BioShock 2 eh? I might play through it, I was pretty hype for the first one when it came out. But aren't there supposed to be some other new games? Why does that image only show BioShock 2?

NA announced their games one a week for the first 3 weeks in a month, meaning the second ps3 game will be announced in 7 days and the third in 14 days

Thanks, I forgot about that. I wish they'd announce it all at once as with the European releases.

They used to, and then they ran into an issue like announcing a rayman origins discount that never happened, people threw a big fit instead of understanding that the end of each post said that the offers were subject to change, and since then they have been doing weekly finding it easier to deal with people being annoyed at the weekly posts instead of people raging over a deal changing.

there are talks they are thinking about starting up monthly posts again, but it seems like NA has issues locking in deals for sure a few weeks in advance for some reason.

Personally I don't mind either way. knowing for the whole month is nice and obviously it makes the value more apparent, but being able to show up every monday for a surprise is fun for me, especially during a lull of game announcements like this time of year.

Can't check at work, but I'm assuming Bioshock 2 doesn't come with the supposedly excellent Minerva's Den? Is it at least discounted for Plus?

Oh hey, another years old retail game that I could just pay $5 for and physically own forever on a disc that doesn't eat up my HDD space. If I liked FPS, that is. I'm not even going to bother putting this one on my download list.

So you expect them to give new third party retail games for free? You should really recalibrate your expectations, especially when the service is less than $5 a month.

I don't want retail games at all, actually. Retail games can be bought at stores, and often at heavily discounted prices, especially once they reach the age that they would usually pop up on PS+ at. And you can own them forever, physically, not to mention save bandwidth and HDD space. PSN games can only be bought on PSN, and rarely get permanent price drops. I would much rather have PSN games.

SCEA continues to disappoint

I agree. Give me discounts on PSN games or "free". I have not installed any of the retail games coming with the instant game collection. Either I own them already or my interest in them is zero.

Bioshock 2 is one of my favorite games this generation, you're in for a treat if you haven't played it yet.

Midway through the game you get a power that lets you throw an enemy at another enemy. Or drill your way across a room to kill a splicer. It's just so much fun.

Conversely, my interest in 95% of PSN games is zero. It seems they've hit on a formula of one retail and two PSN games every month. I'd be fine with that if the retail games weren't all shooters.

is payday any good?

I played it and had fun with it. It's certainly nothing groundbreaking but the whole concept is awesome. The levels are large and diversified, and there's a ton of ways you can tackle each mission. The graphics are pretty nice and 60FPS helps a lot. It's a hard game though, I had to retry many levels just because me or my AI team-mates died. Playing online was pretty fun but playing with 3 other friends must put this game on a whole nother level.

I played each stage a few times and was done with it.

Do you guys think will we get 1 game a week, 4 games overall this month? Also would like to have monthly updates, and just have discounts as a weekly surprise but I really hope SCEA have some good games to match SCEE's offering.

At least Bioshock 2 is good for me. Haven't even finished Bioshock 1 yet, but I think I'll dive into it again as Bioshock Infinite draws near.

I won't complain about this one even though I beat it already on 360, it is worth a second playthrough for Trophies on harder difficulty. SCEE wins again so far, but at this point I think this will be ongoing, I just don't want crap sports games, don't really want more fighting or racing games either.

They had a discount on the Borderlands DLC back in September. All of the DLC for $10.

Yep, that's why I was like it might get added as a late note

I mean give away BS2 free, at least slash all the DLC 50% or more

I know you could get the whole BS2 Bundle for $19.99 during a sale (Game + All DLC)
Multiple game bundles were sold in that sale

Bioshock 2 is actually a good game. I enjoyed it more than the first game. I've yet to play Minerva's Den though, so hopefully there's a sale.

If I had more time, I'd make a list of the all the retail third-party games on PS+ that had already been $5 on Steam before they appeared.

Warhammer Space Marine
Saints's Row 2
Borderlands
Just Cause 2
Bioshock 2

with Resident Evil 5 as the lone exception.

Therefore I have the following predictions for PS+
La Noire
Lego Star Wars
Sine Mora
Sonic Generations
Mass Effect 2
Painkiller Redemption
Homefront
Shift 2: Unleashed
Assassin's Creed Revelations
Dirt 3
Alice Madness Returns
Fear 3
Quake 4
Dead Island
Lord of the Rings War in the North

I'm not a huge fan of first-person shooters most of the times, I've heard mixed things about BioShock 2, and having not played the original, I have little interest in its sequel. I'd rather we get games that were stand-alone titles, or perhaps the first game in a series.

I'm sure a lot of people will be happy with this, but part of my frustration is that Europe has been getting a lot of games that I do want to play (Vanquish, Red Dead Redemption, Batman).

Well, if it makes you feel better, Bioshock 2 is pretty much stand-alone anyway. It doesn't follow on in any significant way beyond the setting.

nooooooo sony, I really want Vanquish :(
"You'll take your old, poorly rated, and dirt cheap game and like it. Merry Fucking Christmas" - SCEA

It's funny. We still have two more games coming, but everyone already figures they won't be worth a damn. Shit's gotta change.
