PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | October 2014

The PS+ threads are always so hard to read. I know people want different things, but Spelunky, Rainbow Moon and DriveClub are "throwaway" games now? What are these people playing and how high is the amazing quality?

Dust is probably one of my favorite Metroidvania games out there.

Everybody download Spelunky when it is available next week. It is excellent!

Weird, can't find Rogue Legacy or Lone Survivor on the (German) store at the moment. Maybe they're updating them? Although I don't see why they would mess with those games, they should be available for their sale price till Oct 8.

Are you on the Vita store ? Try the online SEN store.

Eh, I'm not saying these are "throwaway" games by any means, but I already bought Spelunky and Arkham Asylum and don't have a PS4. Rainbow Moon sounds enticing, but there's not much else there for me.

Edit: I'm a little underwhelmed because I have high hopes for PS+, whether that's rationale or not, I hope that it'll fill out a little more of my video game wish list for me. Some months it does that, some months it doesn't. This month is one of the latter for me.

It is hard for Sony to make a list which pleases everybody. It is the common problem of waiting for a game to go on plus or buying a game which you know will go on plus day 1. I always try to buy the game day 1 to support the Dev but it can be a little annoying when the same game goes on plus a few months later.

Dust is the only PS+ game i want but i don't have a PS4 :\

Happy for Soldner on Vita though.

Have you played Spelunky?

Is the EU list the same as US?

If having high hope means giving games you haven't bought, maybe you should think about stop buying game altogether so all of the IGC will meet your expectation.

What a shitty month.

Having to wait one week more for these games?

Edit: Probably just because Driveclub is this month... then im asking myself if its worth it to release a fucking demo for PS+.

DriveClub is not a part of PS+ offers.

That makes me feel a little better about it. How's the story though?

Terrible. Americanized old school jrpg schlock with bad writing. But the combat system is really cool, I enjoy the game. Combat is sort of disgaea like without all the extra craziness -- spells and special moves have grid based ranges and such, like a cone based fire spell, or a special jumping attack move that requires the space two behind you to be clear, but then attacks 5 squares in front of you.

All random fights are optional, leveling up is fun, there's some limited crafting (every weapon/equipment can get some ingredients crafted on for bonuses).

Honestly, it's a great little srpg time waster on vita. It's easy to pick up and play or come back to after a month away.

The "already bought this so PS+ is bad" argument is really bad IMO. You clearly thought the item was of value, and it's pretty crazy to expect all items from the IGC are completely new, and it's far, far more crazy for you to expect them to tailor to your purchases specifically.

Decent + line up, I'm pleased. With the games I need to beat, plus the ones I am getting this month (Smash & SK), plus my "never ending" games, I am more than pleased. I can't wait to try out DriveClub, might end up getting it depending on how much PGR is in there. I've heard this comparison for DC & Forza Horizon 2, but sice I don't have a Bone, DC it is!! Can't argue with that solid Plus version, either. Soldner on the Vita is really the icing on the cake, with Minecraft (hopefully..!) being the sprinkles on said icing.

Deeeelicious

Amazing. I need to get my Vita screens up before the themes ruin all the "hard" work I spent organizing!
Bought some stuff that is on sale. Really tempted to get Futuridium, as well.
Haven't seen much on this, but from what I hear it's like Starfox. Which is awesome. Then it makes me think it's a spiritual sequel to a GBA game that came out near the systems launhc, Iridium 3d. Pretty great game, considering the time & tech available.
Super excited for Dust. Played a bit on Steam but never got that far.
Can't believe I forgot to mention Dust! This game looks fantastic, I can't wait to play it. It was made by a fellow Gaffer, iirc. So hell yea, go them!

Wait, the "Spend $100, Get $15 Back" promo is only valid from today to the 28th? Why wasn't it announced yesterday when the Store updated? I spent $50 yesterday!

Well played, however I think we all win with new firmware + themes.

Such a gentleman, haha.

edit: people, about the spend $100 get $15, do you only get $15, or for every $100 you'll get $15? The site with the promo rules doesn't open here thansk to auto-redirection.

I was thinking exactly this. Aren't they screwing up a lot of people by starting the promo the day right after a store update?

I didn't buy anything yesterday, but I'd be pissed if I did.

