Having played in the beta for a month and a half or so, I would say it's being rushed out to release. I don't know why they didn't want to do their original idea of "when it's done/late December."
In my opinion, the weapons are too expensive, but if you buy your Station cash (SOE currency) on double or triple cash days you get a good value. Despite my issues with the game, there's a lot of great potential here, and no other game has the D-Day, storming the beaches of Normandy style moments like Planetside 2. To those who want to be surrounded by hundreds of people, running through explosions, you'll find that often at the Crown (central base) on Indar, FYI.
That said, my FPS was down to the mid-30's at the Crown when beta was ending and things were going crazy, running everything high except shadows, on a i5 3750k, Geforce 670 GTX, and 16 gigs of ram. On my previous computer (yes, I upgraded my computer for this game), which had a Intel Core 2 Q6600, Radeon 4850 and 4 gigs of ram my frame rate would probably have been in single digits on low settings, so you'll need a better rig than that to hang in the huge battles. Remember, in this game CPU power is more important than GPU.
