Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

I work at a Pokestop and am drowning in balls. The Chicago loop is just busting with shit to do. Got to get me shit up to 5 so I can take on these gyms.

I work on the 18th floor downtown and there is a Pokestop on either end of the block. It's pretty entertaining watching GPS try to locate me. My guy just walks in random directions before rubberbanding back, and occasionally gets close enough to one of the Pokestops for me to grab stuff. I caught 6 or so Pokemon today despite the outages.
 
Servers been crashing down but I've gotten a lot of playing time while its up.

Stayed up all night yesterday and the game worked flawlessly, claimed 5 gyms, found interesting Pokemon, and got Lv9.

Pretty fun game, hopefully they get the server stabilized soon. My wife even plays this, lol.

Strongest Pokemon atm is 312 raticate and a 320 rhydon, the CP of wild Pokemon definitely goes higher as you level up, from my experience.
 
I'm sure it has been asked but didn't see it in the last few pages - anyone try biking or running with the app open to see how it does counting steps? Wondering if going for bike rides or jogs would work.

I haven't, but I read that if you bike too fast they don't register. Biking at a relaxed pace should work. It doesn't use anything other than GPS to calculate travel/steps, but there is a speed cap.
 
Anyone stuck on a Gyarados loading screen? I swapped apps on my iPhone and now it won't load back into the game even if I close the app and restart it.

It's TPCi's login servers that are smoked to death at the moment. PTC accounts haven't been able to login for 7 hours now.

The game servers from Niantic are shaky, but at least up more often than not atm

Okay thanks. I will have to give it a shot and report back. Too bad it is using strictly GPS, that means stationary exercise bikes and running on treadmills is out of the question. But I suppose it had to be done to dissuade people trying to get false steps to register.
 
Yup servers down again... had enough time to hit up 2 pokestops and grabbed a Zubat, and was in the process of getting a Global. I got an "Excellent!" On the throw and the ball stopped blinking, but it never popped up with the Pokemon stats screen. Hopefully I get it, it would be nice to have another high level pokemon, and my first orange difficulty catch.
 
I caught a ratata lying in my bed last night. Tried to play today and actually go outside but servers are down. Can you battle wild Pokemon in this game?
 
I kept my eyes peeled on the drive home from work and I counted 3 people I was reasonably certain were out hunting. I know it's tough to distinguish from people who are just ordinarily wrapped up looking at their smartphones, but at the same time there are certain tells. Crazy stuff.

I see, I was going off of my experience being unable to interact with pokestops and so on earlier in the afternoon. Gonna see what it's like out there now.
 
Had enough money put away in google play rewards dosh, picked up some incense. A bit disappointing they couldn't really randomise it, you'll be catching 1 pokemon every 5 minutes.
 
All of the gyms nearby have been claimed by Team Red, will have to right this one I get to Level 5.

People are going to get so hooked to this if they provide new Pokemon/support for a while.
