PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

How essential is 999 for VLR? I don't really want to play it and I don't have a DS.
JUST to enjoy VLR? Not very.

To FULLY enjoy it? VERY important. There's going to be an iOS version that's just the story that hits this fall in English as I recall (it will hit English eventually anyways), so if you have an iOS device wait until then and rip through that.

Won't be able to use the store to get my stuff til oh 9-8 hours from now, after I'm finished with gym haha.
Will grab VLR and prob. start asap~

After reading the hilarious backfire in the PS+ a Better Value than XBL Gold? thread, I decided to upgrade my avatar to show my appreciation of the Playstation Plus program. If anyone wants to do the same, here's a transparent .png of the plus logo:

Can I just watch some videos of 999 and get the story of it? I don't really want to play it, but I'm willing to watch enough of it to get it.

i read:

a wiki of the plot
a four part blog post about the characters, plot & the endings

i feel pretty good about going into VLR

I played 999, got a shitty ending and couldn't be bothered to play the game over and over again just to figure out what's going on.

Guess I'm gonna hit up some wikis about the plot myself before starting VLR.

I'm thinking of grabbing a Vita soon since it looks like it would be amazing with PS+ which I'm getting for my ps4\ps3. Does anyone know any good deals on the Vita? I can't find any =\

Can you wait till black friday? There were a bunch of great deals last year for Vita iirc.

Where do you go on the website to see your Plus expiry date?

Also, have any games appeared as Plus freebies more than once? Is it possible that games that I have missed will return as future freebies?

I don't think games have ever returned.

I'm not sure where to check on the online website but on PS3 you can go to download history and PS+ will be there along with the expiry date. Might be the say on the website.

Account management>Transaction Management>Services List>PlayStation Plus>PlayStation Plus [Subscription] - If you want to cancel auto renewal.

Oh man, all the people not playing 999, so sad! You can still enjoy VLR, but it won't be the same. Even if you YouTube/Wiki it, it won't be the same. It's meant to be played.

Have you looked on ebay or your local craigs list? I have seen many go for $100-125 used in great condition many with a 4-8GB memory card and call cables, some games as well.

Reading about 999 is not even close to playing it. 999 is the kind of story that can only be told through a videogame, as it relies in some of its mechanisms and clichés. Getting a bad ending is actually a central pillar of the plot, you understand it once you arrive to the True Ending. I haven't tried Virtue's Last Reward (not having a Vita and such), but if you have the chance, just play 999. Even with its flaws it is a very curious experience.

I'd recommend playing 999 before VLR not only for the story components, but because some of the design elements of 999 will seem very clunky after playing its sequel. Way too much annoying repetition to get the full story when compared to the way you can skip around in VLR.

VLR on Vita is great as long as you don't ever, ever, ever try to turn by dragging your finger or using the right-stick pointer. The amount of lag is simply staggering. Stick with single clicks and L/R to turn (and accept you'll never look up or down without frustration).

I'm only midway through VLR but if it's possible to play 999 first it's definitely a good idea, if only because it's fucking awesome.

I tried the demo and the controls were fucking awful. That was reason enough for me to go with the 3DS version.

I've just subscribed to Plus because of Deus EX being free, (I admit), but I can't see it anywhere. Did I miss it, or it is yet to come.

Pls Help, Thanks.

Where are you looking? It should be under "Free Games", like all the other... free games

Also, use the SEN webstore, it's way better

Keep in mind that PSN is under maintenance right now. If you're trying to access the PlayStation Store through your PS3, you'll probably get an error message. But yeah, using the web version of the store is probably a good idea. I'm pretty sure you'll get an error trying to login there too.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution will at least be up for the next week, so just make sure you grab it tomorrow or something.

EDIT: I hope hope hope we get DmC next month in the US. That would be awesome.

Hmm, it shows a sign in error. I wonder if it is a country-related issue.

Anyway thanks for the help, I'll keep trying.

EDIT: Just read the post above. Maintenance is probably the cause.

This. Last week, I got lucky and picked up a 3G Vita with a 4GB and 8GB memory card, along with LittleBIGPlanet, MGS: HD Collection, PSABR, and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time for $150.

Seems like it came with a knock-off power adaptor, but that's an easy fix.

There was a lot wrong with Hydrophobia, but there was a lot that it did really well. I'd pick it up, with the understanding that you're never going to see the plot resolve.

What are the chances that America will get BF3 for July?

It's doable, it definitely fits the profile. BF4 is about to come back, the die hards and almost anyone interested in BF3 would have bought it already. Putting it on Plus now would definitely ratchet up the DLC sales for BF3 as well.

I tried the demo and the controls were fucking awful. That was reason enough for me to go with the 3DS version.

Controls were about the same, to me. Surely a far cry from a difference large enough that it'd be worth dropping to 400x240 and a trying to dodge the corruption bug.

Good news for music unlimited subscribers like me. The iOS app is finally getting offline support, as well as 320kbps streaming. Now all I need is a native ipad app and they might be able to convince me to resub. Of course, if they off the $12 sub again I'll be all over it.

Selection is still pretty poor though. :(

I wish that the games auto installed after downloading. I download something and depending on its size, it may take 30 additional minutes to install it
