PlayStation4 FW 1.5 details

Wow, so much venom in here.

(At least if some people here cancel their preorders, they'll be more PS4s for the people who understand that day one patches are the norm now. Consoles go to manufacture months before the systems are released, so of course the firmware isn't going to be final.)

Just like the pre-drm outrage? If you dont want something speak.

I'm confused, are you comparing the DRM situation which was confirmed and real to something you read and can be taken many different ways. If it's confirmed and you're that disappointed cancel the pre-order if not then enjoy your PS4.

Don't see why they don't just include a firmware disc in the console box. Unless it can't read the dam thing without the update in the first place...

With that logic, why wouldn't they have just installed the firmware in the first place? The console goes in the box very shortly after production.

No need for camera with voice commands. PS4 100 XBO -100... Take that you dumb fanboy who claimed ps4 needs ps cam for voice commands.
Weird about suspend. For those that buy at launch hopefulöly it comes quick. Also confirmation that video and audio during streaming... Witch everyone knew but some fanboys had to write bull because they can not help themselfs. Everything coming together nicely.... Witch games need fw1.5 i wonder.

Edit: How easily people forget. It was said that custom soundtracks are supposrted trough other means than MU. If it is not case they have lied. Also twitch is separate app on ps4 but i am not sure how ustream works. It clearly says users can spectate trough ps app. are people blind or unable to read?

So you can turn your PS4 on via Voice Command, but you can't do resume/suspend? So it is on in standby mode at a low power state. I hope this issue will be resolved by Xmas.

This is why I never trust Sony. It's not about the day 1 patch but the fact the features are missing on day 1 and if background music playback is only limited to their shitty service I wouldn't be surprised.

No suspend/resume at launch is a huge disappointment for me. Playing consoles when you're used to it on PC and Vita is a giant chore.

no sleep mode at launch ?

Shh no sleep

Only patches now

Ok... not being able to play music in background is not positive, obviously. But what a overreaction people are pretending to have! lol
I was not even remembering about this function. When playing I prefer to listen the game sound by itself, but if happens to me that I want to listen something else, I just turn on my music player or smartphone. Its not a big deal at all!

But about the SHARE function. Will us be able to copy our records to a External HDD?

Probably because that installed gold image was finalized weeks/months ago and has already been in production for some time. Those features that are missing were most probably just not final at this point. In the age of excessive update distribution via the Internet, this was very expected. There just isn't a hard deadline for rock-slid and complete software anymore. It won't stop with that 1.5 patch. I am expecting update after update for at least the first half year on both consoles. My only hope is that none of the consoles early system softwares will be such a clusterfuck like the Wii U ones.

The 3 people that care about it are not happy.

Although suspend thing not being there is disappointing I must admit

Because the launch 'boxes' were packaged a long time ago, well before there was any firmware 1.5 to put on a disc. Nobody's going to open up 1 million + sealed boxes stacked on sealed pallets spread all over the world just to include a firmware update which can be easily obtained by the end user.

If products had to wait until feature complete firmware was ready before manufacturing started, our products would either have far fewer features or would come out months (possibly years) late. Would you be willing to wait for a PS4 launch until February or March just to ensure that 1.5 got installed on the console, knowing there'd just be some feature in firmware version 2.0 you're going to want right away anyway?

oh man the launch is so close!! I cant believe we are talking about PS4 firmware. So very awesome. I have been waiting impatiently for 2 years to get my hands on this system.

It would be nice if they made it so we can start downloading the update to flash drives or whatever a few days early. I can't imagine the download is going to be the fastest with everyone trying to download the update day one.

The Vita says this is a non-issue.

By that logic the Vita should have been able to access a media library over DLNA because the PS3 did.

To be clear I think it's unlikely custom music is only through the music unlimited app because that seems stupid. The smartest thing for both Sony and MS at this point is to discount their music services for members but also provide the same sort of API's to Spotify and RDO.

*shrug* it is what it is.

people have been trumpeting "XB1 wasn't ready to launch this year"

real world: like any major launch - everything is coming down as late as possible for a number of reasons.

it sucks that we've got big day 1 updates but that's the reality.

Didnt Sony put the firmware updates online since the PSP came out?

if anyone is planning on playing need for speed rivals, they desperately need custom soundtracks. trust me. every need for speed game has had terrible music.

i still think it will be a built-in feature at launch, so i'm not worried until they say otherwise.

To expect them to have all of that 100% done by the time the system went to manufacture is probably unrealistic- they could have had the semi-complete versions of that software on the drive and then patched them to complete with a firmware update at launch, but why do that when those features require a PSN connection (which forces a firmware update) anyway?

By that logic, the only thing that doesn't make sense there is not having blu-ray playback without a firmware update.

Slightly disappointed.

I understand why they'd want Remote Play to be there Day-1, given the marketing push for it, but Suspend/Resume should be the bigger priority over Remote Play.

Besides, it's there on Vita & PS3. You have the framework to do it, it's not suppposed to be hard.

Except this isn't a big update it's 300MB lol

Well in that way the Vita is a different type of device. But yeah I do see your point. Not an issue for me yet, I never do it on the Vita, although I'd love to share my Plex library with my PS4 and do it there.

Ah I don't agree with that.

not even planing to be there day 1 but they got some plaining to do with the background music. can someone that has a twitter ask about it ?

Sony is rushing this console like MS is rushing there's eh? Both day one patches. Guess they're both not ready. All those poor people without internet an unable to update their consoles. Why would they live there.

Hmmm. I hope I'm not required to have 1.5 fw installed to play disc based games on launch. It'd be nice if I can just start playing kzsf while waiting for the fw download to complete. Then the system can just update itself when it restarts.
