Has anyone realized that this thing only supports ONE wired controller? Looks like not only will there be no HDD as standard you're also forced to spend some $40 + 42 for a wireless controller that comes with a battery pack and recharge kit if you ever want 2 players.

I really am curious to know how you came to this conclusion.

No, because the rest of us realize there are 2 (+1 in the back so 3) USB ports.

Also, you can buy a splitter for more.

I wasn't aware that the controllers are USB based. Is this true?

Anyways, put controllers in the back sounds highly annoying in of itself.

Yes, they are USB. They will work on PCs as well.

Nevermind. Seems like I was wrong about the controller thing. *Eats minor crow* :D

Still, from 4 wired controllers to 3 is still a downgrade.

who confimed that?

especially now with the ms peripheral licensing

Robbie Bach. Then again he also said wireless would be standard :lol

DEN: Which almost seems a step backwards. If youÂ’ve got 4 player support, why are there not 4 controller ports?

Bach: Well, predominantly, because the base SKU weÂ’re shipping here is going to be wireless, and if you want to have 4 players, people will be able to get splitters, just like you can on a PS2 and play 4 players. It is just one of those things where you have to decide what youÂ’re going to optimize for, and for us, we think wirelessÂ… there will still be people who will want to use wired, which is why weÂ’ll supply one, but we think wireless is going to be the direction of the future.

Isn't there supposed to be a difference between the look of the "Core" unit and the "360"? Any pictures of those to compare? :D

is the remote IR? I guess it'd have to be to control the TV volume, but it would have been nice to be RF as well, so I could stuff the 360 in a cupboard.

Why doesn't that controller have the gray back? That looked much better. Will I have to buy a premium version? :lol

Yes, apparently $299 doesn't cover the price of the chrome dvd face.

Damn those pics are sexy.

I don't know about you guys but my anger has subsided over the price point for the new console. It pisses me off that the HDD is not standard, but word is that the HDD will still help with loading times should developers support it. I've paid 499 for a 40GB Ipod back in 2003, 500 for an import PSP with Ridge Racer, and 550 for a Pioneer CD deck for my old car. When I consider those other exorbitant electronic purchases, the Xbox 360 premium package does not seem too bad at all. My rationalization is somewhat based off of my new job fresh out of college, and as a result I will be having alot of disposable income very soon.

The only thing that may stop me from getting the 360 is the lack of compelling software. I want to see footage of real gameplay from the likes of PDZ, Madden 360, NBA 2K, Project Gotham 3, and DOA4 as those are the games I am look at for the launch. As of right now, I am not impressed. I will wait until I see near final footage to make an ultimate decision on the 360. I am hopeful things will come together though.

Regardless, I am wondering if some of you had a reaction like me. First, "FORGET THIS CRAP" followed by "OH WELL IT BETTER BE WORTH IT". It sucks being an early adopter sometimes.

That isn't much of a difference, then. I don't necessarily have a problem with the look of the Xbox 360 Core, either.

Bleah.....I just hate the Concave look of it. Means you can't stack it with other consoles/items.

You can stack it fine, and the concavity allows better airflow between shit.

I'm calming down, but still really bummed that the HDD will never be as fully utilized as it could be. That was a big selling point for me.

I've decided to hold back on buying one until Halo 3 launches. Lots of XBox games to catch up on, plus I can afford to buy Stubbs now that I'm not an early adopter.

The new avatar stays, though.

notice that the premium version has the ESRB ratings logo. This means that there is videogames content included. Speculate away!

I wonder how MS will split up the skus?

I say 80/20 in favor of the premium package.

Demos? Backwards compatbility needs to be rated? MS said content would be preloaded on the hdd.

Seriously goodcow. I'm a Nintendo fan but it's flat out truth that the 360's controller is fucking perfect.

Even the weight of the batteries causes a near perfect balance in your hands. Also, it rumbles, which really does separate it from the previous king - Wavebird.

What a boring design.

I love the original Xbox's look much more than this (even though the only person who'll agree with me is the guy who designed it.) There was just something about the fact that it was huge and could kill a baby.
