PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

Nah, there's currently a sale on 3 month subs in EU territories, which I'd imagine the AU store also falls into.

Can someone link me to when the EU plus sale ends? I really don't want to miss it. A year of EU plus for $10 cheaper then the US service (and when it's usually $63). I'm in.

I'm playing right now too. I made 2:45 min for clean driving. I have done the 33,33% of the game in like 6 hours, so it doesn't look too long. If anyone wants to add me in the psn, be my guest.

I'm new to the PS3 and PS+ (new to this console gen actually). What happens when the game gets taken off the PS+ available list? Can I still play it if it's still installed on the HDD? (i suppose that's why people are making backups?)

Yes as long as you're still a subscriber.

Yes, you can still play it (as long as you're a subscriber, of course). You can even delete it and download it again, as long as you're a subscriber, even if it's not part of the PS+ available list. In fact, if you let your subscription lapse and resubscribe later, all the stuff you used to have on PS+ will pop up on the top of your download list.

The reason why there's a lot of talk about backups related to PS+ is because people tend to run out of room downloading all the free and cheap games, so they want to upgrade hard drives. First step is to back up the old hard drive... :)

But if you don't at least start the download for a PS+ free game and get it on your download list while it's available, you won't be able to claim it later. But once you do, you're set as long as you're a subscriber.

I see. Yeah I forgot to mention that I meant "while remaining subbed".

Got a 500gb console so I guess I have some space to spare hehe.

I have to say I really like this concept. Especially when compared to the Xbox Live bullshit.

I do see some weird stuff though : This games list shows Mortal Kombat being available while on my console it's Sleeping Dogs that popped up. Kind of bummed about that, I have SD on my computer and I really wanted to give the latest MK a try.

Mortal Kombat is available (unless you're in Germany or Australia I think, but it seems you're in France), but for some reason it doesn't show up on the IGC tab on the store. Have to find the game via search but it is free for PS+ subscribers.

We sure about the resubbing allows you to get back your previously free games? I grabbed the free month when they were offering it back when PSN was hacked but I have been unable to access the games I got for free back then such as Streets of Rage 2. I'll have to give it another look next time.

If you're in Europe, there was some oddness about that I'm not sure ever got straightened out. But the games I claimed for the Welcome Back free month (including Streets of Rage 2) popped back on the top of my download list when I got PS+ again six months later.

Works for me in NA. My sub has lapsed 3 times already and each time I can go back to playing all the games I claimed from PS+ once I renewed.

PS+ is actively expanding my gaming portfolio. Games I would never look at twice I'm getting in the Instant Game Collection just because they're free. I have had it since Christmas Day 2012 if I recall correctly and I already know I will be re-subbing once it runs out.

If I ever get a PSVita I already have most of the games I wanted for that system.

One question I have is that some games have an expiration date of a year on them, such as RE5. Will I not be able to play the games after that time?

The expiration date is the date your sub ends. As long as you have an active sub you'll be able to play them.

Just checking but are EU PSN getting any other free games this feb. or were the recent 2-3 from the last update the only ones?

How does this service make money for 3rd party publishers giving things away?

Its a fantastic service, but its hard to see how it makes a lot of money for anyone.

ALL OF MY NUMBERS ARE MADE UP AND JUST FOR EXAMPLE!!!!
sony takes in money for the subs...
they turn around and offer some of that money to third parties to put their games on plus for free. (either in a lump sum before putting it up or based on how many people download it... I haven't a clue which way they do it)

if there are 2 million ps+ users (I haven't a clue how many there are) subbed for a year at $50 (the normal sub price... the actual average would be lower) that is $100 million for sony to use to get games on PS+ (as well as fuel discounts).

if you were a third party and in the last 3 months your game had sold 1k copies at $40 each (fo 40,000) and was slowly trickling down to nothing, and sony came up to you and offered you 500,000-1,000,000 to put your game up for free on plus... would that not be a decent thing to jump on? even if you kept your previous rate up it would take around 3-6 more years to reach that amount of money at 40k every 3 months.

sony gets around 4-5 games a month for plus... taking 5 games a month over 12 months nets you 60 games. Even if sony offered 1 million for each game in this case that is only 60 mil of the 100 mil. The end result in this case would be a service that makes the subbers happy (in general), the third parties getting a payout for games that likely aren't selling well anymore, and sony being able to pocket 40 mil extra dollars

Solid. I have also noticed that while games go free, DLC gets a discount too so the 3rd parties make money that way.

If Sony are wise they'll include a free 3 month sub to PS+ in each PS4/Vita bought from here on out. Get people tied to the service.

I do worry if that's a problem.

Nah, no way it's a problem. I mean it pretty much secures a PSVita purchase from me in the future, whenever I can afford one. Once I have one I plan to pimp it out with PSONE Classics too.

Whereas if I didn't have this backlog of PSV games I'd be less inclined to get one.

I'm in Europe and had no problems resubbing and regaining access. In fact, the only issues I've encountered are certain PSone games losing their license for no good reason, but that was random & occurred before I forgot that my sub was about to lapse.

Its a fantastic service, but its hard to see how it makes a lot of money for anyone.

Selling DLC, promotional stunts, ... They know games nowadays are really front-heavy so by giving them away three-four months after release they are just fueling DLC sales and promoting their brand without losing a lot of income. Sony on the other hand just needs to make sure they break-even on the service, Plus is not for profit, it is for brand power.

Trying to subscribe to the EU Plus and it won't let me. Keeps saying that I am not eligable to purchase or download the content

I am on a month trial so wonder if this has something to do with it.

Have raised the issue with Sony who have no idea what is going on and will escalate the case

I suppose you are not European so your credit card will not be accepted. You will need to buy directly a code for subscription.

Aw I was hoping for some more free goodies. Oh well, thanks mate!

OK, so I've bought Motorstorm Apoc on launch and have it fully updated with it's update data in my PS3's HDD.
I am gonna trade my disc copy since I got the digital ver. via Plus. My question is: Will the update data already in my ps3 work with MS Apoc digital, or will I need to download it and all the free dlc I got over the past year or so again?

tried doing it both on SEN (web) and PSN (PS3)?

I finally got that PS Vita. Charging now. PS Plus 12 month/ Unit 13 bundle was to good to pass up.
I had a month left now I'm good until summer 2014 thanks to that 3 month promo. Mega-Win!

Only loss is Amazon sucked, took forever to get it. Retail is infinitely superior to online shopping.

I was checking PSN stores and it looks like Closure will be a free game this week:

...and a Ubisoft sale? RAYMAN 2 AND 3 DISCOUNT PLEASE!

What's up with that link you have?
Tries do redirect me to some site called kevinchang.me...

Haven't heard of the site before, but GameDealDaily.com have a year of PS+ and a blu-ray remote on sale for $39.95 with free shipping right now. Looks like it's probably a pretty crappy remote, but 15 months with the current promo for $40 is still good. The guys at cheepassgamer seem to think it's legit, so I'm taking a chance.

Thanks so much for the link. Bit into it and payed with Paypal so I have the security of that at the very least. I was gonna wait for the 20th and then decide to upgrade to full year but this deal is too good to pass up!

BTW its this guy's birthday, drop him a b-day tweet!

Hashtag Playstation4Life for fun lol.
