Via the Shenmue 3 Kickstarter:

At the $60 reward tier, you now have the option of a physical PS4 release where previously that was only available for PC. It also comes in a backer-exclusive case!

Also new to the Kickstarter are these high reward tiers:

-Be immortalized in world of Shenmue with your picture in the harbor waiting area for the Choubu passenger boat.
-Your name will appear on the guest register at a Choubu inn. Show the world how Shenmue you are.
-Includes the $500 reward.
-Limit 64.

-Do you want to be a game of lucky hit?
-Get your face and name on an in-game Lucky Hit board.

And for people saying $60 is a bit much, this is for a physical copy that as far as we know is being produced exclusively in the numbers required for Ks backers only. That would explain the premium - they're printing just for backers, like with Bloodstained which iirc also had a premium.

Ummm.. that's the same price as a new, physical PS4 game. On the other hand, the digital PS4 version is half the cost. Can you name any new PS4 games priced like that?

Yep I went from digital version to.physical version. I still want a digital version but not sure I can really afford adding that on (if they make it possible, as they should). Definitely pledging for the physical version and will pay for the convenience of digital upon release.

Really hope they can get at least a couple million more. Those who follow Kickstarter, is this 3 day surge at the end a real thing? How big are they usually. With something as high profile as this from the off will it really make much difference?

I do wish they'd try selling the game to new fans rather than us old ones. A lot of the Kickstarter campaign has been talking about very game specific details that won't make a difference to complete newcomers. What Shenmue actually IS feels somewhat glossed over...

Awesome Japan did add a new section called "What's Shenmue" at top of KS campaign but that still needs a lot of polishing.
They are supposed to release a new video to provide more context for non-fans which hopefully should help.

Should have been in from the start but at least they realized it was important. Crazy how many devs don't seem to realize how valuable physical is for some players. And I just couldn't bite on a PC physical edition. I've only done that for collector's editions or to avoid giving Origin money.

So if I want physical I better get this now? Won't be in stores or available online when it releases?

I thought they confirmed it would be available later, but I could be thinking of Bloodstained. Having a backer exclusive box doesn't mean they can't have a normal edition later.

Will still be getting the download version but the old $60 edition didn't give me the PS4 version so it was a no go for me. Looking the project stats, there has been a bit of a jump now that this has been announced.
