PlayStation Store 10/16/12 - Arkedo Collection | Dokuro | New Store (EU)

I felt a great disturbance in the Vita Force, as if millions hundreds of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.

well, there goes the only good Vita community thread on the internet, they could have at least moved to community or let us say goodbye

Guess this will be the home for people that want to talk shop about a dying system, eh? ;) ;)

And then service threads will be closed so "new news, new thread" happens but the posters refused to care.

Oh I guess..but we could just move it to the community section right?

I couldn't wait any longer...

Edit: Guess we can't! Vita community not welcome in community section. I don't think there is any similar community platform on gaf, so this does affect us the most...need a chatroom...steam..?

I'm going to go pour one out for all my Vitabros

Makes no sense to have a Vita community thread on a gaming forum.
Simpsons fan thread? Sure.
Wrestling fan thread? Sure.
Fantasy football fan thread? Sure?
Threads for TV shows like My Little Pony? Sure.

People who buy and support a gaming platform? Ridiculous.

(To be fair, with how often it was bumped I agree with the move to pull the Vita thread from the primary gaming forum. A move to Community would have been a preferred solution, though.)

It was a good place to talk about small games that no one will talk about anywhere else. Don't see why it needed locking, but there you go.

Considering the tiny as fuck userbase, and the incredibly negative tone of every single other Vita thread on this forum.
I'm glad it was there.

Eh, the thread helped new owners with software picks, and hardware questions. It was also a place to discuss smaller games that wouldn't normally get an OT or something. Like, for example Sunflowers. There was some news that was posted exclusively in there but it's usually stuff no one would care about like a Treasure Park update or something.

I'm making the next Treasure Park update thead.
I expect about 6 posts.

It was a good way to keep up with info; New thread after new thread on small topics that get no attention seem like more waste / a break in the flow of info, than a consistent thread, that can be bookmarked, and depended on.

It was nice having an umbrella to speak about it all under; with all the questions about memory cards, grips, old game support, discussion about older games that no longer have a thread; where is all that suppose to go now?

Like the Killzone Liberation info that was just spoke about in the Vita thread; where would that nice, useful info go now? in a 3 post thread that gets scuttled off the front page in mere moments? Or when the servers were revived for Field Commander; All Vita relevant, all too small to make a thread about, all liable to get looked over now :/

It was also nice to have a peaceful little bubble where Vitabros could talk shop without fear of vita-doomed derailments and such. I think forcing console discussions into broader service discussions opens that risk of derailment up more and might call for closer supervision. Also, Xbox is the only console under XBLA, so it still effectively gets its own megathread. Everyone else has to share.

Edit:
I just read Niro's examples in the locked 3DS community thread. Makes more sense than what I understood at first, so nm.

I see the individual phone and tablet threads in the OT are doing fine ::mutter mutter::

Poor Vita, one day we'll all look back and see how mistreated you were!

After much consideration, we have decided to close down megathreads about platforms (Vita, 3DS, Xbox 360, etc), but leave open threads dedicated to services (Steam, eShop, XBLA, iOS App Store). We feel this will help improve the overall flow of news threads while still allowing a home for niche games that cannot sustain a thread to be discussed.

Feel free to continue discussions about a specific subject in a thread specific to that subject.

They should rather improve the discussions in news threads which is filled with fanboys these days rather then close the community threads where atleast users can have discussions in a friendly manner without any platforms wars and stupid fights.

God i just saw the thread, this is a real sad day on Gaf!

The Vita thread was the only safe haven for us Vitacats and now we have no home to go to, forever wandering aimlessly through the Gaf planes.

Its a conspiracy i tell, conspiracy!!!

Feel like a wandering exile seeking his next home away from the ridicule of non vitaGaf. Oh well.

My poor Dreamcast feels the same but it still has pride of place in the mancave.

Is there any reason to buy The Unfinished Swan today over, say, later in the month, even for a member of the PS+ master race?

I want to get it, but I only have $33 left in my wallet, and I don't want to drop any more cash on PSN stuff this month if I can avoid it. If a something unexpected, but desirable comes out, I'm ok with delaying The Unfinished Swan for a while...AFAICT, it's $15 whether you buy early or buy later...

You can probably wait.

Damn, should I get Odin Sphere since it's 4.99?

I played a bit of the game and it seems kinda sluggish for the first hour.
