Damn fun game, I have played two 7 day trials now (just use different e-mails, but remember you have to register a new Station account also), now I've decided its worth my money. :)

One of the new features to the game, the Battleframe Robotics. Here it is being transported by the Lodestar to one of the fronts.

ps2.jpg

A fps shot with the HUD enabled, a corridor fight in one of the bases. My team is defending from an overwhelming attack by the red team (Terran Republic).

ps3.jpg

A battle for one of the gun towers, as you can see the fighting is very tough.

ps4.jpg

Units moving over a bridge, good thing the enemy had retreated otherwise the bridge can become a zone of instant death.

ps5.jpg

The game can be very beautiful sometimes, the worlds are large full of vegetation.

ps6.jpg

A shot from the “underworld” from the Core Expansion. I prefer fighting topside, but fighting underground is necessary if you wish to acquire the BFR (mech) and some of the special weapons (the Core Expansion is not available in the 7 day trial).

Ah yes, I loved Planetside. I played it quite a bit back around release and had an absolute blast. The level ceiling was kinda low (though not a huge deal in this kind of game) and there was no ultimate goal, but the actual day to day sieges were absolutely awesome and loaded with variety.

If I wasn't so busy, I'd probably consider playing again...

I remember myself and Tain tried it once, it was interesting, and I think a brilliant concept, had it not been for the RPG esk improvement. If it were purely based on skill, this could have been a great thing. But since my skills or stats whatever were lower, it was near impossible to really get into. Literally being blown up by a tank every 3 seconds outside the bases on almost every island you go to, wasn't fun by any standard.

Shit, I can't find my conga line pictures. Once you've seen that, you can stop paying for the game.

Though I do have this picture of the little known NC Lightsaber.

Is it me, or is this behavior just WoW provoked. I''ve noticed more than 1 has done something similar

That's just not true. Planetside was all about skill. As in your own personal skill at playing the game. The RPG elements only affected what weapons you could use, and even then you could re-spec your weapon skills once every 24 hours so you were never locked into your choice. Every weapon or vehicle was available to you almost immediately. Higher levels meant that you could have several different weapon loadouts or vehicle certs available at once, but it meant jack squat when it came to deciding who would win a firefight.

In short, you don't know crap about Planetside.

Not bad for a debut post, but I'm not sure you'll be able to maintain that level of aggressive condescension in your future GAF work.

this game was really fun during open beta.. when all my friends were playing it and causing mayhem on the beta server.. but once retail came around, it just wasnt a deep enough experience to justify paying monthly for.. probably because in the end, your battles--while epic-- are mostly meaningless... so what if you capture a base for a few hours? in the grand scheme of things, maybe such is the nature of futuristic war, but it makes for a shallow gaming experience.
