Playstation Store is garbage

It is kinda insane how bad it is considering it has a monopoly on the platform and has been around for decades. Valve is really the only one that actually improves their shit on regular basis.

I've had problems with the store, yeah. I have serious difficulty logging into the site from my Linux laptop, and often doesn't calculate the sales tax, causing it to fail when trying to purchase.

I usually spend a decent amount of time browsing the store every week but since this reset to the top bug started, I don't. It's crazy to me that this isn't a priority fix to them.

At least yours works. I literally have to reset and reboot my PS5 Pro every time I turn it on because even though it says I'm online and allows me to play multiplayer games, the store is all blank pages and won't load or download games or patches. Literally nothing fixes this, DNS, wired/wireless, using a different service provider...nothing.

Is there such button on steam?
No, but has an entire settings page where you can literally filter out any kind of content you want, right down to individual words or tags. It's very customizable.

Its ok, you are now starting to see the light. We Welcome you to Xbox my brother, we forgive you and welcome you to a new heavenly experiance 🟢💪

Always thought of the PS store like a small child who's learning to potty train, then looks up at you after a tiny sale like they've done something incredibly special. No. That's what you're supposed to do and you're just barely cutting it.

Console store seems to get worse each update. I avoid browsing on it but will use it when I know what I want to purchase.

It's the main thing stopping me from jumping back into PlayStation. Sony were kings of the physical. Their web stores and anything digital has always been worst in class.

Who even browses the store? Any gaming enthusiast already knows what they want and what they don't, and goes straight to the search bar, looks for that one they want and either buys it or adds it to the wishlist.

Seriously does anyone at Sony care about their fucking store?

Every week I go to new releases to see and wishlist stuff.
For some time now, when you open a game page and go back, it sends you on the top of the list. If I check 10 games, I have to scroll down 10 times to get back were I was.
I thought ok they will fix it anytime now but no! Still broken.

Then you have:
- a flood of shit games that wouldn't stand as free to play in mobile phones stores. Seriously how many simulator games can you stomach?

-tags that are in the game but when you search them you get no results

-filters that include stuff that should not

-and what the hell with the stupid game pages?
I select a game and get to the payment button (oh maybe I will click by mistake? Smart)
and have to scroll down for pictures, again down for the useless ratings screen, again down for versions/dlc and finally down for the description that has to be opened in a window as it won't fit in all the mess.

Browsing this shit is a horrible experience and im convinced they are losing millions of revenue.

I don't believe im saying this but Nintendo is light-years ahead of this. Every time I open the Switch store it is a fun time and almost always I end up buying something.

Unreal incompetence.
are you fucking insane?

The psn store is pretty fucking shit but oh boy..

I assume this is Sony trying to fix the store's memory issues (just trying it). It used to crash all the time.

Agreed 100%. This is most infuriating for me.

For the on console experience, Switch 2 is probably the smoothest. PS Store more often than not takes a while to load its tiles and hangs/crashes pretty frequently. In a lot of ways, it feels like the OG Switch experience. The Xbox Store says it needs an update every time you launch the app and then takes forever to apply said update which is usually a really small file.

put game on my wish list.

Buy said game.

Game is still on wishlist….

Auto remove function too hard Sony?

90% of my PS gaming is physical, but agree the PS store is just not an enjoyable experience especially if you are just wanting to browse.

I have 7000 ps5's (ok...i have 5...but still) and it is a complete NIGHTMARE trying to buy a game on any of them. I have to use the mobile app now. Every time I try to buy something I just get constant "There was a problem" errors so I just buy on the app.

Some additional shade...the swtich eshop is faster than the PS5's menus are. Especially if it is doing any sort of system updates in the background, completely molasses.

Ah the actual quality well switch 1 is the fucking worst.

Switch 2 load fasts it's just the content… holy shit man.

Anyway dekudeals or gg deals so who cares

Thats it? if I'm interested in a game I'm already following through gaming sites which tells me exactly when the game coming out.

I guess this "wishlist" stuff is not all that useful to me since I buy 90% of game as physical copy.

I only use them for games that don't have physical versions, but yeah, that's all I use wishlists for.

I mean who the fuck even spends this much time in there to have these type of life problems?

100% agree OP. The store is terrible. The Wishlist is awful where if you have too many games listed, it won't display what game it is! It's a horrible experience that doesn't seem to improve. Then wading through the countless slop in the store to try find something you're looking for is insane. Been like this for a long time. I've also encountered errors whilst browsing the store on my pro. Shocking stuff.

I don't know why, but for some reason everything used to be simpler—I'd just get up, go to the store, and buy the game I wanted. Now you don't even have to get up, but we have problems. :messenger_grinning:

P.S - 100% physical only. If your game doesn't have a physical release (including games that aren't on disc or require a download), уour game doesn't exist for me. Naturally, there are exceptions, such as indie games and developers.

Whatever revenue they maybe losing is a drop in the ocean compared to the revenue they have made just from the PS5 itself...

Out of curiosity whats the point of "wishlist" a game? I never understood the point of it.
I add games I'm interested in that I don't plan to buy unless it's on deep sale.

So I'll amass a list of like 10-20 games, and check weekly during sales or store refresh to just look at my wishlist instead of browsing through a sea of shit on the actual store.

Saves a lot of time!

Just out of curiosity, do you actually have time to play all these games? Do you have a big backlog? But such diligence deserves respect, I bow my head.

Fully agree.

Also, having to scroll all the way down once you go back on a game you viewed fucking is shit. And the AI game shit is also getting out of hand. It's so difficult to find anything.
The PS Store is a total piece of fucking cunt shit

There is plenty of shovelware on all store fronts with Steam lapping the competition in that regard. I also think the eShop is also load out the best and easiest to navigate.

Yeah, looking for games on sales is pain in the ass.

PC store is at least better in this aspect (you can always open games in new tabs).

Is that really so? The PS Store on the PS App as well as on an internet browser automatically deletes purchased games from your wishlist.

All of these digital stores are garbage for these reasons. Another reason digital sucks.

I love the premium feel of the look and sound of the PS5 interface but I do find it pretty clunky when trying to access ps+ libraries, etc. which is pretty important to keep people subscribing.

If I go into the Store with a specific game in mind, I'm okay. I also haven't had any problems with my Wishlist.

If I go in there just to browse, though, then it feels like a slog. For instance, if I browse a Sale, I usually have to scroll a massive list of game (including lots of filler/junk) that categorized by nothing more than alphabetical order. It's a chore to scroll through all that junk just to see if you can find anything worth buying.

hey, it's an improvement from the PS3 days at least... I think you'd get an aneurysm if you had to use that god awful PS3 store today.

but it is indeed astonishingly bad
I don't know, the original PSstore didn't hide Demos, PS classics on a weekly basis.

What??

No it's not.

Steam luanched alongside Half-Life 2 back before PS consoles even had online. Stop posting horseshit.

the PSN store went online in 2006, Steam in 2003.
but the first game not made by Valve that was on there (so basically the date it actually became an open digital storefront) was in late 2005, around the same time the Xbox Live Store went online during the 360 launch.

so you could say Steam actually starting being a store that sells more than Half Life and Counter Strike was roughly at the same time the Xbox Live Store went online

Sony store and MS store have always been shit. For MS it's inexcusable. They were a software company first and they fuckin fail at software. Ridiculous.

I whittle it down little by little. Even 3 games I want are on a big sale I still only scoop up one.

Once a game is done or I had my fill I look for the next deal.

I also have varying moods so I wouldn't for example buy two big RPGs back to back.
