Ronald D. Moore talks about the god of war tv series.

As someone who just gave up on For All Mankind after 2 seasons, I'm not exactly hopeful.

The show's formula is basically:
- 10 minutes of thrilling (expensive) outer space action and suspense
- 50 minutes of human drama, which consists of someone doing something infuriatingly stupid so that there can be a source of drama and a problem for the characters to solve
- plenty of stunning and brave girlbosses to set the men straight (although nobody in this show is immune from doing something stupid when the show needs some more drama to fill the time)

Toward the end my wife and I were openly mocking the show. We figured that you should just predict every character will make stupidest and most reckless decision possible, and you'll probably be right.

I only watched 1 season but found it kinda frustrating.
I love the concept of the show, the idea of the USSR reaching the moon first and it creating an extended space race.
But yeah lots of people doing stupid stuff for the sake of personal drama. And out of all the ways to explore this really interesting alternate history setting, focusing a huge amount of time on "but how would this affect women and the LGBT community" just feels like wasted potential.

I have a lot of faith in Moore's abilities, but the Horse era of God of War is just a letdown to me all around, so an adaptation of that is inherently less exciting to me than it otherwise would have been.

Still keeping an eye out.

Oh man you're missing out on so much quality storytelling, like:
Gordo is now some fat, divorced has-been. Ed convinces him to go back to the moon base + selects him over some much better-qualified candidates so he can relive his glory days and win back his ex-wife

Karen cheats on Ed with their dead son's barely-legal best friend

Molly has to rescue someone during a solar storm, so she removes her dosimeter so NASA won't find out how much radiation she got exposed to. Then she keeps it a secret from everybody even as her vision and health deteriorate. She finally gives up on her plan to return to space after almost crashing her plane, but still tells nobody about the radiation.

Aleida is now some SUPER GENIUS engineer but she can't hold down a job because she's a mega-bitch who can't work with others. Margo visits her at the trailer park and BEGS her to come work for NASA so she won't get deported. Then she causes some trouble by insulting a guy at Mission Control who pissed his pants because he couldn't leave his post during a crucial operation. She redeems herself by making amends with that dude, then solving a big challenge figuring out how to dock the American + Soviet ships together.

And plenty more. I can't wait to see what expertly-crafted drama Ronald D. Moore has planned for GoW!

Butler looks close to Dad of War, but the redesign was a bit boring, kinda normal face just with abnormal physique for higher age. Original Kratos had more special brows and smile.
I rather have some unknown actor cast for that role, or a bodybuilder that juices anyway. A well known actor that does not match the game looks would probably look like some weird cosplay.

Vin Diesel is the only actor with charisma and presence to play young Kratos faithfully.
Vin might do proper Kratos low voice imho, he did have a beard in Chronicles of Riddick in a short bit and The Last Witch Hunter.

Dunno if he has build for it though.

Plus he is filming Riddick: Furya right now.

Honestly they should go with some unknown actor because I feel like even if Vin would have a good voice, did have a proper build something wouldn't click just right. His face is too round, I think.

And I really would want him to just focus on finishing Riddick, since there supposed to be another movie - The Underverse - after Furya wrapping up Riddick's story.

Fun fact: I was in Outlander (S5 I think?) as an extra walking past a car with fogged up windows so you can't even tell its me.
Damn how did you get that? And did you get paid for it?

I kind of want to see what Americans think today's USSR would have been like

They can't act well enough for a show like this. Kratos also has a specific voice and tone, and those guys have a distinctly foreign accent.
Good points, but it will probably depend on whether the show has a completely serious tone or leans into being a bit trashy and doesn't take itself too seriously. In that case, someone with little acting experience and a noticeable accent might actually make it even funnier.

Idris Elba would also be a great choice, as long as they don't focus too much on skin color.

God of War 2018 takes itself very seriously most of the time. I don't think Ronald D. Moore is going to make it silly.

Imho the games, have not yet played the Dad of War games, were ertainly not meant trashy, but imho they were rather accidentally funny. Kinda only really liked Ascension and the less grand PSP games. Something in 1-3 was always off, mostly Kratos himself.

He gets anyway whitefaced.
Or needs to be blackface in flashbacks of him. either way, they'll offend someone. haha

Yeah I was paid, £110 for 9-10 hours (before tax), this one was conveniently filmed really close to my house so wasn't a big hassle to do, costume fitting and free hair cut also paid £20-30.

The food and drink was actually pretty decent on this one, but the actual job was a bit miserable since we were outside in Autumn in the middle of the night and it was raining very lightly.

You can't go inside a building or even tent between takes (which could be 15 mins) so you get given a big blanket to wrap round yourself.

If you're in the UK the company is called Universal Extras, they have HQs in many cities I think, but all the jobs I'm doing are in Scotland as a matter of course.

I was also technically in the naming of the clans scene but I got sick for the final 2 days so they would have cut my potential scenes due to continuity issues.

Its usually only minimum PACT rate of £110 for 10 hours (+ small costume fitting/rehearsal payment) for every job I'm offered (probably because I have no specialised skills listed, I should update my bio) but very recently I was asked to work on something that paid £500 for 8 hours and costume fitting was £250 for 4 hours.

Of course I didnt get it since probably a ton of people applied, I'm guessing it was a new big movie, a Marvel one is due to be filmed in Scotland soon.

Interesting. I always imagined 'extras' were like 'let's ask the dude in the background if he wants to be in the shot' lol. But there's a big business back of the line.

It was always going to be based on Dad of War. With that said I don't think that repeating the story from the last 2 games is a great idea, not to mention it'll skip the Greek setting (minus the flashback scenes).

This is potentially gonna be too similar to The Last of Us in more ways than one...but it's not weird how we won't start with the greek games. Imagine adapting those, Kratos killing all those innocents, then going through all the gods where every time he destroys one something happens to the planet. I don't see a lot of people rooting for that lol.

Heavily features Atreus is not a good sign. But I thought the Twisted Metal show would be terrible, and I actually really liked it.
