PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

Isn't Europe Sony's strongest territory with the PS3? Maybe that's why they're getting better content, I don't know.

Regardless, it seems like a lot of EU Plus content eventually makes it way to the US, like Outland and Trine 2. I'd imagine we might get stuff like Deus Ex and Dead Space later on.

These things are not decided centrally. It's not like there is an exec sat in a Tokyo office deciding how many games to give to Europe this month. The power is devolved to the regions and with PS+ the regions have decided to pursue different strategies.

I envisage the difference in titles available is all down to the negotiation skills of SCEA/SCEE.

It seems SCEE are better at negotiating with third parties for big games, or more willing to offer incentives...?

I just got a 3 month plus card. When is the best time to put it in? Should I do it right before something worthwhile expires? Do they do anything special during December/January?

Any idea when we'll know what the the next game will be? I'm thinking about buying Darksiders for my 360, but I don't want to if I'll be able to just get it free in a few weeks.

NA update will be posted on the blog on Monday.

So, clues for the two new EU games for next week. Ideas anyone?

Outland?

Fuck you, SCEA.

At this point it's pretty obvious to me they're dismantling the "Free Game Collection" thing and going back to the old days of Pre-E3 Plus without giving back the PS1 Classics and Minis. Awesome.

I'm not going to defend Sony too vociferously, since I want some newer retail games myself, but I don't see how rotating good games into the IGC is bad.

Frankly, the only meaningful distinction I'm going to draw between retail and digital, is that many older retail titles aren't available digitally. I've purchased fewer and fewer retail titles in the past couple of years, preferring to buy off the PS Store when I can. I don't feel any less fulfilled as a gamer because I have a big collection of titles on my hard drive, versus a big collection of titles on a shelf.

I played the Outland demo and wasn't ready to bite when it came out. Now it's coming to PS+ apparently, and I'm happy for the opportunity. Would I prefer to hear that Batman: Arkham Asylum was now on PS Store and available for free via PS+? Sure! But that doesn't mean Outland isn't reasonable.

Sorry, guys, but even with my recent disappointment in the PS+/Borderlands issue, I'm not willing to bag on a good game being swapped into the service.

Yes, EU PS+ seems to be ahead at this point, but I'm not disappointed with what I've gotten personally. I'm still getting new games, since the service is additive.

I'm with jvm. Both episodes of Walking Dead and Outland is a better month for PS+ than most months before the E3 revamp and there's still another game to be revealed. I even prefer 3 games like that than an old retail title I either already played or don't care about.

I'm glad some of you guys are happy. If they want me to renew my subscription, though, they'll have to step it up.

I'll be pretty annoyed if it's Just Cause 2, they had that on sale pretty recently, and I bought it then.
Already happened to U.S. folks. It was on sale for $15 with lots of DLC in May and then within two weeks was part of the IGC.

They (SCEA) have said they'll try to make sure this doesn't happen in the future, but not sure what SCEE's said about it.

I'm happy with the output of games.... from SCEE. but I don't live in PAL, I live in NTSC. I'm not going to pay the same as another region and get a lesser quality experience for the same money.

Wait, did I read that correctly? Can the freebie game for the month be Borderlands 1? If so, damn! I so wanted to play that and with 2 coming out, that would be perfect!

If this month brings Siren and Borderlands for US PS+, I'd be solid on it.

Loving The Walking Dead. Hopefully, they'll give the rest of the season free -- though I wouldn't mind paying for it since TT deserves the money.

The clues are for EU PS+

Started playing Dead Space 2 and trying to play Strangers Wrath but it's kinda boring at points... DS2 on the otherhand is awesome as hell.

PS+ is sogood.gif

WTF? Again? I swear, Deus Ex, Darksiders 1 and now the possibility of Borderlands and Siren? Wow! And then the US gets one or two PSN games?

How is that friggin' fair???

Is it confirmed you guys are getting PSN games? Because I know EU won't get an update until Gamescon presser.

Also, I guess finally paying more money means better content for Europe.

Didn't Siren come out before trophies? This is purely speculative but I doubt scee or scea would release a PSN game that lacked trophies.

I think the only thing semi-confirmed now is Outland. No word yet on actual PS3 games though.

Heh...I never complain much when it comes to these things, but that's on a whole different level. I mean, EU gets Dead Space 2 and what does the US get? The Walking Dead? Granted, I already played DS2 and loved TWD, but the discrepancy between games are a bit astounding.

Deus Ex, Darkisders 1? Now, it might be Borderlands and Siren? Fuuuck! I just wonder what the US will be getting. =)

Fair? FAIR? We've been screwed over for decades. Even now, our games cost more than they do in the US for absolutely no reason, doubly so for Aus/NZ. I mean hell, we even pay more for fucking PSN+. But god forbid the US miss out on one thing. Cry more.

If I can quote Reggie: "Not my problem". I have no problem voting with my wallet.

That is the reason why in the land of OZ I have a US PSN account and a US PS+ account. When people complain about high prices of games here I have give pause and realise that there are people who still buy games locally here. Between the US and the UK I'm lucky to buy games locally once or twice a year.

After all my years bragging about the better deals on PSN to my fellow AU gamers its all coming back to bite me at the moment! Hilarity.

Still I'm playing sound shapes now vs whenever in EU so I take the good with the bad.

I've seen some people complaining because Outland is poised to be the next PS+ freebie. They figure it's merely a "PSN downloadable game" and therefore it must be automatically inferior to anything that originated in a retail box.

It would be a shame if that assumption is preventing you from wanting to give Outland a try. I'd say it was one of the best games of 2011, downloadable or otherwise.

Personally, I wish they were giving away some other game instead, but that's only because I already bought Outland last year. Anyone who hasn't played it yet has missed out on a real gem. Hopefully you won't miss out on it now.

Thanks for the impressions. Outland is free on EU psn+ already so I got it from there, I'll give it a try.
