PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS Early Access Thread: This Is Battle Royale

Is cheating seriously widespread? It was my impression that there wasn't much of it really.

The game is currently so laggy and janky (as to be expected of an EA title) that anybody complaining about cheating is just as likely to be experiencing some weird connection issues.

For example:

The cheating is starting to ruin this game for me. Was just top 10, snuck up behind a dude, nailed him with 2 double barrel blasts from ten feet away. He didn't die, but i was able to get behind cover of a jeep. He spun and oneshotted me through the vehicle with an awm.
User puts this down to a cheater. It's just as likely some lag happened and the other dude killed him with several AWM shots before he even fired his shotgun.

Ohh, and something hilarious. I got one shotted by a ak while my vehicle was flipping through the air and i had lvl3 helmet yesterday. #justbgcheaterthings
User puts this down to a cheater. It's just as likely that some lag happened and he was sat perfectly still in his jeep while someone unloaded on him with an AK.

Won a hilarious game where my 4 man squad ended upt being the only squad within the white circle and all remaining players had to go through us (coming from the same direction) to get to it. That was a massacre.

to cheaters: I haven't had to deal with cheaters in 30 + hours. Stuff gets wierd with hit detection when servers lag though.

Played over 100 hours now, I have never encountered a cheater in that time. They do exist since I have seen streamers encounter them, however they are nowhere near widespread.

Lol, there are so many false reports of cheating in this game its insane.

There are enough connection and server issues that I bet many people think YOU are the cheater when you kill them.

Not sure why you want the game to get toxic?

This could be countered by 1. Allowing you to turn it off 2. Allowing you to filter between all chat and group chat. These are basic options that most games allow, I think it would be fine.

Solo players, any of you guys willing to share recommended drop points for noobs? I've been working off of the church/outpost outside of Pochinki, but I'm not sure if there is a spot that would be better to leverage into more mid game success since I'm still new. I don't mind if the area is contested since I need to work on my shooting mechanics.

Any spot with 4-5 or more two story buildings can get you started. The more important thing is the route of the plane and the first circle. If I can get a place like Novo to myself with a long jump or a jump and a car ride I'll take it every time.

Looting in peace vs. getting interrupted with a fight makes all the difference.

Another thing you can do is just loot enough items so you can kill a player and then plant yourself on a route out of a common looting area. Easier to loot a corpse than 5 buildings.

My default tactic is to drop early along a major road, find a vehicle (they only spawn in a few seconds after your parachute opens (at the height it forces you to open it)) then drive to a town reasonably far away from the flight path of the plane. Easy looting in relative peace that way, and you have a vehicle ready for if the circle fucks you over.

Pretty fucking lousy. One guy left, I unload an extended vector clip into the guy, he turns around and I die in one burst from an M16.

Wow, just got teamkilled by someone in a duo match for absolutely no reason at all. Was following him around for a few minutes and then he just decides to attack me. Playing with randoms on this is really difficult when there are so many uncooperative or just bad players.

First game after finally buying it last night. Drop into a cluster of buildings: two one story and one two story. The two story building is absolutely stocked so I load up and wait. People loot the buildings on either side of the two story I'm in but don't come in to where I'm at (even though I closed the doors and left some stuff on the ground downstairs so it didn't look picked over).

Ended up making it to #9 without killing anyone. Not saying anything doesn't already know ITT but this game is an incredible experience.

I honestly couldn't imagine playing with complete randoms. Communication is so important.

Honestly, I'd recommend picking out a spot before hand, and then observe those dropping out of the plane at the same time and see what they're doing and course correct. You should be able to land somewhere with structures without needing to fight someone to the death immediately.

Anytime the plane is coming in from the south over the Military Base, I like to pop my chute a little earlier and glide over Primorsk and loot there. Lots of really good shit, and usually a couple of boats and some sort of vehicle spawn as well. Most people are jumping out at the Military Base and nobody usually is spending the time to fly over. You can load up heavy there and then make your way back to the battleground in plenty of time almost always.

Lately my tactic has been long jumping to a town as far as possible away from flight path and then looting the town all to myself. The only thing to watch out for is if someone brings a car there.

But yeah I've been looting and then when circle starts to get close I grab a car and move to the center of the circle and chill. I don't usually like just moving to the edge because then I'm always running and people can take pot shots at me.

Is there any sort of logic for where the initial circle will be?

Cause I had one match where I dropped out the moment I could from the plane and I was in the circle and then another time the circle was far smaller already and far to the south. Luckily I found a buggie but is there a good way of predicting it?

