I'm sure in your line of work you've been pleasantly surprised by announcements of things but have you heard of any possible reveals next week that made you want to jump out of your chair and dance like Calvin and Hobbes?

This event might be the most secretive Sony's been able to keep something in years in terms of content.

A Persona 5 announcement for PS4... now that would be something.

Street Fighter Alpha 4 too. Capcom's been pretty buddy buddy with Sony lately.

The only 3rd parties that would wow me at the PS Meeting would be R*, SE and Kojima Productions. Hoping to see one of them on the 20th.

Man, I don't think there has been a videogame related unveiling/announcement of this magnitude in over a decade. The hype is reaching palpable levels.

I do not expect Sony to dissapoint with this one.

EDIT: I expect to see Dark Souls II and......something else.

;)

With all this hype, we're bound to be disappointed in the end. This is what I keep telling myself so I won't be disappointed. :)

Oh GOD, i'm praying nobody tries to schedule something last minute.
Money or PS4 announcement? Hard decision :(

Thank you ! I appropriate that.

hahahaha :p

WOW THAT is one misleading headline.

He just said its not up to him but up to Sony to tell us more information and that is it.
Later in the thread a former Big Big gaffer said it's coming to PS4 since the last time it was restarted, while ago. He also leaked previously other stuff in a conservative way and is a gaffer since 2007 so I assume he wouldn't risk a ban saying such thing if not sure.
Which would explain why they didn't show the game during 3 years, and would make it sense even to have it ready for PS4 launch and Feb 20th announcement.

Yeah PSLS ran an article on this saying they got the invitation from Sony with this venue

This is one grand and HUGE venue..sony is going all out

"The Hammerstein combines a magnificent, century-old former opera house with fully-integrated 21st century media and entertainment production technology. Recently restored, this elegant room features a hand-painted ceiling, ornate woodwork, and three balconies with side boxes.

Soaring 75 feet above the main floor, the ceiling holds numerous rigging points suitable for production lighting, sound, or set design. Integration with the in-house audio recording studios, television studios, video control rooms, and post-production suites makes the space an incredible venue for productions, special events, live or taped broadcasts, and webcasts or radio broadcasts.

Production possibilities in this highly flexible event space are virtually limitless. Events hosted in The Hammerstein range from international product launches and television awards programs to designer fashion shows and holiday parties."

I really don't like the idea of Killzone 4 as the main launch title. I mean we've already had so many systems launch with an FPS (PS3, xbox, xbox360). I was hoping for something totally new. PS1 launched with Ridge Racer and a bunch of top notch arcade ports and PS2 had SSX. Historically the main PS launch title is a game from a genre that is in its heyday (ridge racer = arcade racers, SSX = extreme sports, Resistance = era of the console FPS). Are non-COD, non-Halo FPS's even popular anymore?

I fully expect something from Square, be it a game or tech demo.

Battlefield 4 is almost certainly going to show if third party developers are showcasing their games. Sony may even bag some exclusive content, as they are pretty close with EA these days.

Going forward, I feel Battlefield will favour Playstation and Call of Duty Xbox. Similar situation to this gen, just more so, as the two games and platforms are competing and may take sides.

Probably because with the current set-up, anyone who leaks substantial information would be discovered relatively quickly and sacked. Anything you're getting now is all controlled leaks.

Even the controller leaks? Any idea if that share button removal rumor is fake?

There was a rumor they were only going to show four games, but after rewatching the 2005 conference, that just can't be right. I imagine we will get a montage of a bunch of crap.

I was referring to the PS Meeting event. But yes, even in the case of certain hardware and controller leaks, it's all to build a certain level of expectation. They can't be as controlled though due to the amount of involvement. You can't hide a dinosaur exactly, but this event isn't hard to manage. Certain Sony developers tweeting hints, others chiming in about projects, and so forth, is to all build expectation. Ueda suddenly breaking silence isn't exactly an accident for example.

My totally uneducated guess that I'm really not basing off anything except how Sony has done launches in the past is that there really won't be one main launch title per se for the PS4, but several exclusive (between 3 and half a dozen most likely), different launch titles.

Woah, TLG trailer next week? I hope it's true.

2005 E3 was 18 months before release this time the turnaround is much quicker between annoucement and launch so games will be much more showable i feel.
