Well, not a "new" game exactly. I just need a throwaway game for the month of November. I get paid big time at the beginning of December, at which time I will pick up all the holiday hits like Metroid Prime or Halo 2.

Criteria:

1) Single player only, offline
2) $30 or less
3) Gamecube or Xbox

Games I'm considering:

-Fight Night 2004
-F-Zero GX
-GTA: Vice City

I've played most exclusives for both systems. I don't like racing or most sports games. Any ideas? I'm really leaning toward Fight Night, since it's only $25, and that seems like a decent value now.

F-Zero GX is pure sex. Gets difficult after a while, though, and it's most definitely a racing game.

If you haven't played Vice City I don't see how you can justify not getting it. It will EASILY keep you occupied until December. You drive around in cars a lot, mind you.

I would say that F-zero and GTA are both better bets as single player experiences. Both are ace., and if you buy used you could probably score both for under 30 combined.

F-Zero is way over rated on these forums. Its really not that entertaining. It's pretty, visual cool, but boring as paint drying to actually play.

Have you played Metal Arms? It's one of my favorite games on the Xbox. I'm playing through it now and am about halfway through and haven't enjoyed a game as much since the original Halo.

edit: psi-ops should also be fun.

I ended up getting F-Zero GX (which I've rented before, and it's awesome) and GTA Vice City. (which I've never even touched)

good choice. vice city is good, but is completely eclipsed by san andreas. just wait for the likely xbox port. or better yet, the already-announced pc port.
