Ålesund, on the western coast of Norway. Best known for its art nouveau architecture, for burning completely down in 1904, for shopping (shopping malls everywhere) and for fish. If you eat bacalao in Spain or salmon in Japan, it probably comes from here.

Taken from the top of a small mountain right in the middle of the city , looking west over the city "centre" and out to the North Sea.
This one is taken from the low, sloping mountain you see to the left of the centre of the first picture, looking north-east.

The canal that cuts through the city-centre, with the art-nouveau-museum to the left and Cavatelli, the best restaurant in town, to the right.
This one is taken by myself, on a barge directly to the right of the boats in the previous picture. This is where we enjoy our morning coffee