Man, I already own Spelunky and I am absolutely thrilled that it is coming to PS+. I bought it and loved it and I cannot wait for everyone else to experience it since it is absolutely fantastic. Anyone pissed that a game they bought is now on PS+ really needs to reel in their expectations.

Please god people get hooked on Spelunky, I need more friends on the daily challenge leaderboards!

Bought Futuridium because I'm old enough to remember reading Andrew Braybrook's development diaries in Zzap! 64.

Any idea why Peggle 2 is listed as released today but not available?

Edit: Probably just because Driveclub is this month... then im asking myself if its worth it to release a fucking demo for PS+.

No, you have to wait an extra week because it wasn't October yet yesterday, not because of Driveclub. Also stop acting spoiled, Driveclub being a demo or not (it is not) doesn't change the fact that you are still getting 2 other PS4 games. It is not instead of the other PS+ games, it is in addition to. There is no magical world where if driveclub wasn't on PS+ this month your PS4 offerings would have been "better", they just would have been less.

Pix looks interesting. Any reason to play Dust on PS4 over PC? I have it but have barely touched it on PC. I won't play with those compressed character portraits the game defaults to for some awful reason--I assume PS4 version uses uncompressed instead?

Main reason to play anything on PS4 over PC! Trophies! Sadly, this is the major reason why I will be playing on PS4 not PC hah. Maybe if steam would've ever given me a steamcards booster pack in the past 6 months I'd care more about it...

Who the FUCK thought pricing Natural Doctrine like that was a good idea?!

FIFTY FUCKING QUID on PS4?!

Plus no cross buy. I had the same reaction though to Dragon's Crown's original pricing. Like $40 for Vita version, $50 for PS3 version no cross buy (can't remember exact values), just way too much. Especially considering when I eventually got it it was $20 per version (and later free on PS+). If a game is $50 and available on Vita and PS3/PS4 I really need it to be cross buy to justify my purchase at release.

Pretty hyped to see what kind of themes are available tomorrow

I wonder if themes will have special permission to bypass the terrible background image compression.

AND the game is very mediocre too to be honest. I said it yesterday but I played but an hour or so yesterday night, I'm a huge fan of strategy games and whatnot, but man I just ended up putting it back in the case and shelving it. Either know really well what you are getting into, or just wait for a sale to get this one. I'm glad that I got P4AU with it, both its campaign and Destiny (specially now that RNGesus has been patched) are going to keep me busy. Shinovi in 2 weeks and Freedom Wars at the end of the month, hurray it's October! :D

Like.. you're releasing a super niche, digital only (?) game and you charge that amount for it? That's utter insanity

Wait, will DriveClub PS+ edition will be free (for PS+ users) *tonight* when the store updates? Or only when the game is fully available (whenever it releases).

I was *just* thinking about this. I think I remember reading that when it is released at retail, that is when we get the Plus version.

Is there a release date for Costume Quest 2 for PS4? I can't seem to find one, looks like October 7th for Steam but no info for consoles.

Absolutely, and I would love to support the devs with most games, but I don't have the finances for that. So I get hopeful that they'll show up in another service that I pay for.

If having high hope means giving games you haven't bought, maybe you should think about stop buying game altogether so all of the IGC will meet your expectation.

That's the thing, I don't buy very many games. I don't have the money for it. That's why PS+ is such a great deal, and it's why I get excited every month. It's a gamble, one that pays off more than it doesn't. This month? It hasn't (until I get a PS4, c'mon Christmas!). So yes, I'm a little underwhelmed, for myself.

I am, however, pretty excited for everybody that gets a chance at Spelunky and Arkham.

Man, despite the haters I am really excited about PS+ this month. Never in a million years would I have paid for Driveclub until a sale (I am just not a big fan of racers), but I will gladly take this PS+ version. Call it a demo, call it whatever, I don't care it is a good amount of content for nothing more than I was paying anyway. Really excited for Dust: AET, own it on PC but would much rather play it on PS4, and hopefully it will have a good remote play setup. Spelunky I am so excited for, as I said hopefully more people enjoy it and my leaderboards get more populated (I will destroy you all).

PS3 games are whatever, but both totally worth checking out. Definitely looking forward to trying Pix and Rainbow Moon, glad I didn't get Rainbow Moon on sale recently! It looked fun for a while for sure.
