PlayStation Mobile Thread of Indie Games, and Apps on Android/Vita

Just got PSMobile. Anything really stellar?

The best game of the bunch imo is aqua kitty, but i don't know what you exactly mean with "really stellar".
Another funny game is rebel.

Imo the first waves of psmobile games will have some good games but nothing special, with time very good game will come.

I'm just about to join you. Will grab a few (based on not much at all) and post opinions. I'd be happy just with some time-killers tbh.

EDIT: Right, have lined up Beats Trellis, Super Crate Box, Aqua Kitty, Beats Slider and Everybody's Arcade. Tooootally random selection but I'm sat in a hotel room with nothing to do for a while.

The hungry giraffe game looks very slick, anybody have that?

There is a game on Jpn market where the whole game is "learn how to massage a girl's legs" (not even kidding), full motion video and everything??

Games look interesting but for the high price some are asking they really need trophies/leaderboards...this is just catching up to XBLIG on Xbox in current form...

If you are playing on a phone or tab you have to do everything with virtual controller. Which I hate.
Yeah, something I keep in the back of my mind since I can play on my vita and Nexus 7 (which is fantastic).

The twist thingy game is a bit disappointing. Basically a rip off of kuru kuru kururuin, but badly done so very little challenge. Main character needs to be longer. Plus it's touch only and it'd work better with buttons IMO.

What are the minimum standards for these games? Are you allowed to require physical controls, or only as a backup to touch/tilt?

I think because its supposed to run on tablets and phones without buttons there are no physical button requirements.

You can't require them because they have to run on phones and tablets. You can have they take the place of a virtual controller.

Might be a tough question to answer but what percentage of the resources (CPU and memory) is used to run PSM software? Is it > or < 50%? I was wondering if more intensive Android/iOS games would be technically infeasible due to these resource limits?

I believe it's restricted to around 90Mb and shader support is not that great. For the more demanding iOS apps (like Gameloft and EA stuff) they'll probably want to do a native Vita game instead.

The SDK to develop games is still in beta. We’re rolling out the SDK for everyone to have access to develop games soon. However, there are more titles on deck that are prepping for release. We’ll be looking for the best ways to let you guys know when those hit.

On trophies and leaderboards implementation:

"It's coming," Thomson said. "I couldn't tell you what the timeline is on that, but those kinds of features are definitely in our purview. We are hearing the feedback, and we take everything from what the gamers are saying and what the developers are saying to heart.

"Trust me, it's a priority for us," Thomson said.

On it coming to PS3:

"We don't have that kind of cross-functionality yet for the PS3, but we'll see," Thomson said. "Stay tuned. That's all I can say."

EDIT:

Also, this guy hates playstation mobile. He brings up some good points (paypal API integration, overpriced games, $5 minimum on wallet) and some not so good points IMO (no games that couldn't be done on google play even though developers are wary of piracy, signing up for psn).

I tweeted the EU PS blog the other day and they said PSMobile games will be getting weekly wednesday releases starting from next wednesday.

Is there really a 90MB limit to PSMobile games? would seem to hamstring the service a fair bit in comparison to the likes of the app store? Best to just not have a limit at all surely?

90mb? Chopin is already at 500mb+

Approximately 90MB of dedicated RAM for each PSM application. ;-)

I have $1.24 left on my PSN wallet. Anything decent I can get for that?

Samurai Beatdown is also only 99 cents, and the devs seem interested in updating the game with new content, for free. It appears it's just an introductary price too, so best to get in now, if interested!

what other games are must buys or ones to look forward to come tues/wed?

I have Rebel, Hungry Giraffe, and Super Crate Box. Rebel is quite fun, but I think the analog stick isn't sensitive enough...the Dpad doens't work perfectly either for this game :(

It's frustrating when you die when you know you should have been able to move away from the bombs if the controls were more responsive.

Aqua kitty imo is the best game.

3000. ..... is there anyone else even close to his score?

Can anyone get more then 100?

He is a robot gamer.

The thing about Super Crate Box is the difficulty is always at the same level (it doesn't get any harder the longer you survive, once all the weapons have been unlocked), so once you master the mechanics of how to use the different weapons correctly, going on a long run isn't terribly difficult - it's really just a matter of keeping your concentration up and taking pauses so you don't get worn out. It's a pretty simple game to master, especially if you stick to playing the first board.
