The lighting is 'meh' and the cars just don't look good. I do like the interior view though.

Then again the only next gen stuff I've been impressed with is GoW and the Sony E3 demos.
Everything else is a minor leap over current PC/console stuff.