Join the discord for some yummy chicken dinners, great runs with SamuraiX and aSliceofSam.

Great shooting, man! Was another amazing weekend with the PUBG GAF Discord. Chicken is officially the most appetizing meal known to man.

I'm still a noob but I'm trying to hit quiet spots. I'll watch the plane trajectory and figure a point that looks quiet, being ready to head off at a tangent from the flight path to get some distance.

Even if you're way out of the first circle you usually have time to get back into it.

Is there any tips for the initial drop in?

I just jump out thon plane and press down to do as quick as possible but some people seem to fly down even quicker.

Is there a more efficient parachute method as well other than just push forward to drop quicker?

I'd say pick a landing zone far away from the plane pay. Ideally, I pick a direction with a lot of good loot spots, deploy my parachute early, see where others are landing below me, and go somewhere that nobody else went.

got my first solo chicken dinner, only took me 10 games so not too bad. killed 5.
at the end we were three and one guy started to fire and walk away from me so i knew they would kill themselves and i only had to end it.

but damn i was nervous lol.

Man, I have been playing this game so much it pushed me to order an extra stick of RAM to see if that helps my performance issues. Also, :( at seeing everybody get chicken dinners while I have been playing for 36 hours and got nada so far.

Wish I took a video of this...bushes are such crazy hiding spots

There were only 3 of us left and I was hiding in a bush. Probably there for a good minute.
Then I see a guy crawl out of the bush right next to me, neither of us knowing we were next to each other.
I took him out, but that exposed me and I got hit right after.

I decided to start a solo match while eating lunch and ended up winning because of some great circle luck and good loot spawns. I think I got 7 kills and got shot at maybe once the whole game.

Does anyone know if you can find the M24 just lying on the ground, or do you have to pick it up in crates?

I always end up with a cheek pad and quickdraw extended mag for it, but can never seem to find one except in drops or on the bodies of people who looted drops.

m24, awm, tommy gun and m249 are all crate only

Just got the game yesterday, I was reallllly curious.

After maybe 10-12 rounds, I'm getting the hang of where to drop, and how to play it safe but not be boring etc.

Just had my best round yet, I placed 2nd! Almost had the fucker too.

This game is AWESOME, can't wait to get some duos/squads in with my boys.

Got the game yesterday, it is Great.

Also, for those who don't know (I didn't) - if you pick Squads, it matchmakes you with 3 other people if you're not grouped. This works really well.

Is Vector also crate only? I've played quite a bit and still haven't seen one on the ground.

Nar, they're out and about. Far less common than other SMGs though.

I find the M416, Vector, Kar and SKS to be pretty rare.

'Course, literally anything that isn't a pump shotgun or pistol has been rare for me lately ; _ ;

I literally walked into a fucking crate last night just sitting around in the middle of a field, grabbed the bloody AWM for the first time ever, popped a pair of fools having a little fun across the corn fields, and then I lost track of time and got zoned.

Fuccccccck

Always aim centre mass with the SKS. I usually go for headshots (I somehow managed TWO with some shitty assault rifle while I was lagging like shit yesterday - I felt a little bad) but the SKS demands a bit more surgical maneuvering.

Why the hell are they dropping two crates at every drop now? It just ends up with a bunch of people having long range weapons and ending up in sniping fights, which while fun, are boring when it's the only kind of fighting that happens.

aka shoot one bullet and then jesus takes the wheel

Son of a bitch, this made me LMAO at work.

They need to replace the in-game item description with this.

I can't comprehend how some people actually land shots let alone kill people with this pogo stick of a gun.

This guy had the total jump on me to only have me 180 spin and double tap headshot kill.

HE HAD TO BE MAD!

and also call me a cheater :)

just jumping in the middle of this thread after hearing about the game, and I had one main question (probably covered a bunch before and if so maybe someone can point me in the right direction):

what stops players from simply just waiting until the end to participate? seems like one of the most frustrating things that can happen in a game like this. I understand play space shrinking and stuff, but still

Nothing is stopping you from waiting but unless you're extremely lucky you're going to have to move to the safe circle - either by car or on foot, and cars are noisy and if you're bound to run into people while moving.

It's usually smart to avoid the fights at the very beginning by parachuting somewhere relatively remote.

Nothing, perfectly viable tactic in fairness.

of course, just bland and particularly frustrating to myself (more of a quake/unreal, run and gun gamer vs camping)

thanks for the replies duders! I'll have to give it a shot sometime, as this type of game mode has always interested me
