Man, I fucked up. Kept refreshing the product page at midnight, assuming it would update. After a few minutes, checked the front page to find that they have a separate page for the Black Friday deal. By then I was too late.

Is Amazon also supposed to offer this? Do we know when?
 
Picked up a 55" Samsung JU7500. Looking forward to replacing my current TV. Not terribly sold on curved screens, but my living room isn't very wide anyways.

Any thoughts on reasonably inexpensive audio to go with it?

It's a fine TV, input lag is low under 30ms, I don't know if the extra colors will be beneficial to you but that's it.

Unfortunately you can't compare the actual C series with the B or A in certain aspects, the input lag seems to be a bit higher in general with the latest C models.

Are you forced in someway to buy one of those? To be honest, I wouldn't buy either of them.

Why not simply wait and spend just a little extra cash, Vizio is a good budget choice.
 
hm... how about the Vizio M49-C1 49? Its 100$ more than the other two I mentioned above. I wonder if upscaled ps3 & ps4 would look ok on a 4k tv?

If you're fine with a IPS panel (great viewing angle, good colors, bad blacks), the 49" is a option. Input lag is very low.

How much more would you have to pay for the 50" version which uses a VA panel?

I'm in Canada and because our dollar is really down these days the deals we get here aren't that great. The 49'' just went on sale for 699 here and the 50'' is 999. The max I can spend on a TV right now is 700$ (which is more than what I initially wanted to spend).

The fact that I'll only be gaming on the TV and watching movies, poor blacks shouldn't be that huge problem given that my current monitor also has an IPS panel.

Like the 2014 version, the 2015 Vizio E is a pretty good TV, and especially good for the price. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles you get from some competing brands, but the picture quality is good. It's a great option both for those looking for a general use TV and those who want a good budget gaming TV.

The decision is up to you, but considering the budget and location you'll be happy with it.

I just got the 48" version (model E48-C2) a couple days ago but I'll update this post later with a proper review once I'm more familiar with it, but here are some initial observations:

PROS:
- Picture/video quality is pretty good.
- Great minimalist design and small bezels.
- Sound is actually pretty good, not tinny at all. Also has audio outputs (optical/RCA) to hook it up to an external sound system... surprisingly some tvs don't have this.
- Documentation states "USB thumb drive must be formatted as FAT32" and "not designed to play media
from external hard drives" but I able to play videos from an NTFS-formatted 2.5" 1TB external drive (USB3.0, no external power) without any issue and everything loaded up quickly.
- Plays MP4, WMV, FLV (and probably other) video files from USB. It doesn't recognize the MKV file extension but I was surprised to discover you can still play MKV files just by renaming the files (change extension from .mkv to .mp4)
- 3 HDMI ports (note: this is for the 48" version -- I believe 40" and under have 2 ports except the smallest which only has 1. 43" and up have 3 ports except the largest which has 4. Either way, do your research if this number is important.)

CONS:
- The remote control is garbage. It needs to be pointed directly at the bottom left corner of the tv in order to work. Pointing it at the tv doesn't work, it has to be directly at the bottom left corner. Pretty frustrating. I suggest using another remote, or, even better, getting an external smart tv box. (EDIT: Seems to have resolved on its own after 4 or 5 days without me changing anything but I still recommend getting something better.)
- The feet are spaced really far apart on this TV for some reason (38" x 10") so you'll need a very large surface to put it on, and due to the shape of the feet, I suspect the TV will fall off the surface it's on if a single foot gets bumped off the edge. They should have left the stand in the middle like they did in previous years. (Obviously isn't an issue if you're wall mounting it... I bought an inexpensive Cheetah APTMM2B wall mount kit from Amazon.)
- Screen is reflective so I wouldn't suggest using it opposite a bright window.

Still giving it a 5*. Great value for a 48" TV, very happy with my purchase so far.

I've basically posted this ad nauseum in the thread, but the current LG OLEDs have input lag that's too high for the type of games I play - shooters. I had the EF9500 for a period of time, and while it plays fine for most games, the second you try playing a shooter and move the reticle you notice how mushy the movements are. The image quality on the OLED is unreal, and I'm still hoping that the input lag gets improved via an update so I can rebuy it, but for right now it's sadly not something I'd recommend an anyone who likes games enough to join GAF.

AND - what's odd is that you chose the curved version. The other TVs are flat. This comes down to personal choice and your living conditions. If you're one person then the curve is awesome. I was incredibly skeptical, but after getting a curved tv and trying it for a bit I found that for games I actually prefer it. BUT - if you have to watch or view anything off axis then it's a nightmare. I HATE how much the image gets skewed.

