According to the company, from the release of Ghost of Yotei on October 2, 2025, the suggested retail price for physical and digital games will be BRL399.90 (US$70)

Official note from Sony

"Due to adverse currency conditions in Brazil, the recommended retail price for Sony Interactive Entertainment 1st party games (on disc and digital) will increase to R$399.90 from the launch of Ghost of Yotei on October 2, 2025."

Context of the Adjustment

This is PlayStation's first official statement following the repercussions caused by the appearance of pre-orders with higher prices on the Brazilian PlayStation Store. The change confirms that titles released for US$ 70 abroad will now be converted directly to BRL399.90 in the domestic market.

Considering they've already started taking pre-orders, I don't think they'll change Yotei's price for the US. But future releases are probably going to be higher globally as well I reckon.

Oof. Any other regions that got any price adjustments confirmed?

Edit: Bigger oof because if Sony goes for $80 in a few months, then the readjusted price will be R$449.99, which is borderline prohibitive to the average Brazilian. No wonder if piracy goes rampant (even more) in Latin America with those prices. PS2 and Xbox 360 were the kings of piracy where 9 out 10 people would pirate all their games.

These big AAA publishers are down right crims, with some of the quality of games releasing a lot of people will no longer buy on release anymore.
Next they will be crying no one bought there games on release, just look a Clair Obscur expedition 33 it shows that a lot of these AAA games have no idea.

Feel for you Brazilians :messenger_heart:

I imagine third party devs will follow accordingly. I just hope they make bigger discounts during sales (of course they won't)

Also lol

Sony already bumped prices to $80US in Australia ($125).

No nice things to anyone, huh?

Games found new ways to generate profit but we all keep getting the short end of the stick. I have only a few games I'm interested in the near future, otherwise I'll be revisiting my backlog on Steam and PS.

Fun fact: Sony raised the Plus prices sometime ago, and increasing the price of an online service instead of the products don't make much sense
