Phantom Brave! More like AWESOME BRAVE!

Awesome game. there's so much going on, its the best tinkering around game ive played in a while. Cept my fusionist keeps dying. She's a tough one to keep alive. A few more levels should change that. Im not far but its clear to me in terms of mechanics I like this game better than Disgaea.

While the story isnt as good as Disgaea's, the characters have their charms. What I couldnt believe was 20 dollars for a new copy w/soundtrack!

*pats his own copy w/ OST*

Yup, a fine, fine sequel to Disgaea; I've clocked in about 80 hours into it, and plan on going back and doing the epilogue parts after I get caught back up again, (although with Makai Kingdom coming out soon...) :lol

Meh, I dont get the big deal. I admit I only put in about 30 mins into the game. I will come back to it after I finish shadow hearts.

You sir have left Phantom Dust unattended.

YOU SHALL PAY FOR THIS OVERSIGHT!

I need to try Phantom Brave. I got the game right when it came out and it's still wrapped.

I liked it for a little bit, but it started to drag on just a bit because I had to constantly level up everyone. I think
around the zombie level in the swamp/forest with the slippery floors
is where I stopped playing the game.

Great game. The archer class kicks ass.

There were some battles that I was grossly underpowered so I had to use a tiny bit of ingenuity. That's what I love about the game. You don't necessarily have to be super high levels to win the battles.

On some of the harder battles, I just threw my weapons and started picking up some of the enemies and throwing them off stage. Cheap? The enemies can do the same thing to you, so I call it a strategical advantage lol.

haha yeah I find the throwing off stage to be hilarious. Certainly not game breaking. Im still early in the game on my first time through but im having a blast. Options Options Options!

I've tried to get into this game and Disgaea, but I just can't. I don't have the willpower to take the time to level up multiple characters. My friend loves these games though as he has like 300 hours invested into them both. Looks fun, but too much work for me.

I think I may have videogame ADD at times. I need instant gratification. Probably explains my love of action games. But it doesn't explain my extreme liking of Metal Gear Acid though. Maybe I like to indulge in something a little more thought provoking from time to time.

Here's some tips.
You don't need to take fusionists, blacksmiths, titlistsetc. into battle beyond a certain level. They're mainly there just to perform a service at your little island.

The fusionist- fuses weapons and armors
The blacksmith- unlocks special abilities for your weapons
The titlist- puts statistic altering titles on your characters or weapons.

One class you DO want to take into battle every now and then and relegate to the background are the shopkeepers. The higher their levels, the better equipment you can purchase.

Also, if you're finding your fighters and other warriors too weak, make new ones, but make them a HIGH level. The higher the level, the more points you have to distribute among their stats. This isn't just a one time thing. The amount of points you put into a stat is how much that stat increases when you level up. For example if you create a level 20 fighter and put those 20 points into attack, then the fighter gains 20 to attack each time he levels up. After 20 levels, thats +400 to attack. It's a BIG difference from someone who has a small bonus.

Yeah, the throwing definitely isn't game-breaking. I find that it adds a new level of strategy into the game. If you keep throwing enemies off the stage, the other enemies start leveling up and overpowering you, so you have to do it with discretion. At first I was a bit skeptical of it, but it's refreshing to play a strategy game without the grid. It felt a bit looser than typical grid games, which was an interesting experience to say the least.

Yeah, the 9th stage on the ice island definately opens up alot of doors to ways of out-thinking your opponents.

Remember, tossing enemies out of bounds makes the other enemies tougher. Sometimes you just want to try and isolate-and-defeat, like any tac RPG.
