PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS Early Access Thread: This Is Battle Royale

Quick question. How does armor damage work?

Lets say I pick up a level 2 Vest. 250 protection or whatever.

Then I take some fire and the vest now shows half red. 130 protection.

Does that mean that the damage reduction is at half? Or does that mean the durability of the vest is at half but it will still do the same damage reduction as it did when it was full durability?

damage reduction is the full amount until the armor breaks. There is a bug where incoming shots will sometimes ignore your armor. Hence me being 1shot in the head in solo with a level 3 helmet.

I'm pretty sure that includes known issues that were in previous builds as well. Stuff like tyres flickering, sliding down stairs, and having no BP, clothes or items are things already present on the normal version right now.

I just wish they would take their time on releasing patches. Two days is NOT a long enough time to fully test a patch. What other game has had test servers for that short of time? I can't think of any.

There might have been a disconnect since I was getting network latg last night.

Discord was working in a game a night or so ago, I then sat idle a little longer, and then disconnected. Since then the server vanished from my client, I've never been able to add the server in the client, or and I'm not even able to bring the invite link up in a web browser without an error, almost as if there's some sort of IP range block.

Hm

If you're on later, I'll try manually adding you to teh server?

Public tests like this are usually just to check if the patch won't blow up the servers or people's PCs. Obviously it can catch other stuff as well, but I imagine they mostly use internal testing to catch bugs.
Are weapons/items placement randomly generated or are they at the same spot for each game?
Random.

random, but some areas have a higher chance of having better items. Basically, larger groupings of buildings have higher chances of better loot. You can always find a level 3 helmet in a random shack in the middle of a field, but the chances of it happening are low.

So lets push a buggy patch to make it more buggy. Lets not test our patch properly before we push this patch to hundreds of thousands of players.

Hundreds of thousands of players playing it is how they'll test. That's the whole point of early access. I bet they never imagined getting this big so soon.

which is exactly why they have test servers.

Which is mainly to test there aren't any horrendous bugs before rolling out. Games these days don't get bugs wiped out until 1.0, and even then, stuff gets missed. Really first thing they're gonna do is get all the features implemented, and then they'll do a big sweep.

I see a lot of streamers have found a way to turn off the character model in the inventory screen so their game doesn't hitch whenever they open their inventory after a while of not opening it.

What is the option to do this?

It's in the test server atm. Full release should have it.

First experience with the mini-14, shot some guy in one of those tiny circle attic windows with a red dot from about 100 yards out. I had a red dot, took a few shots maybe? He had a level 3 helmet.

Made it to top two, got killed due to bullshit. I was being shot at, but managed to make it behind a tree and was crouching, ready to heal. Then out of nowhere, the game caught up and registered my death :(

I've been getting this too but in CQ firefights. Lag spike just as they come into view and I'm dead in a corner. I must look like the world's easiest kill.

Killed by another guy jumping spastically in a crouch position. What is this garbage?

edit - To clarify I don't mean the crouch jump. I mean in a crouch position but moving up and down many times per second almost like the player model is having a seizure.

Haha, called it

Patch is breaking more than it fixes and the biggest bugs (building render) still present.

Man. No way this game makes it out of Early Access by the end of this year. Or if it does, it will officially be one of the buggiest full releases on the market.
Hot take #6487. Those bugs listed in that thread aren't related just to the new patch, they are existing bugs as well to outline what the devs know needs to be fixed. And really this game is far from the biggest game both in early access and fully released. Hell just look at games like Assassin's Creed: Unity before you go making that hot take again.
