Phantom Blade Zero Gameplay Demo

I think this looks great!!! But I do think enemies take too much damage to go down.
I think that in this game this is a good thing, because the playable character also seems to have a lot of hp, so the player can use a lot of different moves to parry, block and attack, while the enemies can also show their unique movesets, this allow some cool combos and stuff.


This game seems a lot more similar to Devil May Cry than Dark Souls combat wise.


Which is awesome in my opinion.
 
Its overanimated af and that is absolutely one thing all these chinese "soulslikes" have in common.

So far, I have read impressions from 3 people who played it and they all say it's a new standard for action games, a generational leap. It's focused around weapons, which all feel different as in Bloodborne, with its own stats (you don't level up the character, but weapons, which impact the gameplay).

Quite challenging in normal mode, due to the amount of mechanics you need to master (with 360 degree parries/defense moves).

Naysayers are gonna eat a massive crow with this one.

How many games had Wukong devs made before? Stellar Blade's? Lies of Pi's? Very bad argument.

People who have played a full demo sound more in the know that haters in a forum. But you just need eyes to check it out by yourself unless you claim that 1 hour gameplay is all lies.

By the way, there are EX FROM people in this studio and Yoshida greenlit Sony's funding too. They all must be wrong.

I played it and it's fantastic. Can't wait!

Not sure what you mean there.

Don't think there are many postal service simulators out and Doom tries something different with each release, to varying amounts of success.

Very true, but i'd say that's better than having those shitty robotic animations like we were still in the 2000s that many Western studios still have.
True but my Souls journey started with games that did not rely on flashy animations and they invented and defined this whole genre,Demons Souls and Dark Souls.

That aside there is another aspect that bores me to tears..the setting is straight up boring to me,same for sekiro btw zZzZzZ

I don't like their aesthetic either. Boring as fuck. You look at fromsoft offerings, and from game to game, aesthetics are always changing, are original and take a lot of imagination to create. You look at these Chinese/Korean games, and it's as if they typed "Chinese assets" on the Epic store, bought the whole package, and built a game with it.

You are calling this game a cheap clone or whatever when it has the same guy who worked in those other games.

The previous comment is not much better, insisting on "soulslike" when this is not even that genre.

Art director is cool n all of that, but without the incredible artists Fromsoft has, you ain't getting anything worthy.

Phantom Blade Zero aesthetic isn't as fugly as something in Stellar Blade, which looks mega generic, but compared to anything fromsoft, PBZ is three leagues beneath.
 
Biggest release next year? Come on now, it looks pretty decent but its a Souls like/Nioh/Gaiden clone.

I said biggest release next year, except for GTA 6. This could be the first 90+ meta AAA game coming from China. It could pull Black Myth Wukong numbers. The Chinese are going to eat this up. I dont think 3rd place will be close

I can only speak from my perspective but I have no hype for GTA6.

For me my biggest game next year is games like Onimusha and RE9.

NP, I know you are more into games from the east. Onimusha, RE9 are also big day 1s for me. Even as a massive Onimusha fan, I don't know if 5 will be my favorite game that year, its been so long since a release, it could be hit or miss, RE9 on the other hand, we know what to expect and I feel a bit better about that release simply based on the last few RE titles.

We'll see what that top 10 favorite games looks like fall 2026.

It wouldn't be the first time the game I was most hyped about, ended up being on the bottom of that list lol

We'll see.
 
This is basically Chinese Sekiro with more emphasis on speed and flashy animations. The posture bar is there and you seem to do more posture damage when you deflect. I looooved Sekiro, most underrated From game, and I can't wait for this worthy ripoff.
 
This look way more aggressive and acrobatic than sekiro and the focus is on multiple weapons, not monoweapon, just that change a lot.
