Phil Spencer on Halo 2 Anniversary

I never really got into Halo MP until H3, so I'm not too sure that I'd be missing out if H2A isn't in the works. Having said that, I do hope that the game comes out and it's successful so we could get H3A someday.

Well, Halo 2 and Halo 3 are the only Halo multiplayer titles that I liked. If Halo really is returning to form and will get rid of these "modern gaming" tropes that Reach and 4 had, then I guess I'm going to buy an Xbox this fall.

This...this excited me greatly.

Never really got to play H2 multiplayer proper in its hay day, so I will be all over this when it releases.

I'm one of those crazy people that loves the campaign, despite all its flaws.
-- You're not alone. Played through it again yesterday and still pick up interesting little quirks of map design or hear a random bit of dialogue I that I don't remember hearing before.

-- The damn ghosting on 360 emulation can be really damn distracting though :(

Also I find it really odd that he would make these comments instead of going just for a "no comment on rumors and speculation huehuehue"

I mean, it certainly looks like this is going to happen but still, I think it's really weird that he would comment on it as if it were already announced, but frame it in "oh well in this hypothetical world where this game exists".

The name looks familiar, but I don't really 'subscribe' to people's rumors.
I usually just ask my friends/colleague's. He's the guy who leaked a bunch of stuff recently that turned out true right?

I'm not a big fan of straight up leakers, they hurt the industry.
I however, am always down to talk with people who provide insight and guidance and industry nuggets.

Yes. He got the TitanFall xbox design down perfect. As well as the March update.

He also got very close to the Tier 2 countries.

Refer to this thread.

Halo2 as-is would be fun for a short while, but the game's issues would get old real quick, as Photolysis laid out above.
Plus the series has gone through some good refinements and additions; of which there would be dispute over which should be included and which shouldn't.

I for one would want the mp to be a cross between Halo3 and Halo Reach: Halo3's equipment drops, with Halo Reach's health packs & fall damage.

A map editor would be amazing too, but I doubt they'll go that far. They should though.

All in all, I'm anxious to hear what Halo2 Anniversary will entail.

Please keep all of the glitches in custom games!

I loved messing around with Halo 2's glitches. Trying to get a Spectre out of Burial Mounds with a bunch of friends was one of the most fun(and frustrating!) experiences I've had in Halo 2.

The ghosting almost ruins the darker levels. Le sigh.

I've been meaning to replay all of the games through Reach. I'm trying to finish a new game first. I'm itching to start them looking at this thread.

It's a damned tragedy that they never re-used that city design.

MS, don't make me buy an Xbone...

Halo 2 was one of the first games I was really hyped about before release. And I couldn't even play it on Xbox Live before I got 360 in 2007, because it required a credit card. Still, I'm one of the few (?) people that really loves the campaign. Some of the levels are just so good. It's been 10 years? Wow.

How was dual wielding broken in H2?
Made dual wield weapons require dual wielding to be any good, which brought on the misconception that the BR was overpowered because it was one of the only non-power weapons that didn't have dual wield capabilities and was just good on its own.

I'd be so down for Halo 2 MP again. I desperately need it to happen. It could single-handedly revive my interest in first person shooters.

I....I don't think this would be enough to get me to buy an Xbone. But damn would it make it tempting. I'm guessing my Halo friends will buy an Xbone for this and I'll just play it at their place.

Super jumps anyone?

Nothing more fun back in the day then joining a group and everyone agreeing to not shoot each other and just super jump to new areas

It is kind of sad but I just can't hold it in. I played a egregious amount of Halo 2 back in the day. I only have insanely fond feelings for that mp.

Me and you both brother still feels like many games after it lacked features it had. Truly before it's time. If they use what we know now and balance very small things H2A will be incredible.

Ah memories of original Halo 2 and bouncing the flag in CTF on that one map whose name I can never remember (midship? or maybe colossus?).

Anyway, my biggest issue here is I just don't see them bringing back clan support which, honestly, was a major perk of Halo 2 back then. We spent the entire X360 generation begging for clan support like H2's to be integrated into XBL or, at the very least, be available to developers. Microsoft balked almost every time. Very few games had any "clan" support in the X360 era and those that did (like Chromehounds) had very, very limited functions.
