PLEASE NO ONE READ WIKI TO SOLEY FIND OUT ABOUT 999 FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST

Play once. Use a guide to help you from there one.

NO WIKI

People are robbing themselves of so much.if they read a Wiki.

Read the Wiki once your done - YOU WILL WANT TO THEN!

No one post the "Something is wrong on the internet" meme now, as there is something wrong this time, and I need to fix it!!

I'm gonna have to disagree. I played VLR all the way through without touching 999 first. I think VLR was more enjoyable because of it. A lot of the same narrative tricks are used and they are used much more effectively in VLR. If you see them in one game, you know what to expect when you start out the other. VLR was way more rewarding to be clueless in. 999 is a much more junior effort as a whole--writing, plot structure, puzzles, characters--all worse. On top of that, it just wasn't necessary to play 999 to understand the story in VLR and actually takes some of the wind out of its sails, as you'll be privy to some things.

Not to mention, I wouldn't wish it on anyone to have to replay all those puzzles.

I would play VLR, then go read a 999 wiki for the few details you need to know.

I'm holding out for the puzzle-less version of 99 coming to ios. Seems like a decent compromise.

No puzzles in the iOS version? Why not?

Because it's better that way :P
I think it's a bit extreme, but re-doing the puzzles was a hassle in the first game. Doing them once is fine, but a little repetitive by the end.
The iOS version is a visual novel edition only.

I agree that redoing the puzzles was a hassle, and in fact having to replay the game with no clear indication of what was necessary to get the best ending soured a lot of the goodwill I'd developed towards the game during the first playthrough. That said, I see no reason the ios version couldn't retain the puzzles and then just allow you to skip them on subsequent playthroughs. That (and an even faster fast-forward feature) would remedy the game's shortcomings.

All this talk about 999, multiple endings and "required" playthroughs made me think of Konami's Shadow of Destiny (Shadow of Memories), a PS2/PC game which I absolutely love. I wish we had more games like that on consoles.

Interest piqued on 999 and VLR.

OMG Shadow of Destiny was the coolest game! I love they got Charles Martinet (Mario) to be Homunculous's voice for the PS2 version (best voice cast) Scott Keck was a fantastic Eike too.

The idea of the time travel, and great storytelling got me hooked into the genre, so it was only natural to enjoy 999 and VLR so much after those.

So guys, I'm grabbing a PS3 this week-end and I want to load up this PS+ business.
Is there a recommended procedure to get more than 1 month free or should I just fish for a 30 day code online ?

I'm considering Hotline Miami... but worried it will be weird with a controller. I watched a little video on youtube of the gameplay, and just wonder if it'd be any fun with a controller. Game seems too fast for it, in the video.

I played with both a controller and kb/m on the PC version. Both worked fine.

Yes! And the game could get a bit creepy at times as well. I still have it for PS2, should probably pop it in my BC PS3 and replay it. I can get through the game in a few hours, which makes it easier to replay it.

I got PSN+ because of this and for the PS4.

Entering PS Plus in July:

3rd July: Battlefield 3
3rd July: Payday: The Heist
3rd July: Saints Row the Third
3rd July: Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus – Vita
3rd July: Unit 13 – Vita

How big of a hard drive have you guys got? I got a 320gig at the moment and only have 130gig left. I don't think this would be enough to get everything. Not sure if i should get a 750gig or 1TB HDD. Part of me is tempted to get a VITA now, but 32gig only sucks ass.

I have a 500GB hard drive and have about 200GB left. I have about 30 PSN games and 5-6 PS+ games installed on it at the moment. I don't have all the PS+ games installed, just the ones I want to currently play through.

You might as well get a 1TB drive. Better safe than sorry, and you can turn it into a USB hard drive in the future once you're done with the PS3 and if the drive is in decent condition.

Yeah, it always had that eerie vibe, in the menu music, or every time you'd speak to the "Fortune Teller"

That was another game where you're greatly rewarded for playing through it multiple times for the endings, and it's fun each time.

Hell, even playing the 999 puzzles again wasn't that big of a deal, I mean, you all already completed them once, takes a couple minutes at most to do them again. Still, the way VLR handled it was better.

Did you ever play the PSP Remake of Shadow of Destiny?

I got PSN+ because of this and for the PS4.

Really hoping we can get Amalur and Catherine soon for the US!

Might as well go for 1TB. Price difference isn't that much imo. I am already half way through on mine.

I recently replaced my OG's 60GB with a new 250GB drive. I honestly thought it would be enough.

