The only reason I said what I said is because the way this image looks as if there is no one else around except the one kid, alone, helpless, and he scooted after the shot. That's the way everything was portrayed. I do admit that this image did do a lot on the greater whole of everything, and even if there was nothing he could do for the long term, if you were going to single out this one child, capture his visage and his pain and struggle, at least help him. Who knows, maybe he snapped a bunch of photo's of kids like this and this is the most famous one, but from the information I am given, I couldn't see why he wouldn't help this one last kid until he passed or possibly made it and bolted.

I dunno, maybe he did sit there and contemplate helping and figured it wouldn't be worth it, but he could have done something to make that one last little kids life a little easier at least at the end. It might have made his conscious a little less heavy as well.

EDIT:// And I did just do a little research, and I found out he did stick around for a while, and chased off the vulture. So he did help. I dunno, I just wish the most from people even when I don't know what I would do.

Graphic image

Barely recognisable, it's a raccoon dog after being skinned alive. There's video footage of this available on the internet which shows it laying on top of a pile of others who met the same fate, still alive, after being tossed aside like a piece of rubbish -- the people responsible have no further use of it.

I'd recommend the following video to anyone who wishes to see how animals are treated in the name of business, all to satisfy our wants: Earthlings. Be advised that it is truly disturbing. I found it extremely difficult to sit through, stopping it many times. I persevered, however, deducing that I owed it to the animals of the world to witness what our kind does to these creatures.

Edit: Okay, it's not embedded anymore.

WTF at naafa SERIOUSLY WTF

Well no shit Sherlock, whoever said it was easy wasn't telling the truth

So true, so true. I mean I can sympathise with those that have thyroid problems, taking medication that makes them larger, or any legitimate medical reason for being fat/obeese. However, that line about losing weight being hard is just flat out lame. Hospitals should probably have more gown sizes (check out some of the issues on their website), medical professionals (doctors, nurses, paramedics in general, etc) should not have any real issue with touching/dealing with fat people either; as fat people are people and go under that oath they took. However, the website seems moreso to want the world to adapt to them ... and I dont know about you, but I've not heard of any epidemic as far as thyroid problems, new medications that are making more fat people day by day and so forth.

The website also mentions discrimination as far as employment. Now this one's a grey issue. If they're fat and healthy or, failing that, fat because of problems outside of their control (and not closing their mouths or loving food a lot doesn't count) then they shouldn't be discriminated against. However, from an employers POV, I can see the logic in not nessesarily wanting to hire a fat person. A fat person is more likely to need time off due to things like getting sick, back problems, etc. That costs companies in productivity, health care if they have a plan in place with the employee, and so on. I think a more reasonable solution would be to have more companies adopt a physical in such cases. Not to say profiling (and such a system would have to be quite careful in not turning into a horrible slippery slope that winds everyone in a situation akin to Gattaca), but just to seperate the "fat because we lack disipline and have other various mental barriers that cause us to over eat" from the people that are larger for legitimate reasons. It's the ones that are there for reasons outside of their control that should be given precident. As for the rest, well they have a choice to make. Bitch and moan, or do some hard self examination, and understand why they are where they are and either do ... or dont something about it.

Ok rant over.

(Oh, and people judging the photographer of the dying child might want to do a little additional reading. Particularly the account on Wiki given about the situation outside of the lens' field of view)

Isn't the photographer of the Sudan Famine kid with the bird the basis for the main character in House of Leaves?

After my little bit of research, I can tell you yes, that is indeed the basis for the character.

More importantly, fat people are ugly, which means less people walking into your store. Bad business. That's why really high class restaurants don't have a lot of fat waitresses.

Sir Penguin!

Makes me weep for apparent rampant stupidity in Scandinavian nations, not all of humanity.

He was knighted in Great Britain, or do you call all Scandinavians stupid simply because he's a mascot for the Norwegian King's Guard?

A cute penguin mascot is rampant stupidity? How about pulling that stick out of your ass and get a sense of humor.

The Scandinavian nations have among the highest standards of living, highest literacy rates, the longest longevity . . . I think you're jealous since they are proof that their ideas have worked.

* ICP fan gets pregnant; doesn't realize it for the first six months of pregnancy.
* During those first six months, she continues drinking and using drugs.
* Not surprisingly, there are complications with the birth. Minutes after the child is born, she dies.
* Mom begins blaming the hospital for her child's death; she claims that they "murdered" the child.
* Parents feel that jeans and ICP hoodies are appropriate attire for their child's funeral.
* Shortly after burying her child, mom appears on the radio. She interrupts discussion about her child to complain about how the radio station hasn't been sending her ICP merchandise.

Out of sheer interest, what do they rally for and how do they do it?

they rally for people to stop doing what they disapprove of by inciting the most liberal/open-minded group of people you can easily find (college students).

and the way they do it is by yelling at people and holding those huge signs up.

Occasionally they'll come by with huge pictures of aborted babies at different stages.

So they basically dont want any of the following:

abortion
sex out of marriage
homosexuality
etc
etc
etc

and they try to pick fights with everyone. and there's always some stupid a-hole nerdy politician type idiot that will try to start a debate with them, but to no avail since they keep yelling the same shit and saying "you're too young to understand anything, go burn in hell"

they tell people to burn in hell a lot, too.

I thought it was space junk but satellites makes more sense.
Yes, these are satellites. But just a fraction. Debris is also flying up there, but if that would be marked there, we wouldn't see the planet from all the dots.

Edit: Oh wait, I mixed it up. That IS space debris. My bad :S

To make up for my mistake, here are actual satellites.

When I saw that picture and realized not only are the parents wearing ICP shit but they have their fucking KID'S coffin decked out like ICP I literally, out loud, said "Jesus Christ" in front of my devout Christian mother-in-law.

Please please please let people like this stop breeding.

I'm taking a wild guess but I think he probably put the child out of it's misery before it died naturally. It was probably too far/late to get the child any help and that vulture looks hungry. The right thing to do would be to quickly kill the child. Maybe he realised this but then couldn't cope with what he'd had to do?

I suppose in all fairness, the Penguin warrants an feudalistic honorific as much as anyone else does.