If you have the cash and want the curve, I'd toss in Samsung's JS9500 as an option. That's what I'm currently using, and am pretty happy with it. The blacks are pretty decent when viewing content. You have to deal with obscenely horrendous bloom in menus, but it's not something I've ever noticed in game/movies/tv. And the input lag is super low (for a TV) in the low 20s.

Buying a TV is definitely a hard choice. Good luck!

Perhaps I'm just not sensitive to it, but I didn't have too much trouble getting Onyx in Halo 5 FFA with the input lag as it is. :)
 
I need a 40" Full HD max 500 euros [mostly for PS4].
I was aiming Sony KDL-40W705C, but someone suggested me Panasonic CS630 and someone else Sammy and LG alternatives.

Any advice?

The Panasonic ain't bad, great picture and the input lag is not great but ok with 38ms:

The Sony 705c has probably the lower input lag.
If you want a Samsung take a look at the UE40J6250.
There is no LG I would recommend.

I would go with the Sony 705c.

Just ordered an OLED - EG9100. Really, really hope it doesn't have tinting, and that is has minimal vignetting. And I'm curious to see if 40ms input lag is too much for me, or not.

Either way, I have 60 days to return it, so I'm excited!

The 6400 has half the input lag of the 6200, so it might be worth the consideration.

interesting, although input lag has never been something I've been able to perceive all that well. i've never even put my current TV in game mode, for example.

the 6200 upscaling problem seems pretty weird. though it probably doesn't matter too much for gaming if the console itself is set to 1080p, right?

Congrats, I guess it's a flat tv not a curved one? The EU JS8500 is flat and has a input lag of about 20ms in game mode. Pretty nice TV :-)
 
How do people feel about wall mounts in apartments? I'm worried about the potential of it falling off the wall. Is that possible if I have it professionally installed?

Extremely unlikely, but the real issue is that you'd better make sure you have permission to start putting holes the size of lagbolts in the drywall and drilling into studs. For that matter, you'd better make sure there even are studs in the wall in question.

I bought the Sony X900C and really don't want to buy a TV stand for it. It would be much cheaper for me to just install it on the wall... I guess I could talk to the property management, not sure if they would know about the stud in the wall though.

You can tell on your own. Rap on the wall in a horizontal line, and if there are studs there will be places where the sound is hollow and echoey and places where it sounds more solid. These latter places should be exactly sixteen inches apart. Alternately, you could pick up a cheap electronic stud finder at Home Depot if you don't trust your judgment on the sounds.

The only times people have TVs fall off the wall is when they do it themselves and don't anchor the wall mount to one or more studs.
 
Unless it's my settings (but these are great for gaming) Netflix shows and movies sometimes seem very crisp but at the same time i can see some grain, film grain i guess? Is this normal?

Oh and shows/movies seem to judder slightly, to combat this i was told to use tru-motion, but not any of the presets but a custom one. What should i set Dejudder and Deblur to?

High five. I have the LG 65EF9500. Absolutely gorgeous. I can't wait until Sony gets in on the consumer tv OLED market (it's inevitable), I will get another. It's hard for me to look at another tv that's not an OLED. The Sony 940C would be the only exception if I needed a larger than 65" tv.

Find and anchor into two studs people or else your TV will crash and burn.
 
So I think I'm finally going to pull the trigger on a Vizio M55 tomorrow morning.

My only reservation with this TV is the alleged subpar motion handling, which rtings.com specifically notes as a reason in advising against this TV for gaming.

But then I went back to some of the earlier pages in this thread and post after post showed users praising this television all the while never once mentioning motion affecting their experience.

Although the Vizio E series is supposedly better at handling motion, it seems that the M series is still more popular, most likely due to 4K support.

The only other TV I was seriously thinking about was the Sony XBR55X810C but, again, with the M series continually coming back up, I'm not clear why I would want to spend an extra $200 for the Sony. (I am still budgeting $175 for mounting and installation labor, the actual mount, a wire cover, and cable management. Yes, I could probably do this myself but I'd rather not learn on my walls).

What free 4K content, if any, is available on the M series or 4K TVs in general? My understanding is that the YouTube app on the M series does not support 4K content. Do any demo reels come preloaded? Are these able to be downloaded? What about 4K footage of cities around the world? I would suspect these sorts of things could be located on the web and then transferred via a USB drive?
 
Yeah, there's a whole bunch of free short 4K demo reels out there on the web that can be downloaded onto USB.

You could probably also download some of those 4K youtube videos to bypass needing to use the app if it doesn't support it so far.

The easiest places for content at the moment until those 4K blu-rays hit are obviously Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Youtube if your TV's apps and built in OS have been updated to support them.
