PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

Quick question. I don't follow the details on game announcements and such as much as I used to. I heard that the PS4 jsnt backwards compatible. Does this mean all my PSN and PS+ games won't play on it? If so, I'm about to let this thing expire.

Technical question:
If I move to another country, would PSN/PS+ still work or do they have an IP/region check?

I created my PSN ID in the UK back in 2006 when Sony allowed early reservations of ID names.

However, I didn't end up getting a PS3 till I returned to New Zealand so when I went to use my email to sign up it ended up being a UK account.

There are two downsides to this.

1. Your credit card won't work (if it's issued in a different country) and you'll have to purchase store credit via PSN cards online.
2. DLC purchased on your current PS+ account won't work on games that are a different format.

Also, Online Passes and LE/CE codes bundled with games won't work unless the game is the same format that your account was created in IE: PAL, NTSC or NTSC/J.

Thankfully for me all retail games in the country I reside receive their games from Europe so all codes work.

PS4 does not natively support BC, the long term idea/dream for Sony is to use Gaikai to have the whole PlayStation backlog available - note I said dream. In reality we will probably get something like today on PSN where the bigger titles get a 'drip fed' release.

It's uncertain if PS+ will allow you to play these games, the general thought seems to be there will be a sub for this feature or we will get PS+ as it is (with some added PS4 titles) and PSWorld where you get the Gaikai service.

The PS4 is not supposed to have backwards compatibility, no. However, if your plan is to buy a PS4 and let your PS+ expire you might want to hold off on that. Sony has already talked about PS+ being a major service on PS4 and they will almost definitely just incorporate it into the existing subscription model like they have with Vita.

IMO one should get the PS4 for playing PS4 games only atm. I can see Plus members getting some benefits on PS4 content, but until then...just enjoy the stuff it offers for the PS3.
imo sONY SHould increase the activation limit to 3 consoles so its like 2 PS3s and 1 PS4 or Vice versa

Increasing the activation limit would be a good start. What if someone has a PS4, PS3, Vita and PSP? All your activations are used up.

There used to be five. Thank game sharers for them doing this.

Bigger issue I have is you can't remote deactivate the consoles to where the next time they attempt to sign-in to PSN the consoles auto-deactivate all the content tied to that account. Makes no damn sense to have a DRM scheme and have to go through your broken console to remove it from your account.

There was tweet or news on ps blog about it. I hope this will rolled today and will stop those crying about EU gets better.

I think it will be rolled out today, but I don't think it will be better than the EU (as it has more subscribers paying more money), so don't expect the crying to go away.

Huh? But, you can remotely deactivate devices from the SEN website.

Correct. 1 account can be used on 2 consoles & 2 handhelds.

I do hope that the main reason for that being as it is is because a 'handheld account' on Vita still has all the perks of a PSP one, and so they'll conclude that since a 'console account' on PS4 will not have all the functionality of the PS3 one, they'll need to make it a separate activation category.

I own two PS3s - one at my place, one for when I visit my parents' - and I'd like to not have any account-based hassle when working on either!

They fixed that a while back. You can remote wipe all your game activations once every 6 months via the SEN site. The video activation is the only one one you cant wipe remotely.

Blog updated with more sales and the news that Vita owners get 4 free games (3 PSP, 1 PSOne) this week. From the text it doesn't seem like it's a Plus deal, so it seems all Vita owners are included.

I guess I'll have to buy Dokuro this time. I was blaming myself for not buying the game last time it was on sale. Won't make the same mistake again!

I wanted to jump on some of the Ultimate 360 Sale not let myself to do so because I have a feeling many of those games will be free here any time, like:

Dead Island
Fallout 3 / New Vegas
Assassin's Creed
Super Street Fighter IV
Tekken 6

etc

Yes it does, if you get the Vita ver. it will unlock for PS3 ver. as well.

Hate to break it to you, but SSF4:AE was a freebie a few months ago. If you missed out, you might want to consider the Xbox version.

Now, I'm thinking through the logistics of this, operating under the assumptions that:

This will not hit Europe
You can only 'buy' the games on a Vita.

I'm pondering whether this would work:

Change Vita account to US.
Purchase the games.
Change Vita account back to EU
Access download list on PS3; download games there.
Transfer games to one of my PSPs, now rejigged with my new US account.

I *think* I got an account-switcher widget for my PSPGo, so that'd do the trick for the latter.

At the very least I don't see why that wouldn't get them into your US download list, and it should be plain sailing from there.

Huh... what? Wild Arms is free for everyone, not just for Plus subscribers, and it is not an SRPG... unless you're talking about something else?

...THEY COULDN'T HAVE TOLD ME THIS 2 WEEKS AGO, I COULD'VE SAVED ME $6!
j/k, wonder if this is their way of getting us ready for the PS2 Wild Arms games...
