Sony, the Japanese electronics giant, has made an important breakthrough in its efforts to combat large-scale piracy of its PlayStation games console in China after a long investigation uncovered parts being assembled in a prison.

The probe, conducted over five years, has unearthed a network of at least 10 sub-contractors with a production capacity of 50,000 units a day for PlayStation consoles and controllers, as well as “modifying” chips.

In one instance, investigators followed a container loaded at one of the sub-contracting factories into a prison in Shenzhen, where it stayed for a number of days, long enough for it to be re-assembled by inmates.

How in the world (obviously I now know where) do you make a pirated Playstation? I'm assuming it's a PS2 at that.

^ yeah i'd say they weren't actual PS2 compatible.

They wouldn't be able to get a hold of the necessary chips to make it.

Well if they did, it certainly wouldn't be worth it.
