Of course they couldn't. Everyone outside of Japan, Dumb kids that don't know any better, and Nintendo fanboys all know Pokemon has been bad since 2013 and they all rightfully skipped it once they saw it on Youtube. Even God of War, as great as it is (It certainly is a game made of Passion and artistry, can't say that for any Pokemon game) can't make up for Pokemon's slump.

So your nonsense about people taking one look at it on YouTube and not buying it is complete fiction: literally no other Nintendo game has ever sold so well in a similar period.

The actual point of the article was that not even Pokemon's huge sales could result in an increase in the total sales of all games in November. It's not criticising Pokemon, it's criticising everything else combined: you somehow managed to come to the exact opposite conclusion of the story.

They're the best selling Pokemon games ever (and just the best in the series), no matter what a few cynical fanboys say on message boards.

Literally says in the article that violet/Scarlett sold 23.5% more than Sword and Shield so the Pokémon commentary in your post is ridiculous.

I wish Pokémon had been punished for it's lazy unpolished and rushed release but it hasn't.

Also God of War Ragnarok selling a huge 62% more than the original in its first three weeks is incredible.

We're not going to get a full picture of Nintendo games from all video games sales trackers like NPD, GFK, and Famitsu because of the absent of Nintendo digital sales numbers.

In Japan for example:

Animal Crossing New Horizons
Physical sales - 7 million units
Digital sales - 3 million units

Splatoon 3 ( 3 days )
Physical sales - 2 million units
Digital sales - 1.45 million units

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet ( 3 days )
Physical sales - 2.5 million units
Digital sales - 1.5 million units
