Small Hotfix:

We've included the following bug fixes in this hotfix:

  • Fix for audio problems in dialogues
  • Added mouse smoothing option in the settings. The default option for mouse smoothing is now OFF, but you can turn it ON in settings.

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped us by providing their feedback and bug reports!

If you do encounter any other bugs or would like to give feedback on your experience of The Precinct so far, we'd love to hear from you either in our Steam Forum or on Discord.

Got it for PS5 pro, fun game. I totally understand why they use comic style stills for the story, but I just skip em. Game play loop is cool. Music fits 80's vibe. They really should have went for 60 fps though. I'll definitely finish it.

The gameplay can feel a bit tedious, but it captures the police perspective — kind of like a GTA experience from the other side. After all, being a cop is a job.

Tried the demo on PC and it's a fun game.

Can play it at 60 fps, so eventually that's where I'll end up picking it up.

Ok yawl making me wanna try this. It sounds decent. I must admit, I do plan on pulling over and arresting white people only so. Sorry my brothers?

It is addicting to pile on offenses on people. Starting to think I'd be an asshole cop IRL, ha!

Anyone know how to arrest two people without any getting away? I've done it once or twice but usually lose one of them.
Also is there a charge for someone firing a gun? I end up just getting them on resisting arrest if they run.

You do play as a young black cop so have at it :messenger_grinning_smiling:

I've been able to arrest two at once, either by luck because Kelly will grab one while I get the other. Also during helicopter shifts, choose an area known for drug deals and you'll be able to double up on perps pretty frequently. You don't make the arrests per say, but you are able to keep calling for back up street officers and cruisers to do the job for you while you shine the spotlight on them from above. You'll score between 4-450XP each time and the busts occur at a pretty decent clip.

Not sure if there's a charge for firing a firearm. If it ever escalates to that, I usually end up just shooting the guy lol

Don't forget to use a body bag on the corpse. 50XP

I pulled someone over yesterday on suspicion of drunk driving and when I pulled him out of the car to do a breathalyzer, he pushed me to the ground and ran off. I chased him, and eventually shot him with the taser but I got penalized big time for it! Like what the fuck. Assaulting an officer, avoiding arrest and I cant tase your ass when you run away? :messenger_expressionless:

Good to know. Yea I don't think the game counts shoving the officer to run as Assault. I think that's the issue. The perp has to actually punch.

Bought on my Series X. Game is awesome so far. Chief had a audio glitch early, but seems to have cleared up. I have found the controls to be easy to use, graphically for a $29.99 top down game, I have no complaints. Time to go to another hot dog stand!

I had this too on the Pro. Went away after that scene and no issues since.

I think it's basically, if you never see their health bar than all you can do is tackle when they run. No weapons or punching.

The prickity prick thing I do is run plates on like 75% of the cars I get behind :messenger_tears_of_joy:

It's fun just to tap LB and do the woop woop with the siren just to get them to pull over lol

I haven't been able to figure this out yet either. They always go different directions and Kelly always chases the same one as me. I managed to grab two burglary suspects as they were coming out of a place, I cuffed one immediately and chased the other (Kelly on my heels the whole way), and eventually caught him. It still said one suspect escaped and when I got back to the scene, the cuffed guy was gone.

Picked this up on Fanatical for $21, and played through the intro. Game seems pretty legit, I definitely had some funny moments already. Game plays flawlessly in ultrawide too, so that was a nice surprise.

I really wanted to like this but I just don't. The gameplay loop is a little boring after you've done a few hours of missions.

I can easily see people getting really into this though, It's not a bad game, it's just not for me.

Same here. I am not feeling it

Rockstar could benefit from this company as GTA 1 and 2 remaster using this style would be great
This game's objectively worse than the PS1 GTA games by virtue of not having a consistent top-down POV.
GTA's a 3D game and remastering/remaking the 2D games is a step in the wrong direction.

That said, the PS1 GTAs as-is could make great arcade cabinet games that Rockstar could sell.
The noise that they generate would be a great addition to any bar, club or upscale restaurant.
Trick will be sourcing the CRTs and adapting the controls to something that works on an arcade cabinet.
Maybe dual joysticks and dual buttons...

Fantastic game so far. I just apprehended my first criminal on the org chart.

Any reason to pick one shift type over another though? Is it just gameplay variety?

Been playing this a lot recently on a gaming laptop with dual sense plugged in. Runs great and honestly is pretty good.

Yeah there is a bit of repetition in that you see all the crimes games has to offer in around 10 hours and story missions could be way better than they really are. Plus melee combat is terrible( but you honestly never really use it)

But the map is great, world feels alive and driving mechanics are excellent. Even damage mechanics are great, which is a suprise and not something I expect from a small indie studio. The graphics are also pretty good, imo. Also gun impact and how enemy AI react to it is great as well.

Currently just going on custom 24 hrs shifts and just enjoying the game( have unlocked almost all upgrades and weapons), and not bothering with story missions. Can see myself playing this for a few more days. Definitely got my money worth.

Would recommend this to anyone who wants a small cozy open world game with good driving mechanics wherein you can also shoot some dudes with some suprising amount of attention to details, especially if you want to get lost role playing as a cop from a 80s-90s movie.

Ps: for people having trouble catching crimes with 2 dudes, you should always call officer backup as soon as you can. Also one guy always runs farther and faster and you should prioritize him. The second dude will always hide in a dumpster within the yellow circle and is generally quite easy to find.

This looks quite interesting. Does it have a story? An endless sandbox? Funnily enough I was thinking I might enjoy it cause the intention feels a bit like Shadows of Doubt and I look at the Steam page and there's actually a Precinct and Shadows of Doubt bundle.

Looks cool and never heard about it before this thread. Inclined to buy it because the purple hairs don't like it, but how is this not pushing 60fps?