I have barely 20 gigs left. And my machine YLOD'd, so it's not long for this world anyway.

...

And getting a Vita now seems like a good deal, now that I have so many "free" games for it. 3DS first, though.

Holy cow. I finished Deus Ex HR yesterday night and just sat there kinda stunned. One of my favorite games this gen for sure.

XCOM continues to amaze as well. Plus has already payed itself off for me.

Any hints at July US lineup for the IGC? Can't find any info anywhere.

Didn´t know there was one! :D Is it good?

Yes and No. They changed the voice cast, which was a terrible idea.

There's some new artwork which looks good, they changed the name of the digi-pad to the Z-Pad for some strange reason. Also, there's an Event Viewer, so you can rewatch all the endings at your leisure, rather than only viewing them through the game, which is cool.

I still prefer it on the big screen and the original cast. If I need to view the endings quick, there's always youtube.

So as someone who has beaten 999 and really loved it, here's how I've gone through VLR so far
Wow the last game did an interesting job at making the 'ship' believable, but this current situation just makes me question a lot of things:
It takes place in the far future
Everyone's name is unconventional for the most part: Sigma, Phi, Dio, Quark...what in the what
I really don't know what to believe in this game other than what I've got to do before me to see it to the end
On my first playthrough I decided to go with Luna mainly because she reminds me of Junpei's girlfriend from the first game, dunno she just gave me that impression
Not a big fan of the 3D models atm but otherwise so far so good

Oh and how's the English dub? I'm playing with the JP dub but wouldn't mind switching to English when I replay.

Modnation got a lot of hate (and it deserved a good chunk of it), but it was a fantastic kart racer mechanically.

M main gripe with Modnation were the loading times but I thought it was a pretty good racer, had to trade it in sadly because of the loading times =/

I am trying to enjoy VLR but it is fucking slow , hollow chatter most of the time. The story seems interesting but i am just at the second section (
infirmary
and getting tired. How long is the game?

Just bought a ps3 and it luckily arrived the next day, so I booted up home and did the quest for free 30 day ps+ trial, so now I have 2 months because of trial plus the 1 month + that came with ps3. Was so happy because I thought I was gonna miss grabbing uncharted 3. For people that want that free ps+ from home I think the last day is June 30th to get.

I did it in 25 hours following an optimal path guide and skipping all conversations that I could. You can't skip everything when repeating sections.

This English dub, outside of a couple characters (but mainly Quark) Is absolutely phenomenal. I usually prefer Japanese language with Subs, but I give credit to a good dub when I hear one, and VLR's is fantastic.

Watch the Prologue Anime on YouTube here to hear for yourself.

Phi is absolutely fantastic in English.

I have a 500gb HD (replaced the 120gb that came with the PS3). Had PS Plus since day 1, but I don't have all the game installed (many of them I finished and deleted, as I know I won't play them again). Currently at 90GB free. Will download BF3 even though I have on disc. I still play it a lot, and will make me use less the BR-drive.

Its fun with a controller, I even played it with a controller on Steam and it was alright.

I've started X-com yesterday (plus offering). Played original and like it a lot in prehistoric times.
It is kinda laggy on PS3, no?
And it's really weird to play with controller.

Very new to PS Plus since I just signed up for it last week, but when are new games announced to be added to the instant collection? I've seen people talking about BF3 but I haven't read anything official or any sources saying this is true.

Also, is it possible to download a game and have it listed as such without actually downloading to your system? Only reason I ask is because I'm low on hard drive space.

They get announced usually some weeks before they get added. Here is the Playstation Blog post about next months update. New games get added first store update of every month for PS3 games and Vita games get released usually on later weeks.

And yes you can just ''buy'' the game from either the webstore or PS3 so it appears on your download list without really downloading it.

It's really laggy, but luckily it doesn't affect gameplay. I don't know if it's my imagination, but I feel like the lag gets worse as you advance in the game.

So how does this auto-updating work? I powered on my PS3 yesterday and it told me it updated to 4.4.6 (or whatever) but it was all LIES. I tried using Netflix and it wanted to update so I went it and it was still on 4.4.5.

I kicked it off and it didn't have to download, but still really annoying it didn't automatically do it like it said it did.

I just got Plus and was wondering if anyone knows why the auto-update keeps downloading crap I don't want (music unlimited) and stuff for games I don't own (400mb item for dark souls) how do I stop it from doing this stuff besides just turning off that checkbox? I would like to get updates for only the stuff I have/own.
