If Sony REALLY wants the game to succeed they should drop the exclusivity deal, and instead just have a marketing deal. Also, is it confirmed to be exclusive? If so, why are they wording it like this?

Well Shenmue by its very design is a mish-mash of play-types.It begins as a small-scale detective story piecing together clues, interviewing towns folk and following leads. The scope expands to include QTE segments, mini-games and free battles all in a very specific environment which you are meant to become immersed in.

Perhaps you can check out original Dreamcast magazine trailer and see if any of those elements grab your fancy.

There's also free battles/Virtua Fighter versus multiple opponents. A beautiful score and a boat load of mini-games and things to collect. You can talk to everyone of the NPCs and many will have something to say about whichever stage of the story you're in.

Where did they mention that there was an exclusivity deal? From my understanding the only reason why it's coming to PS4 too and not just PC is because of Sony's help and they're obviously not going to be spending their resources on porting it to other systems. Don't see why MS or Nintendo can't offer a similar deal if they care about the project. The game is unlikely to reach the amount it really needs just for the PC version, let alone adding the 360/X1/Wii U versions into the mix. People are just grasping for reasons to shit on this campaign at this point, that stupid kotaku article should make that clear enough.

"Success" probably isn't a word that would suitable for Shenmue III in relation to sales figures and I can't imagine that Sony has any interest in it being successful for their competitors.

This keeps getting brought up on here, Shenmue III has been taken to publishers and nobody has been interested in funding it due to the fact that publishers just don't believe that there is money to be made from this game. It makes no sense for Sony to pay money for a game that will belong to Sega so that Sega can publish it on their competitor's systems.

From the info that's been released about it, there doesn't really seem to have been a valid alternative in getting this game made to what is already happening with it. It does genuinely seem to simply be a matter of this or nothing.

like the other posters say, shenmue is kind of a big mix of a lot of different genres into a unique package.

i would recommend giving them a try, 2 especially. as for now, you might want to think seriously about backing the third. with an entry fee as low as $29, why not?

You can select Brasil as the shipping destination. Says they ship everywhere.

I don't think they're allowed to change those, only add new ones. You can choose the PS4 physical copy with $100 tier. Pick which version in the survey when the Kickstarter is done.

And you're right about the entry fee. It's pretty low and at the very least I'd get to contribute to a game that lots of people want. Even if I wind up not liking the game it would be cool to be part of buzz around 3.

Many games release only on PS4+PC with no deals involved, many JRPG don't release on XBOX ONE with no deals involved.

I think that they took the way more appropiate for them, if xbox one was more suited than PS4 to get the game i think they'd release it, but it is not, imo.

Yep. So long as you're pledging enough for it, you can choose what reward tier you want, or even choose not to get anything at all. So yeah pledging $29 and just getting a digital copy is definitely possible.

That's so bizarre, if Sony wanted a more realized Shenmue 3 they would've made it exclusive. Funding a competitor's port is one of the most anti-competitive things you could pull off - I mean, it makes as much a sense as why MS would fund a Rise of the TR port for the PS4 to "achieve more success".

Nah. More is better. Maybe they can get MS to help out with an Xbox port, like Sony are for PS4

There are some Xboxes in the UK and US at least. Shenmue did well in the UK.
