PixelJunk Eden out now on Steam

I won't be picking it up because, frankly, I'm fucking sick of the game. But the visuals should look great at super high resolutions. What's the max this version can reach?

I'm not sure if there is an upper limit as we don't have any artificial limit imposed as far as I know. I was running it during testing at 2560x1440 with no problem at all.

You might think you are sick of it, but our changes might cure you... you never know, and if you didn't play Encore those stages are introduced after garden 5 or 6 too.

Yeah, must look smooth as hell for those with monitors to support it.

And after piecing together garden maps using the PS3 editions' video recorder, I've seen enough of the original to last a lifetime. I have a special kind of hatred for Garden 10. But you're right, I haven't played the Encore levels.

Controls feel muuuuuuuuch better than what I remember playing PJE on PS3. lmb to swing, rmb to jump, move mouse in direction to affect movement. Very fluid.

ARGH! For a moment there I thought it was released already, immediately logged into steam only to be disappointed lol. Then I saw the key giveaway. Congrats!

Hey Dylan, if you guys want some extra bucks you should also consider releasing the soundtrack on Steam. Lots of games have done it and considering how awesome it is i'm sure I'd do great. I know I'd buy it

Have I good news for you! hehehehe
read the OP. The OST will be available as DLC. ;)

I hope the wider player base will lead to more maps being created. I never finished Gardens 13 and 14 (I think) because 1 or 2 seeds would still be left. Searching or replaying those stages for around an hour to find all seeds is extremely frustrating.

Well this version will turn you around! It's so slick and fun now with none of the more awkward quirks the PS3 version had... and we re-mastered all the music at a much high quality and bit-rates.
This also begs the question... why not put the updated controls as an option on PSN version as well? I know that even though I'll get this on Steam, I won't play it nearly as much or as often on my laptop as I would on PS3.

It's probably not worth it financially. That's just my guess though.

Unfortunately the process to patch stuff on PSN is a lot more complex. We would have to re-compile and run Eden using the very latest developer SDK and that is quite a large task .. then it has to undergo testing and persuading Sony to do that after 4 years is pretty tricky.

Besides, the controls are tuned for mouse/keyboard now, in fact it plays so well it feels like it was made originally for the mouse in the first place.

Wait, is there gamepad support? Like increasing numbers of gamers, my PC gaming is primarily on an HTPC and I only buy games that support gamepads.

Steam achievements?
Steam cloud?

both - and we re-tuned all the achievements/trophies.

If you'll remember PixelJunk Eden was the first ever PSN title to have trophies so we had no idea as to how difficult they should be and made them all quite challenging! (as in extremely challenging)

So we went back to them, tuned them to be more achievable and added a bunch more.

I'm sorry but no gamepad support because as you'll see it just works too well with the mouse. Its no longer an "aim and jump" game, and more of a click and jump and a lot more fluid and fun as a result. Sorry if that puts you off but it would be great if you made an exception for this one, you won't regret it.

Nice, a big thank you from Sweden for that. :) The more effort I can feel that you have put in to this game to really fit PC and Steam, the more likely I am to buy it, despite already having too many games.

Steam say they will put one up for us to promote the 20% discount so fingers crossed lots of people notice!

Ifrit - what has begun? :-)

I might have to get this on release then.
I would double dip on Shooter if you include both in one package and triple dip on Monsters if you guys ever bring it to PC with the psp content.

No mouse on my HTPC but I did buy the PS3 version when it came out so that will have to do.

No controller support?

:(

Was gonna buy for the better checkpointing but if I can't even play it on my tv with a controller.....Will wait and see if it gets patched in

Enjoyed the game but hated how progression worked to the point I stopped playing it. Why do I have to collect the same... spectra, was it?... repeatedly? Felt like padding to me, since if you can get to some place once there was very little reason you couldn't get there again (and it maxed out your time bar when you collected it, removing whatever tension might be there).

That said, might still double dip on Steam at the right price even if I prefer the other PJ titles (aside from Racer).

Dylan tweeted earlier that Steam told him it would be up at 10am PST.

I don't know what that converts to in Valve Time.

Bought game + soundtrack. The controls feel much better than the PS3 version.
One negative is that the game is locked to 60 fps which is annoying for people with 120hz monitors. It would be great if you could patch the game and increase it to 120, unless the physics are locked to 60 fps and increasing the fps to 120 would make the game twice as fast.

Here's a few screens I took

Heheh yes.. remember this was a console game, there are many things that are a little "fixed" and would require an incredible amount of work to change.

I hope everyone's enjoying it as much as I do!!
