Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst for US?!?

Someone at PSO World (to give credit where credit is due..) pointed out this link that lists Sega's upcoming releases. Needless to say, PSO Blue Burst is listed as a Spring 2005 release.

I was hoping that Sonic Team would do this for Gamecube or PS2, but I'll take any version I can get my hands on for Episode IV...

I want to play PSO again but the game does not warrant a monthly fee dammit

PSO is still one of my best experiences with an online game though. Too much fun

Sega really do like screwing over the PSO fanbase by moving it around. First from DC to GC/Xbox, and now from the consoles to PC for Episode IV.

I'm happy to wait for PSU though. Assuming we don't all die first before Sega get round to releasing some more information about it ...

Damn now I need a moist towelette I just jizzed all over my keyboard after that news. :lol

I love me some PSO. I can't wait! I'm a nit pissed that its going to be a PC release but hey! I'll take any PSO I can get. Maybe they will have a more cohesive story for BB? Nah probably not. :/

If I'm not paying monthly for Xbox/GC PSO, I'm not paying monthly for its PC port + extras. I'll stick to free PC PSO V2.

Oh, and my dream come true would happen if Phantasy Star Universe had control ripped right from Phantom Dust.

I'm not surprised. With the weakness of the PC platform in Japan, Sega will need western sales to make some of their investment back.

I think they should do a PS2, Xbox and GC release while they're at it.

I'm willing to make the switch just for the server side saving. I lost three characters in my lifetime playing PSO I&II on GC (from Lvl 40 up to Lvl 82) due to that el crappo double save techinque Sonic Team was using for a while to ward off all the duping that was going on.

To be able to play PSO without having to worry about that and the whole dupe/not dupe drama will be worth my time and investment (I need to upgrade my PC...I'm running a TNT 2 Ultra w/a PIII 450...can you say O-L-D with me)

I'll only buy it if you drop your weapon and money when you die (like in the original PSO).

I only played the first free one on the Dreamcast. You're telling me they took out the death penalties? That changes a lot about the dynamics!

Sega can bite me. I've really had enough of their shit with this series.

If you're not going to constatnly provide new content, fix what is broken, prevent cheating and moderate play behavoir, there's no point in charging a monthly fee. I know this version has GMs, but its honestly too little and too late. There are new P2P RPGs I can play for free online and the fact that this isn't even offered to the existing Xbox and Gamecube audience is appalling.

I loved PSO III as a single player game, but it was so broken online it was just plain sad, just like the other installments. The ranking system is determined by how much meseta you collected online in both PSO games. Yeah, think about that for a second. Some guy who does nothing but dupe money can be ranked as #1, as opposed to earning it through wins. Also, all the best cards in the game could be obtained in Action Replay, but thankfully the dice rolls couldn't be exploited so skilled players still had some chance of winning.

If you want a game with a monthly fee, play an MMO like WoW or FFXI, at least you'll know where that monthy fee is going - to maintain the servers, help the game designers have funds to create new content and pay the GMs. Better yet, just play Guild Wars when it comes out, there are no monthly fees.

Only thing I'd want from PSO Ep. IV would be the OST, fuck the game.

That mechanic was an invitation for griefers to screw over their companions for quick meseta and weapons. I'm glad they yanked it in the later versions. I don't want to be stuck wondering if every new person I group with is waiting to bail on the party at a crucial moment, then run back in after the rest of us are dead and snatch our cash and items. :p

Damn sega and making us pay for everything. Why can't we just get a normal version with online play? PSO Episode 1 & 2 is like crack for GCN. I think I spent more time on the couch then with my girlfriend in my entire life playing that game.. (Yes, I am pathetic.)

Ah, cool news, I was wondering how EPIV was going to end up over here. I may pick it up depending on when it exactly comes around and whether we'll have any solid info on PSU by then. Mainly if it's going to be online or not as well.
