Limbo and Inside being pulled from GoG next week. Likely Steam and consoles too.

Playdead's puzzle platformer Limbo came out in 2010, and Inside followed in 2016, so the odds are pretty good that if you have any particular interest in playing them, you already have. But if you've simply been waiting 15 years for the right moment to strike, I'm here to tell you that the clock is ticking—at least if you want to buy them on GOG—because both games will be removed from the storefront on July 17.

A reason for the takedown hasn't been provided at this point, but there's speculation in the replies to the announcement that it's fallout from the legal dispute between Playdead and co-founder Dino Patti, who left the studio after the release of Inside in 2016. Earlier this year, Playdead threatened legal action against Patti for his alleged "unauthorized use of Playdead's trademarks and copyrighted works," and according to an80 Level report the studio followed through on that threat in June.

Very strange. These games are fantastic. Especially Inside.

Yeah, this can definitely be one of the casualties of fallouts like this. Oh well. I bought these both on GOG years ago, though I never played Inside and played Limbo something like 15 years ago. Sounds about right.

But the heads up is always good - I don't think there's another place to get these games DRM-free at this point.

I'm guessing the legal dispute is heating up:

Great games, excellent dev. Didn't actually follow the legal issues, but that's a shame. They should have another game out by now.

Inside is so fantastic.

Legal disputes always feel like they have this ending:

Inside and Limbo bundle is on sale on Xbox for $2.69
Or you can buy them individually for $0.99 for Limbo or $1.99 for Inside.

PlayDead fallout is crazy, they make two award winning games before there's a split and one of the founders leaves. It's now been 9 years since Inside and we heard nothing about PlayDead's next game (a game that will be exclusive to Epic Store because Epic is bankrolling it). Now there's a massive lawsuit going on between the two founders as well. Kinda reminds you of what happened to Disco Elysium studio. It just proves that some of the best art is made in a tense and challenging environment.

Do we know if you'll still be able to download them if you already own them? I bought both on the eShop a while ago, but haven't downloaded them to my Switch 2.

I've always thought Limbo was an extremely overrated game that came out at a time where indie game development was having a golden moment. I never saw it much more than a game where you walk until you get killed by a trap that you can't see coming, respawn, and then try and remember what killed you the last time. Repeat.

Inside was really good though. I'd recommend picking that one up if you haven't played it.

You'll still have access if you already purchased, it's just new sales will be prevented until they put it back on the store or release a new version of it.

Question,,,I bought limbo years ago(console),,,never downloaded it though on my hard drive.. if this game gets delisted/pulled before I downloaded it,is it gone to me forever, even though I bought it?….. ok,I see up above a similar question was asked and answered,,,,,good to know

Play Inside.....

probably one of my favourite short games ever. I actually just did a Limbo playthrough last week. Still holds up but Inside is better in my opinion. Especially blind.

Both absolutely incredible, and their next game has been topping my most anticipated list since forever. Last update we got was like 2020? I hope they're ok out there

One of the best indie games ever made. I think dark indie games like inside are my favourite type of indie games. Playing these games on the deck is the absolute best way to play these imo. It's too bad things went south with this studio.

Yay for the digital future.

INSIDE has been my go to game whenever I wants someone completely inexperienced to get introduced to gaming. So far 3 people tried and loved it.
