Sony is seeking a director to help it make acquisitions and investments in other companies in the games industry.

The Director of Corporate Development listing, based in Sony’s California office, says the successful applicant will be mainly involved in identifying potential future acquisition and investment targets.

“Sony Interactive Entertainment (PlayStation) seeks a highly qualified Director, Corporate Development. SIE’s Corporate Development Team works closely with SIE’s management team and is responsible for identifying inorganic growth opportunities through acquisitions, investments or joint ventures,” the ad reads.

“The team sources, evaluates and completes transactions that are aligned with SIE’s strategic priorities and drive significant long-term value for the company.

I believe this won't age well.
The whole "restructure" thing and the 300M value in particular, add that up to the deals on FFXVI, Forspoken and other games being PS first.

What about the "big news Greg said will blow people away"? Acquisitions take time and probably this move will make it easier to avoid the AB+MS acquisition problems.

Yup, one thing to take away from these acquisitions. is that they are unpredictable, and we can all say they'll never happen. if you were to tell me after Ted price's comments about remaining independent years ago, that it would never happen. I'd agree, but now? huh I'm like all bets are off anyone is potentially up for grabs.

It's been aging just fine for years and I've been saying it for years.

People keep saying these big Japanese publishers are going to be purchased and every time it's another big western publisher.

Surprised? no but this is coming from Ted prices lips. for years sony had been trying to buy insomniac games. only to be turned down, in light of everything I'm not going to say that they are impossible to acquire. much more surprising things have happened before. like faithless said, your comment isn't going to age well in the long run.

Always cracks me up when nerds are really passionate about something but have no idea about how the business side of things work or about what “normies” actually care about.

Feel free to bump it when one of those big 3 Japanese publishers are purchased. Until then, I'll keep bring right and you guys will keep saying they're about to be purchased any day now.

Do people not realise all large companies have a team of M&A specialists working for them? Even if they don't then they will get one of the large consultancies to help them out.

Been saying for a while now, this gen will be the gen of exclusives. Some like Sony and Nintendo are doing their share, MS will buy their share. Problem is, since AB and Bethesda deals, Sony will have to make some moves to preserve their exclusives.
