VITA HACKED!

HOMEBREW ON THE WAY!

I don't like super crate box :| i unlocked all the weapons and now i don't have the will to play it anymore

I recommend aqua kitty, a very well made and funny game, and rebel too.

Wario64 kind of ruined the game for the rest of us, heh.

In case there are any devs walking around here, the PSM SDK got a new update (from 0.99.11 to 0.99.20 ... strictly speaking, they should have been smarter this time and make it 1.00.00, since PSM is out now ;) ):

http://community.eu.playstation.com...le-SDK-0-99-20-is-now-available/td-p/17175754

The non-beta version of the SDK hasn't been launched yet.

Another great aspect of PlayStation Mobile is how it offers a more streamlined development environment for game creators. The PlayStation Mobile Developer Program includes the official version of PlayStation Mobile SDK and will become available to the development community in November.

This will be rolled-out in a phased manner starting with 11 countries and regions, including Japan, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. We’ll update you on the programme nearer launch.

I thought $100 is only if you want to publish app on psm store. anyway, if the homebrew actually get around Sony cert by distributing their code instead and not their compiled file, I'd be totally okay with paying $100 a year just to have some emulator on my vita.

The front page for the SDK implies that you won't be able to run code on the actual devices without a subscription, after it's out of beta.

You can test and debug games and applications developed with the PSM SDK on the PlayStation®Vita system and PlayStation™Certified devices.

*After the Open Beta period, you will be required to sign a separate contract.

I think someone kind of missed the point

Complaining about having to use PSN and that there are no legacy games, lol.

Just over a dozen games = 20 in what world? Also why the fuck would you want to play PSone games with a virtual controller, mobile gamers are the worst. Probably just mad that he can't download these games for free on his rooted phone.

Rebel is a paid game that uses the oh-so-common model of progression though upgrades bought with in-app currency, which drops so infrequently that you're forced to either grind through hours of low-level gameplay or shell out real money to advance.

Pretty sure there are no IAP for Rebel.

So he didn't even play one of the two games he downloaded? Lol.

Looks like he had already decided he hated it before he even tried it.

Looks like they deleted both of my comments too, LOL. Okay.

If PSM would/could get iOS developers on board who would otherwise not develop on Android, then it will be a great success in my book. I'm also really hoping (but doubting) that we get the big mobile developers that are on Android and iOS like Gameloft and Popcap. That would be important to its success IMO.

Already worked for Super Crate Box. There was no Android version before now (but there is an iOS version).

They could get EA/Popcap and Gameloft. EA and Gameloft supported Minis ... somewhat.

I agree. For a while, I've been wondering if Sony could use anti-piracy measures as an incentive to lure developers towards bringing games to PlayStation Mobile who normally wouldn't touch "open" Android. It's good to hear at least one developer confirm that here.

I agree with this, too.

One of the biggest obstacles is that there are few (if any) North American developers and publishers on board with PSM (that we know of). Almost all of the announced PSM developers are from outside this continent. They certainly need to pull in support from the big developers like PopCap, but they also need to attract other North American developers.

Much like Minis in the past, I don't think SCEA evangelizes PSM (to either developers or consumers) to the extent that other SCE branches do. If I'm wrong about this, and they have been evangelizing them, then their efforts are fruitless, as their success rate (measured by the released games) has been quite low.

One other thing that SCE overall needs to do is to work quickly to declare more mobile devices as "PlayStation Certified". If they can do that, then I have a feeling more developers would be willing to jump on board.

Yup, looks that way. Kassatu said the other day that SCEA hadn't even sent out any review codes. They were all from SCEE.

This was true 2 days before launch, anyway

So probably a stupid question but imma ask it anyway....is there any chance of PSM being supported by Droid Razer Maxx or Galaxy S3?

Also do titles purchased on your Vita activate on any of your other devices without having to be purchased again?

Who knows? Maybe at some point if PSM does well. I'm sure Sony will continue trying to get manufacturers on board.

And yes, PSM purchases work on up to 3 compatible devices.

Not officially. Google won't support any alternative stores, and Samsung thinks they're too big to add a Sony store on their device.

In a perfect world Sony would support devices without official partnerships being necessary, like Amazon.

Beats Trellis has made PlayStation Mobile worth it. I've spent more time on this little app than I probably should have... where has my day gone? So good.

Tell me about it. I lack musical talent and I just decided to throw some stuff together and it has worked remarkably well for me.

can your record some of your result with beat trellis and post it on youtube, just like to hear the result, also, Is there really no way to export or share the music?

Loot the Land is really nice...but It feels kind of shallow compared to Dungeon Raid. The levels are always over with very little effort, I'm up to about the 20th level and it just starts to get repetitive.

Just to hear the result you could just use a cord to hook your Vita up to any external speakers you have.

Other than that you'd probably have to record with some kind of software on your computer I imagine.

this should give devs a bit more confidence when porting over to psm

Five bucks got me Aqua Kitty, Beats Trellis, and Fuel Tiracas. Aqua Kitty is a great game. Beats Trellis is more limited than I expected it to be but it's still pretty cool. Fuel Tiracas was fun until I realized how broken it is. There needs to be a penalty for misses so players can't spam taps for shorter times.

Exact same games I got. Great minds.
