I'm really looking forward to this game. Back in the day, I stopped playing Pokemon games after Crystal and only started playing them again with X, so i would nice to see what were the then-new pokemon introduced to the series at the time.

Add me to the list that still doesn't have the newsletter, despite having gotten plenty of them in the past. Also Yahoo, for whatever it may matter, and I did properly search just to double check. Not cool if I somehow slipped through the cracks.

My impressions of the demo are coming from someone who hasn't played a mainline Pokemon since FireRed on the GBA back in the day.

Alright. So the first thing I noticed is how poor the games graphics are. I half expected this from the few screens I saw online, but I thought it would look better on the 3DS and in motion. Nope. It does indeed look like a DS game. Compared to something like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 3DS, it just pales in comparison. It immediately took me out of the game world.

The next thing, I can finally move in any direction I want. Ah, that feels good. Progress. One step back, a little one forward.

Next, everything is still designed like it's on a grid. The unnatural slopes and edges of the shore are just offputting. Isn't it time they design the world to, you know, look a bit more organic? The Pokemon world should be engrossing. Encouraging players to explore its vivid landscapes.

Then I heard that godawful sound when I touched a wall. The Pokemon games still do this? Very jarring.

Moving on. Battles look pretty nice. I think this is the saving grace of this game. The pisspoor graphics and uninspired environments are a huge detriment to my enjoyment but the core battle mechanics are still somewhat satisfying at least.

My overall impression is that Pokemon is evolving at a glacial pace and it's very discouraging to me. I'm still imagining that living breathing world where landscapes are made to look seamless and organic with Pokemon inhabiting them in realtime. It's not asking that much. We have beautiful 3DS games like Kid Icarus, Mario 3D World and Luigi's Mansion. There's no reason that Pokemon must stubbornly cling to such esoteric conventions. There's a lot they could do with the game without losing the great battle mechanics.

The demo helped me make a decision to not purchase the game, which is very disappointing because I've been recently getting back into the first season on Netflix. Oh well.

Looking at screenshots, Mystery Dungeon 3DS doesnt exactly look that much better. And the game isnt exactly ugly or anything. Sure, i'd love to see an overworld fully 3D ala Dragon Quest VIII,but I dont think you'd be able to see roaming Pokemon in real time either way.

Even the Tales of series games on consoles still have generic models for overworld enemies, and Pokemon surely has no pallette swaps (not speaking of shinies of course).

if u manage to get the newsletter code, could i take it ?

I got the newsletter, but like I said, there's no code in it

As in, not even those "Your demo code is here" panel with a broken image. It literally doesn't have a section for the demo code.

Do we have any idea how many rewards there are or when the game cuts you off? I cleared the demo 10 times but was curious how many transfer rewards I can still earn.

If anyone has an extra US demo code, I have a shiny rayquaza in my HeartGold, I need to get my friend over to transfer it to B2W2 so I dont have it on hand. Maybe in a weeks time. But I will deliver.

Sinnoh needs remakes cause the games are horrendously slow. Terrible framerate and movement speed, slow moving health bar, just a garbage experience all around.

Game Freak's programming at its finest

Looking back, while DPP had a pretty awesome plot, it was a bit flawed gameplay-wise. It could use a remake.

Did you play Platinum? Because it sounds like you didn't. It's easily in the Top 3 best pokemon games, so any remake will just make one of the franchises finest games that much better.

What makes it sound like I didnt play Platinum? I did play Platinum. It still wasn't enough of a fix for D/P. They made surf slightly more bearable but its still too slow. Other things like how you can't turn off Pokemon intro animations and health and experience bars moving up and down were also still too slow.

The word Id use to describe 4th gen is sluggish. It's such a huge step down from how fast things were during the 3rd gen. Thankfully the 5th gen sped things up again.

Reserved my copy at Amazon.co.uk on the 15th, still waiting for a code. Frankly, it's rare that Amazon fails to deliver so I'm a bit lost as to what to do.
