Playing FF7 for the first time....

What? :lol
I mean the cards you get you can convert them to items, there is an ability like that in the game, I remember getting Hero Drink and Elixirs and Mega-Elixirs by converting cards into those item that's what I meant with my post and also some of the materials you need to make ultimate weapons are only possible by converting cards.

No they aren't. EVERY junk item can be won and/or stolen from a character or enemy in the game, except for:

Force Armlet (bought in Esthar after acquiring the Familiar skill)
Pulse Ammo (must be converted from Energy Crystals)

And if you NEEDED to use the convert ability to get through the game (as in, you couldn't survive without the 100x hero drinks with Laguna's card), you REALLY sucked at FFVIII.

Master the junction system. It's all you need to get through the game, and you can even beat Ultimate Weapon and even Omega Weapon without using Hero Drinks! ZOMG.

You're the one saying playing Triple Triad was mandatory to get through the game and that you had to play it to get the characters' best weapons.

nop, but the things you get playing triple triad almost made it mandatory
:P I'm well aware on the fact that you can complete the game without ever touching Triple Triad.

and what I mean by getting the materials for the weapons by converting cards is that it's much easier that way than waiting for a monster to drop the materials IMO. my mistake was saying that could only get those materials by converting cards I'm sorry.

my last contribution to this thread... FFVIII soundtrack is fucking incredible:) better than FFVII OST

I remember buying the Limited Edition OST for VIII and was severely disappointed when I learned that that attack on the beach music from the demo wasn't there. Forget the name, anyway, yeah, all of VIII's soundtracks rocked hard. The game wasn't bad either. Play X and get back to me about a Final Fantasy game sucked. Fools!

The Landing

I would like the FF series to get rid of that turn based and infuriating random battle shit. I have no problems with turned based strategy games, but in RPG's its annoying to no end.

Well FFXII was headed that way anyway, it's a total overhaul over pass FF games.

Track 8 on disc 1 of the OST; 'The Landing'.

And some people do legitimately dislike FF7. Not all do it for attention, and the absolute dismissal by fans of those that don't like the game do not make anything better, callous.

You sure? i'll play through it, sounds like it, but i thought there was one that wasn't on the OST. Anyway, thanks.

And at first I dismissed FFVII despite being a huge fan of the series. Why? Because it was the minute an RPG went mainstream. Not to offend anyone, but it took away that special feel and people who couldn't think got into RPGs. I had the whole Aeris thing spoiled to me by a total non-rpg player. A lot of kids just played it because of the commercial, but whatever. I'm a bit jaded, yeah. So it tried a few things with existentialism and budhism that seemed to reach a little too far. I'll restate, it was the first RPG for a lot of idiots that would otherwise shun the game. I think I'm the only one that feels that way, though. heh. Jaded, sorry. I did eventually love the game, just not so much as VI.
