Sony today announced the official release date and prices of the long awaited Playstation Portable (PSP) and the accessories.
PSP will be released on 12 December 2004 in Japan. Listed price is 19,800yen. But based on past experience on the debut launches of Playstation and Playstation 2 in Japan, the street price may probably be much higher than that. Both the Playstation and Playstation 2 were once priced over US$1,000 in Japan when they initially launched.
Another good news is that the press release specified that the AC power adaptor will be 100v~240v 50/60Hz, which basically means it will be universally compatible.
It is now confirmed that PSP will be available in 2 packages:
Package 1

- Battery
- AC power adaptor (110v~240v)
Package 2 ~ Value Pack
- Listed price - 24,800yen
- PSP Console
- Battery
